According to the latest PCC newsletter the restriction has been lifted on discussing publicly the first half 2014 catalog items.
There will be some great things this year. Love the jousting knight bags, the baby pegasus bags, the new horse series and the carnival! I really like that they will have a motor unit available so you can make some of the rides move. Having the ferris wheel going around will be fantastic at shows like the train shows.
-
Great. Let's hear more. With pics, svp.
-
We aren't allowed to share the pdf with the pics, unfortunately but we can talk about the items. There is a new fair series that I think is absolutely fantastic, exactly what I've been dreaming of for years! Ferris wheel and all! There's still no roller coaster, and no real traditional carousel, but there's bumper cars and other rides, and light kits too of course. And a ride-on train for the kids that I will be using in my zoo, for sure.
----edit----
I'll amend that, it's not exactly bumper cars, it's more like a teacups style spin ride. But the cars look like they could also be used to make a bumper cars custom.
-
Perhaps if it sells well, and I think it should, they will expand the series.
With a prior history of a roller coaster to demonstrate feasibility I think there is a good chance of it.
Bonnie, you should plug for the idea as much as possible on the PCC and we can join our voices and let them realize there is interest in that item. I'd love to get that.
Although, being thrifty I am just now starting to get the cavemen sets as they are coming to Winners so it might be awhile ...
-
Yes, it would be good to lobby for it now since we can lobby for it as an addition to a current theme. If they're ever going to do it, this is the time. Even if a replica of the old ones isn't available, it seems that it wouldn't take so many new molds. The track itself could be modular, and they could probably design it to just need two or three different molds -- straight, curved up, curved down, or one piece could work as a curve in either direction if designed right. Or they could be flexible so that you only need one mold. Then there would be a support system, which could possibly use some existing pieces. Then all you would need is the roller coaster car. It would be really nice if the coaster were modular and customizable. In fact that could be a major selling point with kids, I would think -- design your own roller coaster.
-
The 1-2-3 train track would be a good size and has been used in customs the last few years. All they would need is support for any height changes and the cars.
-
If there is a rollercoaster is needs left turns, right turns, ups and downs, loopty loops, the works. :confetti:

What's this about jousting knight bags? :o
-
Some of the mystery figures are quite nice and will make lovely additions to my "international" collection. Others are kind of baffling. Surfing santa? Really? And the gangster is just in poor taste, imo. I like the zookeeper/ranger with the koala, despite her being modern theme. The princess with the key set makes me think of Bluebeard's wife, lol. My favorite is the lady in the green wrap skirt (bottom left of series 7).
I wish 1 or 2 of the horse sets came with male riders and 1 or 2 of the motorcycle sets came with female riders. In any case, I like the horse rider in red. The one in purple is quite nice too, and the one with the black horse is the nicest of the ones with a less formally dressed klicky.
I love the farmer ladies. And the striped orange cats are cute.
The prince in the take-along is nice, though perhaps not nice enough to spring for the whole set just for him. I like the dress of the princess but not her head (the tiny crown and the red mouth). And once again, there is a high percentage of princesses that are blonde (brunettes can be princesses too! Actually, there have probably been more brunette princesses in history).
What's this about jousting knight bags? :o
Four bags, each with a knight, horse, matching armor, and a bit of jousting fence. They are quite nice. I might get them, if the budget permits.
-
Mystery Santa on a surf-board? Is that correct? Is this from series 6? I almost did my Christmas Island set up again this year but decided to do something else. However, NEXT YEAR, it sounds like it will be back on.
-
The princess with the key set makes me think of Bluebeard's wife, lol.
:o That would be the most inappropriate toy ever! However, the mystery figures' heads do come off very easily.
-
I found pictures of appearantly all new sets for the first half of next year aside from those jousting knights. :(
-
What's this about jousting knight bags? :o
Imho, these are a prelude of a renewal / update of the medieval theme in the 2nd half of 2014,
like the dragon-bags were this year for the Asia-Dragon theme and the fairy-bags were for the fairy-theme.
Also, "somewhere" I've seen images of new small knight-accesories (armour etc.) that aren't available yet in any existing sets.
About what the jousting knights and their horsies from these bags look like;
Quite nice knights with new colours and heraldry (at least for 3 of the 4, there is one that is rather ugly imho).
The horses and their capes though are not 3rd (=latest) generation, but 2nd generation like with the present knight-sets, which is a pitty.
-
Hmm the Jousting Knights bags and the Fair theme sound interesting and a Surfing Santa :lol: well let's just say I can't wait to see photos at least i guess it's showing a bit of creativity with Santa even if it's perhaps not what most of us were hoping for 8}

