Hopefully, since it's generally available on THAT site, it's ok...
link (https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.526021984122502.1073741845.314111098646926&type=1)
I hope everyone can see the pics.
So.. what do you guys think?
(edit: that is not my album....)

Wow!! Thanks. And the schooner comes with a crew? Far out!!

Except the price..
(ah, and I just posted the link - it's not my album...)
-
Thanks for the thread, now we can finally talk about it. ;D
The Western Ranch - without any figures or accessories - is rather pricy at 40 euro, imho. As is the Navy schooner at 50 euro, though it comes with all the original figures (but with arrow-cannons). As these are German prices, I expect the items to cost even a little more (ca. 2 to 5 euro) in the international DS-shops.
First time I think a discontinued Surprise Figure shows up again in a set; the flamingo dancer is to be found within the new Western-family...
The classic Redcoat-soldiers (the ones with the real crossbelts) are gone, as are the rather recent Falcon-knights.
-
The museum is gone too :'( though the bakery is still there after... 2 years?

The museum is gone too :'(
I thought so too when having a first look at the catalogue, but the museum is still there: on the last page with the Classic Edition items
-
How about the blacksmith?
And VIKINGS! Not that the sets are terribly exciting (and pricey too) - but that they are available again is!

:yippee: oh! I took that one for the blacksmith too 8-)

Blacksmith on page 15.. and though I don't think there's nothing new there.. it's sooo pretty
-
Oh man! there's so much I NEED!!!
-
Do you normally have to wait about a year for these new DS items to be available in the US?
-
I couldn't read the prices, or enlarge the pictures yet. 50Euro for the schooner isn't bad, I guess. Sort of cuts down on the fleet however. As far as waiting for them to make it to the US, I had great luck ordering on Amazon.de earlier this year. I'm going to go that route again, once they are out. Btw, how soon is that?

Interesting. I've never tried that before. Do you just need to setup an account through amazon.de, or can you use your existing English language Amazon account?
-
I think I just used my amazon account. I don't recall setting up anything different. There is a topic on this from a few months ago. I got the idea from someone who had done it also. I ordered the new Alpine building and some of the sets to go with it. I had it in 2 weeks. Prices were very reasonable. And I got to be the first kid on my block to have them

You can use your English language one, and it will work fine

Really wanting to get that blacksmith, the new medieval family looks like a good improvement as well.
Definatly will try to make a big order once its all up on the dutch DS.
I'd get the museum, the blacksmith, the medieval family and maybe some vikings too.
They really did seem to listen very well to collectors, while I stick to medieval and pirates its easy to see there are some very VERY popular items going to be added.
The ranch, the schooner, the blacksmith, the carriage, the victorian van and I am pretty sure theres some neat train stuff for train enthusiasts added too. :)
Just imagine having a wonderfull batch of DS items like this getting released each year. 8}

Very excited about the Vikings in particular, although everything else is great too! :)
-
I'm excited about the Vikings too. And since I probably won't be getting any of the Asian-Dragonland sets, I might get that set of three red figures.
And the blacksmith set is awesome! That might be my first Medieval Steck house purchase. :D
-
The buildings look fabulous. What era is the schooner appropriate for?

The Asian-Dragonland klicky sets will be very useful. I like the figure designs, but I'm really not sure about the castles. I probably won't be getting them either, so this will be a nice alternative.
-
What era is the schooner appropriate for?
I'd say late 18th century and the entire 19th century.
(to be historically correct this Playmobil ship is not a "schooner", as that type of ship normally has 2 or more masts)
-
Is it a sloop?
-
"Sloop" would seem more appropriate for such a ship, imho.
Let's call it a "slooper" from now on

My wallet finds that idea VERY distressful!
The asians are nice too - I want the dragons, but will pass on the castles as well... and that weird ship thing.
-
I'd say the schooner is appropriate for the pirate, victorian and western themes. :)
And Pynedor, if the blacksmith is the first I'd suggest trying to get the bakery and museum too while they are still available. ;)
Greatly enjoying that bakery myself already. My clickies too. cake for everyone! :bdaycake:

Thanks for the info! Now, the question is, do I want to branch out into boats? This might be dangerous...

