I had a great time taking part in the Seattle train show this year, thanks to Glazz74 for inviting me to help out. Also present to help was Knight Train, and Ronastoo joined us for Saturday afternoon and dinner. I have lots of photos online in my Flickr account.
Train show photos can be seen on my account http://www.flickr.com/photos/71879015@N00/ (http://www.flickr.com/photos/71879015@N00/) starting there and working along for about 90 images.
I have three set up photos I took but seem to have forgotten to upload them. They will be posted later today.

This is my part of the display, the Prehistoric Forest park along the end of the layout. It is 18 inches wide by 8 feet long.

There is also one video I put together. It just shows the trains running. These include the freight train and two slightly different versions of the work train. The second with a custom work crane we came up with on the fly.

My other contribution were a couple of tank cars done in custom livery for Jungle juice, It's Fruit! seen here

I may post a few other favorites out of the group later when I have time. Feel free to ask questions

				Nice diorama & look's like a fun exposition  :)

-
Wonderful train show. Many thanks for the link and the pictures Tim. It looks a great expo and I would like to see more if it's possible.

 George. :)

Great pictures.  I was fun meeting everyone and going out to dinner.  I hope we can do this again next year.

One of the things that interesting about this layout, is other than the tables and wood between the tracks in a few places, it's 100% playmobil.  All the buildings, trees, are 100% playmobil, with the only exception I could find is the copper smokestack on the playmobil locomotive in the engine house as seen in this picture.

this looks like such fun, tim (and knight train). it's been nice going through your photos on flickr, tim. great to see the range represented. what camera /lens did you use?

-
I use a Canon PowerShot SX210 IS for both stills and video.

The dark shots were actually taken early the next morning when we were back to finish setting up.

Its a lot of work isn't it  ;) Wish the damn US was not so large.

Very nice to see all the pictures of Glazz's layout. Its always enjoyable to see it .

What scale were the other pictures? Those pictures of the roundhouse were very nice. I really want a LGB turntable for a proper roundhouse diorama
-
Most are N with a few HO, the tags on the right should give an indication if I remembered. The big roundhouse is N for certain. it would take a lot of space to do a full on in G. It definitely would be a fun project though

nice shots for a point and shoot!

Thanks for the excellent photos and video, Tim.

 That's some work crane custom!

The fact that the railway is raised for so much of it's length gives me some idea how my layout might end up looking as it will all be raised.
-
He's done an interesting thing there. The railway itself is all on a single level but many of the foreground areas are dropped down, and it's certainly possible to raise the background with platforms as well.  With the differing levels in the foreground you really do get the feel that it's not just one big flat space.

-
I like the idea of having lower and higher areas of a diorama. We do our shows on the ground so I have to figure out a way. The way glazz has the diffrent elevations is quite a nice effect. It really looks good where the water is lower than the land.

The only problem with that type or crane is getting it stabilized so you can use it

Yep, looks great as long as you don't turn the cab. It tips badly then. A heavy center weight was my first thought. Did you ever come up with a solution you were happy with?
