I'm looking forward to several of these.

Thanks for the pics! I've only seen small pics where it was hard to see the details.

Thanks for these pictures!  ;D
I think the wizard and girl-pirate look awesome, but the mad scientist has wierd eyes, I don't know if I like that. :hmm: the rapper looks odd too. And... is that snowwhite?

Yes,,,,there is a new part which is grey on the wizard's hat!!!!!!! And according to the printing, he obviously belongs to the dwarfs team.

And the female pirate also looks like a musketeer....perfect!!!

Looking forward to them too...

But WHY is the wizard not grey? And not being grey, WHY must he use the SAME darn torso?
(on the plus side, maybe that skirt matches a bunch of torsos we have - my sister will want a few if it does!)

Getting a little tired of how often that light green/sea green combination pops up. Now with the wizard, before with the dwarf and dragonland figures, and soon with a new warrior too.

That king looks nice though, I might look for him and that pirate lady.  :)

And... is that snowwhite?

That is most definitely a very Disney Snow White.

Wow, some great stuff in there! Some is pretty repetitive, but still, I'll want them all. And yes, I definitely see snow white and rapunzel. Love the hula girl.

Doesn't that fairy in green with the pink wings look almost exactly like the one from series 1? ???
Title: Re: Series 4 figures.
Post by: Pynedor on January 02, 2013, 15:11:45
The fairy does look really similar to the other one, and they both look like Tinkerbell. I don't mind the Disney influences much since I enjoy their versions of fairy tales, but I certainly hope that that isn't really supposed to be Rapunzel!

Why not?  (I think she is meant to be her... not sure why though, besides the hair)

The hair isn't long enough!

And they use the same hair on some of the new fairies I believe. Rapunzel would need a unique hair piece for sure.

The hair isn't long enough!

Quite true! Just longer than we're used to for klickys, I guess. I haven't decided if I like that hair or not yet. I think I'll have to see it in person.

Me too! Doesn't look overly gorgeous in the pic...

Looking forward to the new fairies... the weird colored hairs are great! (and the horsies). Still VERY curious to see the klickys themselves... hope there's nothing wrong with them... (well, the skinny ones look like circus acrobats, not fairies... but apart from that)

How nice, a female musketeer!

Why don't they ever have playmomen in female-dominated roles, though? A guy with a pushchair, for example ... or a male air steward. That sort of thing. Not that it bothers me much, obviously. But if you're gonna go moder, might as well cater for everyone.

Because its the same reason to always have only christian symbols, its what the masses expect  :hehe: can't cater to everyone, only the mass market and must fulfill their stereotypes

Just out of curiosity was there ever a female pirate or musketeer who wore a dress in reality or just folklore? To me it looks as ridiculous if Geobra made a female construction worker or astronaut in a dress  :hmm:

What bothers me about this wave is that there's things that couldve been made better. For eg - what's the point of a Roman soldier? Why didn't they give us a Roman civilian instead? And so on.
Title: Re: Series 4 figures.
Post by: tahra on January 02, 2013, 16:32:41
Well... better a roman soldier than no roman at all.

But why a light green wizard, with THAT torso? And that ... thing with the full diaper... Suppose interesting parts (except the legs) - is the hat new? the head?

I agree, I really wish he came in different colors... your gray example would be very nice. ;D
But still a nice figure, probably will buy him if I can find any Playmobil out here. :hissyfit:

I like a lot of this group, more so than Series 3. I like the pirates, the king, the native (Pacific island?) girl, and a bunch of others.  I was in a TRU today. Lots of Series 2, no Series 3, and no reduction on price either.

couldn't have geobra easily enough made the baseball player diffrent from the last one that was at Target so many years ago.

The Indian, Roman and the fireman all look like recycled as well.

The Asian rapper reminded the kids of PSY who sung gangnam style

I think it is pamela anderson from the babe watch show.

I think best chances for dresses are with early female privateers or pirates like Lady Killigrew and Grace O' Malley (both 16th century).
Anne Dieu-Le-Veut (17th century), Anne Bonney and Mary Read (18th century) are more likely to have worn men's clothes during privateering/pirateering...