I would like to if possible. :)

i don't think that the schooner fits in the western theme. i have never seen a western movie with a ship. according to movie ''north to alaska (1960)'' the ships at that time were using steam as propulsion and not the wind.
i don't see any train station unfortunately....
i am not in the medieval era, but the blacksmith is a beauty.
i paied about 100 euros for a used schooner, not complete. i consider the price right. remember that bying a similar ship in ebay for a client abroad, could cost about 20 euros more or less, only the spedition!

Most Westerns take place on the interior of the continent. They are also movies (so not historically accurate - not to mention astute).
Steam power became popular during the Victorian era but a great many ships were still with sail power. If not most.
We did use steam powered stern wheelers and paddle wheelers (former has the propulsion drive at the rear, latter on the sides) on the rivers here because you could go up-stream easily.
The same could be said along the coastal waters.
In short, yes, the schooner/slooper is just fine to be used in that era.
They are still made (and restored) by the way and a great many boats found in marinas today are similar - yet at first thought it does not sound very plausible.
Maybe we should, as a collector community, try to get Playmobil to finally release the infamous paddle boat. ;D
-
The standard western set up is desert-y, but the klickies could take a trip to the coast. :)
A paddle boat would be awesome, but my bank account is crying.
-
Some how I picture sloop type sail ships going up and down the Missouri in the 1830s and 40s.
-
Victorian and western themes can always be combined to have the city and the wild west. They are of roughly the same era after all.

Absolutely!
You could use the Grande Mansion as a Southern Plantation for the Civil War or several different ones for street scenes in a large town.
Out here on the prairies brick buildings were super popular when the railway arrived - trees were few and far between but freight cars loaded with bricks were easy to come by.
Then mail-order houses became popular (http://www.civilization.ca/cmc/exhibitions/cpm/catalog/cat2104e.shtml (http://www.civilization.ca/cmc/exhibitions/cpm/catalog/cat2104e.shtml)) with Eatons, Aladdin, BC Mills, etc in Canada and Sears Roebuck in the USA.

Another great use for the Grande Mansion! ;D :woohoo:

I'm very happy for the new sets on DS catalog!!! Yeah for Vikings, black smith, Victorian truk and the green buggy!!!!!
And there are many other wonderful sets!!! Many thanks for the link tahra.
George. :)

A shame that the vikings in DS are the most common ones. The blonde one in purple with scalemail and the one in red green are the two I already have, and which seem to be the most common ones. Was hoping to expand them a bit with some new friends to have a bit of a viking fighting force.
Also really torn about getting the schooner.. I have no place for it but I do want it. Going to see if I can make place for it since its such a nice neutral ship that could be used for so many purposes in the pirate theme.

I love the vikings, but the options regarding the klickys were.. odd. In the first batch there were a bunch of repeats. PLEASE.
It would have been great to see different ones released... especially in less... LOUD colors.
-
Finally something to get excited about for me. The schooner and Viking longboat were on my DS wish list so definetly getting those. Will try to add the blacksmith too.
-
So much on the want list! Now just waiting for access to a DS :-[

The new stuff is up on the german site! might help to get a better look at it all. :)
I noticed a hansel and grettel set that wasnt shown before, looks like fun.
The schooner is looking great, but the dark blue parts they used to wear are dark grey now it seems. The set of three viking figures cant be found, kind of hoping myself that the figures in the set will be different than what was shown earlier.
-
nothing interesting for me on this catalog...gives me time to catch up on themes i've missed buying ;D

The Hansel and Gretel set is the old 4212 that was part of the storybook series they made several years back (Snow White 4211, Sleeping Beauty 4213). Very nice sets!
I wonder how much other old warehouse stock they have of various sets that have not been sold and they will hang on to for a few years and then readvertise to try to sell?

Looks like the Victorian park fence disappeared. I must get three more to make a complete park square before they're gone!

A concise list of what exactly did disappear is a very good idea - that way we can buy what we need to (before it is gone) first!
-
yep its gone. but should be still avaible on other places aswell.. e.g. uk or so.. i need a few aswell but iam broke :-(
-
There's some great items coming! I'm very excited about some of the Viking, Western, and Pirate items! ;D

I wonder, is this the large Viking ship or the smaller one?
