Title: one last christmas decoration
Post by: Rasputin on January 09, 2013, 23:39:52
I wanted to take a picture before this thing got packed away. I am not sure what it is called but the candles heat spins the center. The center is filled with carved and pained wooden figures. I have wanted to take them out and replace them with Klickies but they are too tall and there are no kids to accurately represent all the characters, oh and the wife would kill me  :P She bought if for a few dollars and just loves how it works so well. Kind of like finding  a complete playmo Steaming Mary for $10 at a yard sale or equivalent.

This is how we decorated it this year.

I love it too, of course I love anything that spins or goes up and down!  Your wife obviously has great taste!  ;D The Santas and angels are just the icing on the cake.

Thanks for the feedback on the decoration  :xmascheer:

Yes Joe, its a big hit with everone just for that reason.

Ismene, She never would need a reason when living with me

Thanks George, hopefully next year we can redecorate it and have it as a center piece of a Christmas  diorama

Tahra, thanks. I would prefer it to have playmobil as the characters and then your restraint would be futile

Thanks Pynedor, its actually takes the "cool" right out of a room, its burning hot

Maybe it was a cooling fan invented by the famous Polish inventor who also made the solar flash light and screen door for the submarine.

it is a Christmas pyramid.... originates in the Erzebirge mountains of Germany.... careful though, they burn quickly if they catch fire  :o

The whole thing or the candles? I was worried about the angels up top melting from the heat.

the whole thing, they are generally carved from pine so they go up like kindling. My brother was over at someones house there once and saw a 4 ft one go up in about 30 second when somebody opened the door too quickly and the flames got fanned over and caught some extra fluffy carved sheep on fire... then the whole thin went up  :o

sounds exciting  :D Yes this looks like it is made from a light wood and with all the varnish and all I am sure you are correct in how fast it would burn to the ground

The 4 footer might be just the one we need for a proper playmobil transformation

Looks very cool, my parent sbought my sister a very small metal one to hold a tea light it has little owl hanging off the blades and it spins around quite nicely I can imagine that one will also look nice when it gets going  :)
