Great job!!! ;D

I put one of these together recently (the usual way ;)) and I recall there were a lot of fiddly pieces. 8}

The sticker would have been a real challenge, but I'd imagine those tiny gunpowder thingies were also very difficult to pick up and place correctly without opening the bag.

I might try this with the next Special I buy and see how it goes. Fun idea! :D

  What a strange idea. But I like it. Very well done!  :)9

Thank you Sylvia for this information: now I know what these little silver things on the belt are; always wondered what this is, but never thought of asking, because they look somehow cool; thought this is only for decoration; never got the idea that this is some ammunition stuff.

Gunpowder thingies! :yup: ;D

Now all I need to do is work out a better description than "thingie".

Actually... it was my husband who said they look like they would be used to hold gunpowder. Before that, I tended to think of them as bullets. :-[

Only problem with that challenge is the parts would come in several different bags.
Otherwise, I think Andi probably could do it.... rigging and all. ;)

Would if I could, but I was only going by my previous experience of building Playmo ships.
The new one is still on my wishlist. ;)

That's a clever idea, andi, especially getting the compass sticker on. I have enough trouble getting the stickers on right with everything out of the box.

The technical name for gunpowder holders has slipped my mind, but I think it begins with a p.

The real challenge is to put it together without opening the box...  ;D

Yes, the grey small cylinders holds gunpowder and bullets. His pistol is muzzleloaded, so after firing his one and only shot, he must measure up the correct amount of gunpowder, insert it in the gun trough the muzzle, followed by a bullet, and then a piece of cloth or paper to stop it from falling out, and use the loadingstick to press it all together, and then pull back, prepare and load the cock and "balcony" *phew*  8} Try to do this when someone are shooting at you in the heat of battle!!!

Therefore the right amount of powder, bullet and paper is prepared and ready in grey easy-access cylinders. Gives the pistolholder a good and somewhat fast firing rate  :)

This has been bugging me so here is a definition from the 1913 Websters Unabridged Dictionary:

Bandolier (n.) A broad leather belt formerly worn by soldiers over the right shoulder and across the breast under the left arm. Originally it was used for supporting the musket and twelve cases for charges, but later only as a cartridge belt.

Bandolier (n.) One of the leather or wooden cases in which the charges of powder were carried.

They are also referred to as cartridges in some places.

It's been bugging me, too, Tim, and bandolier was the word I was after.  Thanks for digging it up.

I thought I'd have a go with the 5796 fire chief.  It's not quite so tidy as andi's as you end up with either the drum lid or the flames spare, and it's easier as there is no sticker to peel off the backing paper and then stick on, but here it is.
