Hello All
Most of you will probably know a bit about me allready but i thought i would take this opportunity to re-introduce myself to everyone.
My name is Tim and i live in the West Midlands, England. I have been interested in Playmobil since i was a child, being introduced to my first blue box at the age of 5 or 6. I am now 27 years old and still collect and make things using Playmobil.
As a child my most cherished possesion was my Playmobil fire engine which took pride and place underneath a table (the fire station) in my living room. On numerous occasions it was proppelled along my living room floor and down the hall into the garden on some form of emergency call. This was usually accompanied by me making siren noises through the house, i was certainly popular with my parents ;D.
It was back then as a child i used to dream about having my own Playmobil fire service complete with lots of Playmobil tools and equipment. Little did i realise this was something that i would be able to acheive as an adult collector with the help of a very good friend of mine. I collected and played with my Playmobil untill i was about 14 when i parted with my collection to raise money for my first computer.
I never lost my love for Playmobil and i allways knew deep down that one day our paths would cross again. That day came at a car boot sale a few years ago when finally decided to start collecting it as an adult. Not long after this i met some wonderfull people ( you know who you are ;) ) on the internet who shared the same love for Playmobil as me. I also met my very good friend who, through his amazing custom's introduced me to the wonderfull world the Playmobil fire service. It was also through this friend that i discovered i could do anything i wanted to do with Playmobil. It all seemed to grow from there really and as well as making a lot of custom vehicles for my fire service i started making construction vehicles and truck conversions too. I have never looked back and to this day one of my specialities has been the making of Playmobil vehicles.
When i am not making vehicles i still like to do a lot of other different things with my Playmobil including painting klickies and creating story's with pictures. The story's that i like to tell with my klickies can be funny, scary or dramatic, but of late slightly scary ;D. Allmost all of my pictures are taken in my garden in the real world so to speak. Afterall this is where i played with my klickies when i was a child and where i feel they look more 'real'. Within the next few weeks i plan on sharing some of these pictures with you.
So there it is, a small introduction to my Playmobil interests. As time goes on and i get to share my work with you, you will be able to learn a bit more about me other than what i have written here :).
Regards Tim

Welcome Tim,
You were lucky to have playmobil as a child.
I am too old to have experienced that.
We hope you find this to be a very welcoming, fun place to visit.
We are interested in your stories, and your customs.

Hello Meg
Thank you for the warm welcome. I think you are right i was really lucky to have Playmobil as a child, it certainly helped me develope my imagination. I spent hours in the garden acting out story's with it as a child, mind you i do the same now
Tim :)

Welcome to the board :)
-
Hi Kvart! Welcome to you too! ;D
-
Hi Tim!
Really happy to see you here at PlaymoFriends! :D
Thanks for telling us about yourself and your hobby. :)
Can't wait to see some pics and stories from you. Love your avatar, btw. The unusual angle, the helmeted fig and the B&W medium combine to give it quite an eerie atmosphere. 8-) Is there a story of some kind behind it?
It's be nice if you could post a bigger pic for us either here or in the Gallery board. ;)

Thanks for summing that up for me Sylvia ... I was trying to figure out why that avatar 'grabbed' me so. It's very 2001: A Space Oddysey
-
Tim,
please post a larger pic of your avatar in the gallery.
you know me and my mania for avatars.
I would like to be able to keep fairly current with my new collection ;)

Hello All :)
Thank you very much indeed for the warm welcomes, they are very much appreciated. I cannot tell you how happy i am to be here, its great to be amongst my friends again. I also wanted to say thank you for the kind feedback on my avatar. I sent a preview to Diana a few weeks ago and she said he would look good as an avatar so i decided to give him a try. The picture has come out slightly blurred but i think that it adds to the atmosphere. I will pop over to the gallery now and introduce you to him and give you a bit of background on the story :)
Regards Tim

The picture has come out slightly blurred but i think that it adds to the atmosphere.
I totally agree! The slight indistinctness just adds to the mystery, rather than detracting from the pic. 8-) I was thinking of old photos I'd seen from Man's first ventures into space, but Serenity's comparison with the Space Oddysey film is bang on! ;)

I must say it was difficult to keep Tim's avatar a secret! And wait until you read/see the story he has in strore for us! :o >:D (Spooky! Appropriate Signature too Tim!) ;)

Please give my best to Derick! It has been nearly a year since he was with me here in Boston, and while I would not call him an ideal house guest, I do miss him! ;D
