Haven't read that series, the goal was to give a bit of background to all those clicky soldiers who have been fighting wars ever since playmobil was released.  :)
Not the heroic knight, gentleman adventurer, brave captain or such, but just a common soldier who just wants to be reunited with his family after a long campaign.
