Thanks for the news! I'm convinced it is no customization, it looks too official.
And very strange nothing was showed or said about this in the PCC or on the Nuremberg Toyfair... ???
Perhaps it is indeed a USA-exclusive theme...  ::)

Here's what the press release says...

"Adding a tech twist to its classic toy line, PLAYMOBIL introduced a new PopStars! theme featuring an MP3-compatible Stage. Kids looking to live out their musical dreams will love combining the set with any MP3 player to belt out their favorite chart toppers as the PLAYMOBIL band jams on stage."

"STAGE (PLAYMOBIL/Product #5602/Suggested Retail Price: $39.99/Avail: August 2013) Play a sold out show featuring your own tunes with the PLAYMOBIL PopStars! Stage. This MP3-compatible set allows young pop stars to belt out their favourite lyrics, drum up awesome beats, and wow crowds with radical guitar solos. Just hook up an MP3 player with the enclosed cable and choose your favourite chart topper. Set includes four figures, stage with flashing lights, drum set, two guitars with guitar stands, microphones, two preloaded tunes, built-in speakers, and other accessories. Recommended for ages four to ten. Warning. Choking Hazard. Small parts. Not for children under 3 years."

Now I'm very curious as to where and when these sets will become available.

Awesome! I like how it can be hooked to an MP3 player. And the tour bus looks cool. This is a good attempt at targeting a slightly older audience (8-10 perhaps). Hope it's successful!

Thanks! Is there a link to the full version of that? I mean the same info for the other sets?

The stage is the same strange set from the hotel, right? I LOVE this tiny stage (and more that band!), but I do wish they'd stop putting electronic thingamagigs/light/sound/whatever on playmobil :(

Wonder what included tunes are..

Yes, I too think it is a remake of the hotel stage that I think also has the MP3 hook up.

I quite like it - except the size and the "blinkies".. It looks great! Shame it doens't seem to "expand" to the sides..

Still wondering if this is real.....

I don't think that there's any tunes included. You just have to provide your own through an MP3 player.

Probably they use the USA as a pilot market.. when it's a succes they can launch it in Europe. I think it's a good idea and maybe they can kids keep longer interested in Playmobil.

The black electric guitar is nice but...... WHERE IS THE BASS GUITAR? Every band has it (few exceptions as The White Stripes, the Ting Things and the Blood Red Shoes)... Larger, longer neck and 4-5 strings instead of 6
When you do it, do it good.... especially a brand with a good eye for detail..

Yes Geobra included a red, blue, white and the black electric guitar but no bass. The drummer also has to stand up, don't they usually have a stool?

A stool would have just been aggravating though... the klickys ALWAYS fall off.

We put them at a 45 similar to how the piano player needs to sit. Sticky tack goo always works also if you rally want to nail him down. The more shows that we do I really see why other members have all accessories gooed down.

Oh my god, that is awesome!!  I've been waiting for a stage like that for years!!   The tour bus is awesome too.  Looks like my band is moving on up, they currently tour in a rickety old RV.   ;D ;D

The potential for this is awesome. I can picture Abba, Beach Boys, Jimmy Buffet, Elton John, and a host of others on stage. Maybe even the Supremes.  However, not only will this need a bass, we need to add a horn section, and a grand piano. Then some risers for the go-go dancers.   I'm racking my brain for a roof top building also.  Probably able to fit 4 guys on the roof of the Victorian mansion, but not a string section.

I suppose they could be actual songs, but that is unlikely. It's also unlikely that they will be instrumental classics since that won't fit at all with the theme. I reckon they will be instrumental (to avoid language differences) guitar and drum heavy, typical Rock-like songs of short length. A developer probably made them using a computer programme for the release.

Yes, that's the only angle where they have a chance... besides, they can't reach what's in front of them with their feet sticking straight out. Even with klickys at tables, I usually put some at the edge of the chair at that angle for variety. But yes, you must use sticky tack in either case, or they don't stay.

That is probably why some of the new fairies are designed such way that they're not able to sit  ::)

FINALLY, someone else mentioning the darn fairies - I've been wanting to know what's with them since the first appeared. And STILL didn't figure it out!

Do you have details?

I think noisy sets are a bad idea. What a great way for parents not to buy it again...

Do you have details?

On the "news"-page of the PCC where they show the different sets and release date of this theme, the Playmobil-team said that some of the fairies are not able to sit down, because of a combination of the torso of the bikini(speedo)-figures with a new skirt-design. So, it seems no bending over or sitting down anymore, just the arms and heads are moveable on these figures.  :(

AGH! I missed that somehow :(  Will have to find it and whine about it at the source!

As if the lack of interchangeable parts wasn't bad enough :(  Hope they pop the same. Some of those torsos are very nice. And the arms are AMAZING. A lot less useful after that dreadful discovery, but still GORGEOUS.

I sure hope it becomes available here too. With all the shows like the the Voice Kids and such, it's bound to do well.

The royalties would be too much. I'm guessing they'll be generic, made up tunes.

News from Playmobil in the PCC:

They uploaded detailed pics of the 4 sets included in the theme. It is indeed a US-exclusive theme and will be sold at retailers like Toys r Us etc. starting around september/october 2013, but they are considering - depending on sales succes or not - launching the theme internationally in 2014.
And they promised to make the theme available through the Special Sales for PCC-members in 2014.

What I would like to know is why it does not work the other way around. Why don't Europe exclusives get offered to the US?  It sucks being the 2nd class citizens in playmobil. Still waiting for the green car.

What about us 3rd class citizens?   :o  We don't get the German exclusives and we don't get the USA exclusives.  :(
I'm hoping that the pop stars are really a North American exclusive - and TRU will be selling them in Canada too!  :)

Ok bad example  :-[ but you get the point. I really want the victorian truck but that one is a store exclusive so another bad example.

Brain not working this afternoon, just spent the night in Mission Vallejo adobe ranch w/no modern anything or heat (it was 25f.)  w/15 kids  8} slept 3 hours on the wood floor . Had guard duty from 1 to 3 am.

Most TRU exclusives are available in Montreal. The only thing we missed out on are Target sets. For instance both FAO Victorian and soldier are available here.

Right you are, DsD, we also got the FAO "exclusives" here in Victoria... so I am really hoping that the pop stars make it here as well!  But there were some exclusives that were not available here.  Now that we are getting Target stores in Canada, it's really too bad they don't still have their exclusives.

The blue one 4083. It was for a store that ordered it for an anniversary. It is the same type of situation that TRU did with the FAO. The order was initiated with Geobra from a company that bought them all wholesale and resold them. The set never was sold by Geobra

That is way it is a bad example, Geobra had no say in how it was distributed AKA custom order