This is true. Instant body parts!
-
so for us the kids and I like pretty much all the new specials and specials plus. We are really glad to get more ghosts and I really like seeing a new clown kid. The only one that is not needed is the girl with pony.
I really like seeing the bunnies Klickies back, It looks like a advent calendar style so that would make getting a lot of them harder.
I personally like all the construction sets that are being made. I really hope the tower crane is able to become taller. If it is RC maybe they did not have to run the power through the tower to the batteries and controls in the base. The big off road end dump is very neat
looking forward to the advent calendar with the dragon. Looks like another adult dwarf
its the 2013/2014 catalog right not the 2nd half of 2014 as that one still says Confidential
-
We haven't seen the second half of 2014 yet. The latest thing we have is the 2014 catalogue for December - July. The email informing us these things were no longer confidential had a hyperlink to what they were referring to, which included pics of the carnival, new coast guard theme, and new animal clinic.

oh, Must not be on that email list and the confidential was only removed on the other catalog download. The one with those new sets still says confidential at the pcc 8}
The 5477 golden knight, I want to get a few of him and hope they put him in either the special pcc shop or ?
I am not too sure about the other 40th anniversary sets? A kids playhouse on fire w/kid putting out the fire is odd. The knight one will be nice as it has the kid and we always need more medieval kids
The 4784 rock stars guitar looks interesting, all we need now is the base guitar and we will have a proper rock group
The coast guard sets look nice but just a tad small. The only thing missing is how the people got onboard of the 5455 life pod. Perhaps a nice big cruise ship is in order. I find the widow of the 5543 car interesting, is the whole car new or a recycled one?
Now the carnival sets are a great addition to playmobil and so many people have been waiting for something like this. We will get them all and as Tim said, the motor addition will be so great at train shows. Having all those things twirling around will look great. The one that I think "hit the nail on the head" in regards to coloring is the ride on train. I like all the other ones but the pastel colors and rave glitter bling are a turn off to me. The 5466 clown w/balloons is a must at least 12 times. We will add all these to our circus diorama and I am sure it will look great together. The boys will have fun with all the new action.
The bagged sets look great. I want all the knights, even the fantasy red one. The only thing missing is the hood for the horses. It looks odd that they do not have a hood that matches. The 5354 ice girl is cool. I must get lots of that tree. It is perfect for winter scenes, like a santa house.
The new gold transport to me is not the best of playmobil. It was a nice attempt to make a armored car but it just looks too unarmed. In the US armored cars look like mini tanks of vehicles, not converted delivery vans. The swat truck looks like fun but I still think this needs to be a red airport fire truck w/foam. If it had clear windows instead of blue it would look less fantasy-ish
Figures 7 look so recycled. The clown and most of the others look like older klickes and their prints in new configurations. I do want the Nun looking girl many times. It is so frustrating not being able to get enough of the ones I want duplicates of. Something really special the pcc could do is let collectors buy them identified .
would a gangster in a suit w/machine gun be considered "a violent toy"?

I kind of like the kids playhouse. It makes me think of maybe a fire safety day activity at school, like maybe the kids are just pretending to put out a fire or something. I think that would be fun for kids in real life, so it's kind of cool.
And I like the gold transport and SWAT vehicles. Chris is dying to get them, for sure. In fact he had already made a custom SWAT vehicle and was thinking about doing an armored car, so it saves him some trouble.
-
I wish that tank had been leaked before I got the Top Agents one.. The first time we saw it we thought it'd make a great carrier.. and NOW they made one.
-
A few people mention Mystery Series 7. Where is the info on MS 6? I haven't seen anything on that .
-
Fi?ures 6 and 7 are both in the new catalog.
6 has a Highlander figure with an over shoulder kilt that is great. Also Roman gladiator, cowboy, baywatch dude, spy, Aladdin type, green alien, pirate captain (fat again), karate guy, construction with jackhammer, surfing santa, and guy in red plaid pajamas. Girls are princess big skirt, lady cop, Australian woman in ranger outfit with koala, princess long dress, Chinese opera singer (?), hiker, rhythmic gymnast, fairy with tutu, another princess big skirt, Cleopatra, green witch (cool helmet with horns), shopper or party girl.
7 has prince, chef, clown with rings, SCUBA diver, skateboarder, Roman, fencer, spaceman (darkster type), gangster, Robin Hood, camera man, Neptune only no fish tail. Girls are princess big gold dress, cowgirl, snake handler with boa constrictor in metallic green, ice cream shop worker, runner black ipod, woman in short skirt and high heels, fairy in mauve and gold, nun with old milkmaid type hat, India princess, hipster woman, dressage rider, miner
In both cases there are some pretty good female figures and only one or two interesting male ones. I think they have run out of steam on the boy side. I think some of that is because historically they have done tons of boys and few females so they have more ground to cover with the female figures.
-
It would help if they were a bit more original. Take the romans... at least DIFFERENT COLORS. :(
(And I STILL can't believe the lost fishtail :( )
-

