Title: Salamander's Recent Purchases
Post by: Salamander on July 20, 2013, 21:54:08
I've made a few purchases recently, so I thought I'd start a topic to document them!

First, having never previously been interested in the motorcycles before, I recently read topics by mfrankena and Martin Milner showing their motorcycles, I decided I needed one.

Loved the grey colour of this one.

Also got a little go cart:

I purchased this seating section from DS for $12.99. Best deal ever! It's HUGE! I hadn't noticed from the DS picture that it had a clear 'roof' over part of it. I love this one.

I purchased the hotel floor addition (but not the whole hotel), though I haven't taken a picture of that. I love it! I'm not sure if I'll get the big set or not, but this portion is great.  And I may be the only person who likes the pink colour!  I also got the maid and bellhop extras. So many great little details with the maids cart.

Ice cream cart guy! Really like the little scoop! Sad that I missed out on the whole ice cream store a while back.

As I have recently come back to Playmobil after a few years away, I missed out on the early Figures. But luckily I have managed to get most of them. Made a trip to a store that recently found boxes of old stock and put them out at $1.99. I am pretty bad at doing the feeling method, so I've managed to wind up with duplicates of many of them, but this time I did quite well, and the only one I got wrong was I thought I was getting an Eygyptian, but ended up with a second Swiss girl.  I think this rounds out my figures. I also picked up several duplicates which I didn't open to hopefully use for trading down the road.

And so it begins....  :P

Great items... I missed that stadium stands too... on my idiotic years. Then again, would need a bunch of them, so maybe it was a good thing  :-[

That seating is pretty cool.

Did you get that at Canadian DS or USA DS?

I got it via the US DS. The Canadian site just doesn't seem to have the same deals as the US!  Currently the Canadian site has NO products listed under  "Best Buys", and doesn't even have sections for 'Discontinued', 'Last Chance' or 'Pick of the Month', like the US does.

We have none of those either.  >:(

i had never seen the go cart come as a boxed set, only as an easter egg - when was it released? :)

The pic above IS an easter egg... Is it not?

Yes, it was an egg-in-a-box.  If you turn the box around, you can see the egg.

I know.  It's very frustrating.

Especially considering a few years ago they had a lot of Steck listed on the Canadian site and I got to stock up on castle towers, wall pieces, western buildings, 5300 floors, etc.

Bought this stagecoach from DS. I don't have any Western items at all, but I quite liked this. Love both the klickies that it came with. Half the stickers wouldn't peel off of the sheet, though and ripped. So I need to have them send me another sheet.

I have been NEEDING the coffin from the Snow White 4211 set for a Project. DS Canada said they were out of stock, but would try order it which would take around three months.  Ebay showed me that a couple had sold back in the spring, but there hasn't been anything since. US DS were partially helpful, sending me the gold base and blue insert, but telling me that the clear top is discontinued. ::sob::

Had been checking Craigslist, finally one popped up! At a good price! But over an hour from where I lived. Luckily, my husband was going to be in that area that very evening! A quick email, and a meeting is arranged! So, this coffin is FINALLY mine!

Yes I'm curious too  :)  Great to see you finally got that missing piece!

Pretty disappointing about the stickers from the coach, though. I really like the figures too.

Very good purchases!! I have the stagecoach from the big western set 4072 but I think I will also buy this set, because I like very much the figures and especially the banker. Thanks a lot for the pictures.

George. :)

Wow, I sure haven't kept this topic updated! Most recently, I haven't updated because the photo service I was using (Imageshack) became a pay service, and I wasn't up for that.  But my newest additions got me so excited that I made a photobucket account, and shall endeavour to keep this thread more updated!

I was checking Craigslist for Playmobil (not looking for anything in particular), and checked the misspelling with an "e" on the end.  Someone had a whole pile of stuff for $35 Canadian. (So about $30 US, or 25 Euros) It had just been listed, so I thought my chances were good that no one had contacted her yet.

She was about an hour from where I live, and as there wasn't anything in the pile that I *really* needed, I don't think I'd've driven to pick them up...but, my husband happened to be out that way and would be returning in a few hours and could pick it up on his way back.

So I have my first ever miscellaneous assortment, bought sight unseen (well, a few pictures!). What fun!

The sets were mostly 90% to 100% complete.  There's a bunch of stuff that doesn't seem to go with any of the sets (five lilypads!).

4463 Caimans
4462 Penguins
3204 Grocery Van
3327 Red Dragon
4175 Amphibious Vehicle with Deinonychus
4174 Spinosaurus
4173 Pteranodon
4204 Forest Animimal Den
4488 Deep Sea Diver
4203 Birdhouse
5780 Raft

Also some pirate zombies, green knights, a bit of 4847 treasure Hunter, and a few other bits and bobs. All in all I was very happy with this purchase!

:o All of that for 25 euros?? I probably would have paid 20 for the supermarket delivery truck alone  ;D

You've got yourself a nice zoo with all of that  :)

Wow, that certainly was a very good deal.  :o

Even if you can't use all of it most of it like trees, rocks, animals and various clickies can always be usefull for whatever themes you use, and you could easily get all your money back by reselling what you don't need.

Apparently I'm very bad at updating this thread. It's been about a year, and I have made many many purchases in that time!

I answered a Craiglist ad for the Roman Coliseum (on my want list at about medium), but it came with "a bag of people" and "a bag of horses", so I took the plunge and bought it for the asking price of $50 Canadian, which is about 32 Euros, 38 US, or 24 pounds.

I was very pleased!  The coliseum is in good shape, the main problem being a broken side of one gate, and one pair of the smaller gates missing.  It came with the 4274 four horse chariot, and three lions instead of one. And those lovely white statues!

The bag of people turned out to be 70 klickies. The romans that came with the coliseum, about four modern ones, a few extra romans, some pirates, and the rest knights.  My main theme is modern, but many of the knights have useful parts.

There were several bags full of accessories - the shields, weapons, flags etc etc.

The horses: as well as the ones that came with the chariot/coliseum, there were 21 more, with many saddles/bridles/those long knight coat thingies.  I already have several horses which is more than I use, so don't be surprised if I'm doing a trade and ask if you need horses!

There was also a few extra things that she threw in that weren't mentioned in the ad - an 80% complete 4007 Pirates cove superset, some fences, an unopened mermaid/neptune duo pack, and a few other things. All in all, a great deal!

There's a little pile in the bottom right corner of that last pic, that's stuff I don't think is Playmo.  I'll probably be doing a Is this Playmo/What is this? post soon!

Looks like a good deal! Personly I'm quite fussed about trying to get everything in complete edition so I wont have to hunt parts later.

Many nice clickies there though, the 90's red falcon fellow seems rare. At least he was not released over here. Looks nice!

Wow! That's a great deal, Salamander! All that stuff, 70 klickies 21 horses, the Colosseum for 32 Euro? I'd say, the haul of the year! The little pile contains a mace, a piece of fire..(I had to put my glasses on for that one) which are playmobil. The grey rectangle with 8 nops on it is from another toy manufacturer from Denmark... :P
