Title: The Leonard Family's First Semi-Annual Costume Party
Post by: bonniebeth on April 27, 2013, 18:14:11

It was Saturday morning, and the Leonard family was hard at work.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0921.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0921.jpg.html)
John and Tommy were outside mowing the lawn and cleaning the deck.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0922.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0922.jpg.html)
Meanwhile, Addison and Amy were cleaning inside.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0926.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0926.jpg.html)
The house was filled with wonderful smells from all the things they were cooking.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0928.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0928.jpg.html)
Everyone was very excited, because this was the day of the costume party.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0929.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0929.jpg.html)
The guest list was very large, and the kids were so excited to dress up in old western costumes, and to see the costumes all their friends would wear.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0930.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0930.jpg.html)
Before long, Uncle Jake and Aunt Amanda arrived, along with their children, Madison and little Braxton.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0931.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0931.jpg.html)
They brought with them extra tables and chairs, and suitcases containing their costumes, which they insisted were a surprise, so they could change there after they set up.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0934.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0934.jpg.html)
After  visiting for a few minutes, it was time to get to work.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0935.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0935.jpg.html)
John and Jake moved the big furniture,

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0936.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0936.jpg.html)
while Amy and Amanda rolled up the rug and moved the smaller stuff.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0937_00.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0937_00.jpg.html)
Addison and Madison watched the babies,

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0938.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0938.jpg.html)
and Tommy helped out by vacuuming where the furniture had been.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0940.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0940.jpg.html)
Buddy mostly just got in the way.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0941.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0941.jpg.html)
But before long, the room was cleared, and it was agreed that they should all go out for pizza.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0942.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0942.jpg.html)
Amy’s parents arrived soon after lunch.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0943.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0943.jpg.html)
They would be staying in the guest house, and the kids were put to work helping with their suitcases.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0944.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0944.jpg.html)
After some final afternoon preparations, it was time for everyone to go get dressed.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0945.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0945.jpg.html)
All went to their separate rooms to put on their costumes.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0946.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0946.jpg.html)
The Leonards were ready first, and then waited for what seemed like forever as Jake, Amanda, and Madison took turns changing in the bathroom.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0947.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0947.jpg.html)
But it was well worth the wait!

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0948.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0948.jpg.html)
After having a good laugh, especially at Madison, they called Amy’s parents to come on over to the main house.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0949.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0949.jpg.html)
They were all still laughing over Grandpa Robert’s crazy hair and make-up when the guests began to arrive.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0951.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0951.jpg.html)
Some costumes seemed to defy gravity.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0952.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0952.jpg.html)
Others were very elaborate.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0953.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0953.jpg.html)
Slowly the house filled with people dressed in every type of costume imaginable, from swashbuckling pirates to damsels in distress,

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0954.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0954.jpg.html)
 to even a gorilla suit!

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0955.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0955.jpg.html)
At least everyone was pretty sure it was just a suit… though he ate nothing but bananas and didn’t say much.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0956.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0956.jpg.html)
(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0957.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0957.jpg.html)
The adults chatted.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0958.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0958.jpg.html)
The children played outside.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0961.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0961.jpg.html)
And the big kids played outside, too.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0963.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0963.jpg.html)
Later in the evening, there was some interesting karaoke,

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0964.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0964.jpg.html)
and everyone danced a strange sort of conga line led by Grandpa Robert.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0968.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0968.jpg.html)
Only two people fell into the pool that night, and were promptly “rescued” by Buddy.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0969.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0969.jpg.html)
It was a memorable evening, and as the guests left, many told Amy and John they hoped this costume party would become a tradition.

(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0970.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0970.jpg.html)
They didn’t say much, but their smiles told everyone that another party was already in the plans.

A great story, nice to see the Leonards again, this time without a fire.  :)

Many great costumes there, the chimp is my favorite.  Nice of Klick Kong to drop by as well.  ;)

(and the cowboy misplaced his gun :o )

Yes he did! I noticed it was gone as I was getting everything ready and meant to go find it, and then forgot about it until after I'd taken all the pics!

Thanks for the comments everyone. ;D

Great story!! Buddy dragging Snowwhite out of the pool  The first part reminded me of the Sunday mornings of my youth: everyone having to help out with cleaning and the expectation of a family party.

Oh and I really love the house and outside space with the guest house and the decking and such