maybe it could be added to the carnival as a sort of game.
We really like the swat vehicle and as tahar also experienced once we saw the spy team one we (kids and I) wanted more uses for it. This new one we will want many to go with the other US black SUV swat truck. All there needs to be is a ramming vehicle where the front end is tank like.
I wish that tank had been leaked before I got the Top Agents one.. The first time we saw it we thought it'd make a great carrier.. and NOW they made one.
We were wondering when we got the spy one what it would take to cut it up. This is much better. I still do not like the fish tank on the spy one but the kids find it playful. They put all the translucent red crystals in it for color effects.

That is what I would also like to see. Some, quite a few of 6 and 7 look like actual specials
-
I hope it will be fairly easy to put say 3 or 4 of the 5553 carnival swings in a row. Have the twisting rods all connect, then add a motor on one end and have it automated.
I bet the gold in the armored car is the new plastic ones. I really liked the metal ones. At least the plastic ones could be solid so they were heavy.
The RC boat motor separately will be very useful
At train shows we want to get away from the western we have been doing and have a modern layout. then we can use the RC cars and trucks. Some of them would have the cameras so the RC police car that fits the camera will be used a lot. Then a pool for RC boats. It would be an interactive playmobil diorama with grand theft auto high speed pursuit action. One could get away by driving onto the RC car carrying boat.
-
for figures I am not too concerned about originality, more about useability. I'd gues originality is fun for collecting them, but personly I just want those that fit my themes.

For us its about being about to add more klickies to our larger collections and to avoid constant repetition. If we get 10 clowns we run out of options in changing them up for play (we have 3 kids who each want a unique one) or a diorama. Now if years later a new clown comes out if it had different prints or colors we can run the same cycle ending up with 20 or more semi different clowns. If the figure one is identical to the old one then we have no more new options of variety, same goes for the romans, chefs, etc......
I just noticed the handsome klicky in set 5359, then I kicked his image to the curb when I saw the opening present boxes :inlove: Must have many of those, at least 2 dozen, as long as they are plastic and not paper. Please make more of those in lots of colors, deep colors
-

Yeah, I would like a bunch of nuns as well, but I doubt that is going to happen.
-
Thanks for the run down on the myster figures. I can't wait to see the Highlanders. I guess some of them might be neat, and a lot of them sound boring. Is the nun like the special they had 4 or 5 years ago?
-
6 has ... , pirate captain (fat again),...
Slight correction: Not fat, but peglegged again. ;)
He comes with a darkblue longcoat though, so IF the colourshade matches that of existing soldiers ( :crossed: ) it will save me work on painting such coats for my British and French naval officers.
Rest of this figure is mostly recycling:
A beardtype like the ones introduced with the prehistoric figures, the same red hairpiece-replacing-hatsuitable bandana as the rapper with sunglasses and microphone in one of the previous figures-series, the torso is the same as the one from the Britisch officer (with "Mozart-wig") in the Redcoats' Bastion 5139, and the black pants with pegleg are the same as the ones from the Pirate Captain in sets 3133, 3174, 3369, 3619 and 3936.
-
I like the new high healed shoes on the legs of the woman in neon green, what is she supposed to be anyways?
Jay....The nun is all new.
-
Sure would be nice to see pictures, but I'm not going to spend $15 just to see them. Sorry, but these are toys for sale is all, as much as I like them.
-

To me she looks like a seventies student with bad taste
The nun is beatiful

Any word on US availability of the Alpine Lodge 5422?

