Title: Qing Bannermen
Post by: cheng on May 08, 2013, 02:53:07
a little bit of history;
"The Manchus invaded and ruled (as the last dynasty 1644-1911 in China)
with their 8 Banners/colours (segregating their Manchu, the defeated Han Chinese and Mongol troops)"

and I made more of the same bannermen...(thanks again Cowabounga for those beautiful transfers!)
and I did say I'll limit myself to 4 of each troop, but .... :P

"and it was said that Han Bannermen were not trained as a striking force and had no horses unlike their Manchu and Mongol counterparts." ....the other reason is because I only have a few horses ;D

Very nice cheng!  (I love the painted spears... will have to raid my dad's electrical thingamajigs to find some thin wire - it really looks great)

(hey, they wouldn't be able to ride in those skirts anyways, right? ;) )

thanks Tahra!
here's a museum photo of these spears used during the June 26, 1900, by the Boxers against the European forces heading towards Peking at the Battle of Langfang

(btw, they can sit because those are the PM black skirts, untouched ;)

Nice, and the chin ropes for the hats are a very cool detail. How did you do those, paint or a kind of decal?
