Title: New: single klickies (without accessories) as Add-On sets on GERMAN DS-website
Post by: Hadoque on January 11, 2013, 20:15:51
Geobra has come up with a new idea:
They just added single klickies (old designs and new ones) without any accessories as Add-On sets to the German DS-range.

It are all figures belonging to the City Life theme, not sure if figures for other themes will follow later on...
Here you can see them on the German official website:

http://www.playmobil.de/on/demandware.store/Sites-DE-Site/de_DE/Search-Show?cgid=Ds_Figuren

Price is about 2,5 euro for an adult klicky and 2 euro for a child klicky.
If they ever are incorporated into the range of international DS-shops, then they'll probably cost a little more (as usual), what would make them more expensive then Suprise Figures that do come with (a few) accessories...  unless prices of the next batch of Suprise Figures will be raised too  ::)

That's GREAT. For germans.

The price is probably close to buying them as parts. Did you see the chinese woman's face is a sticker?

Wish that'd appear here too! :)

Oh that's wonderful! I see at least three that I must have! I hope they start doing something like that in all countries.

Yes,it seems to be double faced, and from the other side to have normal face! There was a rumour.from some of my friends, that many faces will come as stickers in the future!

I'd say it is about what you pay for a figure without accessories from DS.  It's sensible to sell them that way as I imagine most buyers wouldn't want the accessories and those who do can buy the extras through as DS parts.  I hope they spread it worldwide (I assume that it will be limited to Germany at first as a trial).  I am short of modern male figures and there are one or two female ones I want, so this saves me having to go through the individual plans.  I may be wanting someone in Germany to do some buying for me, especially if the range increases.

Stickers are used for prototypes. The actual figures will have printed/injected faces as usual. When they first showed the Fi?ures, the designs on their clothes were stickers too, that's when I asked and got that answer from Playmobil on their FB page.

I just think it's bad that they put the images like that. This time, they look particularly HORRID.

I think it's the greater and greater quality of images we support. A few years ago, with our slooooow modems, this would be unthinkable. But now, with the big resolution, you can see everything. They should at least paintshop it a bit. Better, use a chinese head!

Thank you Hadoque for the info and link

To me # 30142640 looks like a transvestite, looks like male hair on a female figure  :hmm:

I just do not get why this is done? Its so easy to buy loose figures on auction. Is it a way for Geobra to get rid of unwanted klickies?

The price to me is way to high. I understand DS selling individual klickies at that price when you have to factor in all the manual labor it takes to put a parts order together but to pay this much for a single klicky that is prepackaged w/no accessories is too much. I would buy them if the figures were soldiers or something but not for modern folk one can easily buy on auctions for $0.50

Noticed that on the chinese man, too! Looks weird...  :hmm:

Interesting and a good idea if a greater selection is eventually available. I did notice that on the last page you can buy a family for 8.49 euro.

Nice!  I definitely want to diversify the collection...  Though Playmobil has gotten a lot better with adding different ethnicities...

THANKS so very much Hadoque!!!!!!!!!
this is FANTASTIC for me as I dont buy from ebay and almost only from German DS

thanks for this reassurance Arnaud! I definitely wont want any 'paper' faces

...btw, there's a 'magician-kind-of-art' of rapid changing of real paper chinese opera faces (so fast you'll be asking 'how they do it?') that's being preserved till this day by a few followers
(sorry to deviate Hadoque, but just to share..you might se it on some tour someday to the far east)

(speaking of paper-faces, I was thinking, Arnaud, your skill in creating transfers will be also good for those who need moustage(not beards) on brown or even black faces ;) )

Hmm, those also used to be in the UK DS selection but seem to have vanished now.

This could be promising if figures from other themes appear. The prices are a bit high though.

Do you guys notice they are listed as the klickies themselves only, using the spare part number without ANY accessories ?
Those guys are just missing the hat, which would be weird for non-customizers.

But after all it is a good start, people do not have to get stuck with a lot of other unwanted parts if they want the figures only. And they have been doing this too for the new sets, where even people have no access to playmodb can order the figures from the spare parts webpage, though they are priced 3.5 Euro or beyond, unlike these individual figures.

Thumb up to GEOBRA

This could be useful if someone is looking for a specific figure. I'm not terribly interested in the current selection (buying DS families makes more sense if I wanted these figures), but maybe there will be more interesting ones in the future.

These are not repetitive body parts but good choice of uncommon klicky parts with Afro hair, red rolled up sleeves etc.
I see dark blue sleeves brown hands and another with black hands (sorry, no racial slur intended), there was a time when I was searching for these to make Buffalo soldiers and and indian scout for my US cavalry.
Even though I'm not keen on any of these now but there'll be more for sure if people do buy them... so we've got Fi?ures, specials and now these....Geobra was never so (cant find the right word :P) in the past...no complaints but accolades for Geobra's development team! (diod they hire one of us or did one of you buy up a significant shareholding in Geobra?? ;D

I hope we'll have this possibility in the near future.
I like buying klickies individually.

Playmobil probably realized how popular they were on Ebay and decided to do it themselves.

I wonder if the best way would be to be able to buy all the parts you want and put figures together as you'd like. Sort of taking the surprise figures to a whole other level.

Very nice idea, although the prices are much too high, considering all that is being offered is a klicky without accessories. ::)

Definitely want some of those clickies  :)
But the seperate parts available on the German site make me a lot more jealous.

It seems like a great idea, but it really is too expensive as it is. Costs the same price as a special pretty much, but without the accesoires.

Just hoping for basic soldiers, medieval clickies and such to be released like this as well. Would be neat if theres several medieval soldiers to choose from, and seperate arms and armor packages to combine it with.

I really do wonder why some toymakers don't release more individual figures or figure packs. They are always the most popular items in the lines, and everyone always wants more of the figures. It seems like it would be an easy way to sell some products.

I would think soldiers with accessories would be far more profitable than these for Playmobil.

I've been looking for that ethnic lady with the yellow dress on page 3 for ages, but on eBay they go for 7 euro at least..  Is there a German Playmofriend who is up to order anyway who can get some for me? Please let me know...

Cause cynically, toymakers think that fans and buyers would buy the bigger, more expensive sets in order to get the klickies they want. In their dreams - I'm not DYING to get the three pirates from the pirate island ...

I'd gues they mostly expect people to buy that big island for all its gimmicks, the clickies just being part of that set. I dont think theres that much science into how they decide what clickies go with which sets. I'd gues they first design the clickies for the batch, and then decide which pirate groups offer nice variation in the set.

That's definitely true, but they can still have the larger sets and more smaller or even medium-sized ones. I think figure packs of just ten or even twenty figures complete with accessories would sell very well. Seeing these individual figures makes that seem more possible for the future. :)