Any word on US availability of the Alpine Lodge 5422?
My 'guess' now that we don't see advance copies of catalogs is that it will be in the early part of next year. It was an early item in Germany last year. As a tip, I bought that and a lot of the other German releases when they came out from a seller in Amazon Germany. Paid the regular price. Even with shipping it wasn't bad at all. I suspect I'll do that again this year. Last year in the US the German direct order pieces were mostly available here in the US the 1st of January.

That's great Jay, thanks!

Jay, thanks for the tip about ordering from Amazon.de!!! I would have never thought of trying to place an order there from the US. They have some great sales going on right now. I had to try hard to show restraint and not go on a buying spree, as they had lots of stuff from several themes on sale right now.
I purchased the 5422 Lodge/Chalet/Hut/whatchamacallit; the 5426 Cable Car; the 5425 Cattle Drive; and the 5424 Hikers/Mountain Spring. All for $157.03 shipped!
PLAYMOBIL 5424 - Hikers in mountain spring
Original Price: Eur 19.99
Sale Price: Eur 17.99 (10% off)
Final price after VAT removed: Eur 15.12 => $20.77
PLAYMOBIL 5425 - Cattle Drive
Original Price: Eur 19.99
Sale Price: Eur 14.99 (25% off)
Final price after VAT removed: Eur 12.60 => $17.30
PLAYMOBIL 5422 - hut
Original Price: Eur 54.99
Sale Price: Eur 36.90 (33% off)
Final price after VAT removed: Eur 31.01 => $42.59
PLAYMOBIL 5426 - cableway mountain station

Sale Price: Eur 39.79 (28% off)
Final price after VAT removed: Eur 33.44 => $45.93

Even with shipping being fairly high, I think this is a great deal, and I assumed that I'd pay about $150 for just the cable car and alpine hut alone when they arrived in the US later this spring.
-
Glad that worked out. And at a good price. Once we common folk learn what's new for next year, I except to be making some purchases again. The only down side right now is that the dollar is down somewhat from the Euro. Still, as you say, it's cheaper and quicker than waiting to get them here. :house: (I love these icons!!)
-
How do you guys know who ships to US from Amazon Germany? Or even how to read it? lol
-
If you use the Google Chrome web browser, it will translate German to English for you. I don't know about finding which sellers offer international shipping, but Amazon.de themselves do. Just like on the US site, it says who is selling it, so I just stuck to Amazon and didn't bother with anyone else. Additionally, most of the Amazon.de items have the "prime" logo on the thumbnail when browsing, so that made it even easier. Then, in the checkout process, you can use your US account, which will already have your address and credit card info (if you opted to have them remember it), so it's just a matter of clicking through the steps.... It wasn't too hard at all. ;D

The new police and armored sets have great potential.
The sea rescue collection really reminds me of the great fun I had with the Adventure People sets in the early 80's.
-
Thanks for the link to the prices Playmo-80. So many great sets in there that we will be getting for our collection. For us the fair sets are at the top of the list. All those sets will be added to our circus/zoo diorama.
The only question that pops up for me after seeing these individual pictures is why does Geobra insist on using the brown colored plastic on the wrong things. Brown needs to be in the medieval sets so we can make civilians and such or for building parts, not a brown custom motorcycle, who the hell has ever seen a dirt brown bike?
-
Nice! Thanks for sharing.

PINK WOODS. Seriously?! AGH.

I dont understand why they are coming out with so much new rescue stuff and discontinued the hospital. I wonder if they are going to make a new one?

I hope so. That's been a successful and long-running theme. It's great for any kid who is going through a sickness, or has a family member or friend who is hospitalized, to help them work through it.
-
That's it? Well, that is going to set me back a whole $10. Better start saving my pennies now.

I thought it was an awesome set, but the hospital got discontinued right as my son is getting into the playmobil stuff.. and now it seems everything else is too! :/ He really seems to enjoy all the City stuff, police, fire, ambulance, etc. Now the hospital is going for 300-500 on Ebay :/ Not paying that much LOL
-
Well, the good news is, those are all pretty much permanent themes, so if they're going out, they're probably just remaking it. Hopefully we'll see a new rescue theme in the second half of 2014. And we are due for some more city life stuff, too, hopefully besides the pink mall.
