I have been looking out on ebay for a 'British Bobby' (policeman) figure for some time. This is a fixed-wrist klicky in very dark blue plastic with a special helmet. It (and other klickies and sets) was marketed under the brand name Play People by Marx toys in the UK between about 1975 and 1980. (see here for more details of Play People: http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?action=post;quote=29333;topic=2576.20;last_msg=29736 (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?action=post;quote=29333;topic=2576.20;last_msg=29736)). I think the klickies were manufactured by PM and at least some of the accessories (like the helmet) were made in Swansea. Or maybe geobra made all the parts and Marx toys just assembled the klickies and sets, with new packaging.
The British Bobby klicky is highly desirable and fetches high prices; four days ago one went for £67 on ebay (28 bids, 9 bidders), NOT a price I am prepared to pay. However, I was recently looking for some old fixed-wrist klickies and found a lot of 47 which looked suitable. In one corner of the listing picture I noticed one of the klickies was a sherrif wearing THE helmet. Well, I won the lot for just £4.20. When it arrived (today) I discovered it contained FOUR of the dark blue police klickies (3 male, 1 female), the helmet and also two flat police hats from the Marx Toys range. What a bargain!

That's a great find!
I love those dark blue klickys :love: , I don't think I have the shorter hats for them though... Hard to find a matching color.

Great bargain!

That's a great deal! I have just one of them and one of the shorter hats. It would be great if one came out in the Fi?ures series. I wonder of the hat shape is trademarked/copyrighted?

I've picked up loads of them over the years from ebay. Always look in the photos of old grouped Klickies or Playpeople as he is normally in there, and can be picked up for a couple of quid for the lot

You can reglue the foot using glue for ABS and it will basically weld it together.

Yes, I have some of that, but I've got to find the foot first :-[

One of these figures arrived in a mixed lot this morning. Inside the policeman's helmet is a black rubber gromit sort of thing-the hat fits him fine but I just wondered if this was meant to be there. Does anyone else have one like this?
Thanks.
Verity. :)

I don't know if the gromit is anything to do with the figure (but its amazing what you find in secondhand PM lots!). My policeman figure hasn't got one!

the hat is nice but that price. 8}
Gues that clicky (bob the bobby?) might feel very wanted.
