So last night I needed to go to SanFransisco to pick someone up at the airport. I decided to satisfy a little smiling faced voice in my head that keeps reminding me of recent deals found at TuedayMorning, a US discount shop, and how they have been clearanced. I have been a bit let down my this years TRU clearance selection and I can always use my cheep playmo fix. I checked on their web site any stores that would be on my route. I found 2 that were and planned plenty of time to make the stops. At the first store I found one truck, one flat car and the special. At store 2 I found 3 trucks and 2 train cars. Now the best part. The trucks were $24, the train cars $9 and the special was $1.20. The plane got delayed by 5 hours and I had to wait but I could care less as I knew I had a load of playmo in the back seat.
When this truck first got revealed to the public years ago I liked its design so much that I told myself that I had to have a bunch of them, well I think we have a bunch now, there is about 10 now.

Wow, a whole lot of this specific truck you've collected then! You're about 2/3rd as mad about it as I am about a not-further-specified pirates' ship ;D Btw, did you wear a flower?
(I'm allways a bit more silly then usual around the time of the German toyfair)

Great bargains!
I really like that truck too.

Well worth the stops along the way! The trucks and train cars are a nice addition to any collection, congrats.

The truck and trailer are what I regard as modern classic Playmobil; I've got one and don't intend to get rid of it ever.
Nice selection of rolling stock, too, although I must admit I increasingly prefer the original brown versions.

Great buys!
I gave up after checking in the one easily reached shop in my way to Seattle. I ended up buying 3 of the hoppers and 2 flatcars off Amazon at ok prices. Still less than half a full price car.
couple of interesting points for those that may not have handled them. The hopper car is a plain flatcar in dark grey, and the blue sections clip on top of it then the yellow bins drop in. So you can have a car with one bin in the middle, or one on an end and half a flat car, or leave them off and you have a simple flatcar. I like the versatility of that. The regular flatcar the yellow sides actually are clipped onto the side of the flatcar floor using the little black hinge clips like in Steck doors. So the sides can be removed and again you have a plain flatcar for other uses, that one in light grey. With the yellow sides up you can fit 3 but not 4 of the large barrel on it's pallet, and it's a little loose with 3. I'm sure if there is an interesting way to get a bunch of those on a flatcar Rasputin will figure it out. ;D

Looks like you purchased a truckload full of trucks.

great finds. we grabbed a couple trucks over the last 6 months and this is the single reason we may break down and buy the remote control plus set. still haven't been able to bring myself to...
these were all clearance tagged as well, right?
interesting to see the special figures you and ismene picked up. seems random which makes the prospect of finding something less recently liquidated.
anything else interesting there as far as playmo goes?

They had the circus 123 puzzle, the rock klicky, some 3 headed serpents, some road concrete saws, the circus horse show and the 123 snail. Only the serpent was not on clearance.
Yes all the items I got had the yellow tag. I also learned that there is a date code on the price sticker. If the item is in the store for a year it will get clearanced starting at 25%

thanks for the info, ras. great finds, once again. you will have a serious convoy and, for that reason, should consider a kris kristofferson custom!

Too bad the TM here doesn't have the horse show. It has the semi, a couple egyptian sets, the 123 snail and the merman king. I paid less than a $1 for the captain (not sure if that was because it had been there awhile, because of the sale, or because the box was open already - the bag was intact).
-
I was hoping for more egyptian sets but only was able to find about 6 at our local TM. All the others did not have any but the train cars and trucks did make me able to cope :P

did tuesday morning used to keep year round stock or has it always been seasonal with the primary shipment around xmas? i regret not getting back into playmobil sooner as there are so many items that i'm certain most of you have or easily had the opportunity to get at a healthy discount - i.e. the pyramid.

TM in my opinion has only had random sets. There is no rhyme or reason, its just what did not sell at "X" company. Some time ago when Target sold the Specials called Pals it was quite obvious where the stock came from. I really do not know where they get these lots as the truck or train cars was not at TRU, Target, Walmart, or any other large retailer that I remember. There always seem to be a supply that has been pretty consistent, minus a few dry spells. I think these types of stores (Ross, TM, Tjmaxx, etc..) like to find higher quality items and playmobil does have that reputation. I never remember the pyrimyd but I do remember a scaled down arena.
I just will never complain about the fact that TM lies about the SRP. They jack it up and then claim to have 50% off. Not all items have this. The truck was listed as $89 and I seem to recall it around there from Geobra. It had a price of $40 and with the 40% off it was $24 or 73% off of original MSRP. In my experience it has been pretty rare for me to get so many nice large sets with the yellow tag 40% off. I usually buy it before :-[

Looks like you've got yourself quite a nice haul I can't really speak from experience on trains or trucks but, they look like good sets particularly the truck :)
