Dear Playmobil-lovers,
Recently I discovered the site Animobil. I liked the site very much, so I decided to send an email to its host Tiermann to thank him for sharing all his research. In his reply he suggested joining this forum.
I was really surprised by the beautiful collections people present here, especially the creative part, and I'd very much like to join you. And it got me over my shame that I am still excited about toys by the age of forty
I am born in 1973 in the Netherlands and I grew up playing with Playmobil. My sister and me, we had the circus and the road workers and our pride a real medieval house. Our toys are still at my parents house. They keep them for their grandchildren. Although I might sneak out some items one day. Probably the vintage animals I want to add to my collection.
At this moment I am a mother of three boys and together with them I am building a zoo. We also have a large vintage collection my husband gathered in his youth. My ambition is to have a big diorama with a zoo and farm but my boys bring in the vehicles and pirates!
I would like to show you some pictures of our items, but my flash gives me ugly shadows. I’m working on that. You also see it in my avatar.
Another benefit of joining this forum could be improving my English. So if you see me writing strange things please tell!
Thanks for reading my story and sharing yours!

If only all British people could write English as well as you do!

Welcome, from Western Canada, to the site!
There are some good sites with tutorials on photographing scale models that would give you some lighting ideas. I'm not sure about this site (as I don't recall any on here) but Tricornejock.com has some fantastic photo tutorials!

Hello and :welcome: from Louisiana, USA! Great to have another zoo enthusiast here! There aren't very many of us, it seems. Can't wait to see some pictures of your zoo. There's a link in my signature line to a video of my last zoo diorama. ;D

Thanks for all your very kind and enthousiatic reactions. I hope to find the time soon to combine my hobby's photography and Playmobil to show you more of my collection.
Bonniebeth I found your zoomovie on YouTube a couple of months ago. it's amazing!
I will have to do invest a lot on my collection to even come close to yours. I have a dream now!

I'm sure you'll do it eventually, though. I remember just a few years ago when my entire zoo fit into one box and only filled the dining room table. I thought I'd never have enough to make a really great zoo. Now I look at it all and wonder how on earth I got so much stuff, and where it all came from!

Welcome, also from the netherlands here.

Welcome from Den Haag sunflower! Why'd be a shamed for your hobby? I know people who play with trains, others with cars, some collect large trucks or horses, what does it matter? Everyone has something out of the ordinary.
It's your life and your, ehmm our hobby  :P

And a warm welcome from Amsterdam, sunflower!
I don't think you should be ashamed of loving toys so much! In the end, it's about how you wish to live your life and not according to how others think you should live. Being able to still enjoy toys and playfulness that much, is a gift that most of us loose as they get older. I think it's just wonderful to be able to play, for me it's a very important element of life. Bottom line: enjoy Playmobil and enjoy the forum!!