I prefer the boys figures to the girls plenty there that I'd buy which is good for me not so for my wallet  ;D the Wizard, Baseball Player, Fireman, Roman, King, and Blue Alien might have been tempted by the Indian if not for the fact I've already got 1 Chief. The only reason I'm not bothered about the somewhat obvious simlarities ona lot of the figures is that I don't have many figures in my collection but, I can see how it might be frustrating a bit more creativity and variation wouldn't hurt. I'm not keen on the rapper and the pirate doesn't do much for me

The pirate is pretty much the same as the one in the second batch, also a long coat but less accesoires. No feathered hat, no beard and no green skull on a stick.

Might have been nicer if they went with a black pirate, there arent many of those.

wouldn't a candle solve that problem, its would look nice to see a klicky hold a bat or sword with both hands in a striking position. Its like getting horses that actually look like they are running.

It might have been better to be barefooted on pirates' ships, at least during battle. Slippery decks -> woops...(wo)man overboard! Ordinary sailors with mast- or deckduty often didn't were shoes, an officer or a captain certainly would were shoes or boots.

Good thing you didn't mean Keira Knightley. I think that the Pirates theme in general has been supported by the Pirates of the Caribbean films recently, especially with the darker tones of the last batch. I like the movies though, and I can see how she could be related to the one that Penélope Cruz played, but I still think it's a cool figure. <*)

How long? A plastic one that went to her feet or maybe put a hole in a specail hair that a blond rope went into so you could coil it up and then let it down out of a window.

Well, if it must be Rapunzel, I'd say it should have been flowing down her back, at least to a point close to her feet. It could be braided down her back to make its length be thought to be longer without having a piece of hair that is longer than the figure itself. Take a look at Rapunzel from Tangled:

They should just make some Fairy Tale themed sets; that would be awesome! Rapunzel's Tower please! <*)

that animated girl in the picture is able to twist her right ankle very far  :hmm:

maybe if the wig went to the klickies ankle there could have been a place to attatch the rest of the hair? but a whole would look bad.

What would a tower look like that stecks or system x castles do not have ?
Title: Re: Series 4 figures.

they could have made a hairpiece with a system X connection at the bottom that could be expanded as long as you needed for any tower

I noticed that too and tried to see if I could twist around that far with my ankles and feet in that direction. It didn't work for me...

Probably not much. I'd be happy if they made any sort of tower, even if it re-used parts already out.

maybe if the wig went to the klickies ankle there could have been a place to attatch the rest of the hair? but a whole would look bad.

That doesn't sound like a bad idea. There could be a braided hair piece to avoid the hole if you misplace the extension or don't want to use it and then another that isn't which has attachable pieces. That is a really cool idea, but I think that set would be beyond even a Special Plus! The System X idea would be a bit strange though, but might work if a whole tower were released.

On the theme of Fi?ures Series 4 though, I see now that we have this figure confirmed as Rapunzel, but they haven't confirmed the other as Snow White. I suppose that's because Rapunzel doesn't look exactly like Disney's film version, but the Snow White one is clearly based on Disney's. I'd say the Tinkerbell one is as well. Fairies seem popular now with the Tinkerbell films and such, so maybe even the new theme might be based on that.

It really does seem like the Fi?ures line has a lot of figures that are based on stories or even real life. Sometimes I think that's cool and sometimes not.

Also - is that a special female swordbelt on the pirate? :o

Whatever you say re their Facebook page, it is still a million times snazzier (and more 'happening') then anything on the PCC pages.
Title: Re: Series 4 figures.
Post by: tahra on January 11, 2013, 12:43:27
Well, the PCC pages can't make up their minds what they're supposed to be. They try for Facebook AND Forum, and make a mess of both.

Doesn't help that people can't seem to follow a VERY simple instruction - and AFAIK, nothing is done about it. Write in ENGLISH. Is that VERY hard to understand? Apparently it is.

I'm still stupidily hopeful that something will come out of it.
Title: Re: Series 4 figures.

I don't really mind the fact that a good 30% of members pigheadedly insist of posting in languages other than English. What I do mind is that four months in, we still haven't had the opportunity to benefit in any tangible manner (the pirate klicky and the lanyard don't count, guys). Is the 10 euro on a per annum basis? Will I get to see any benefits in terms of special offers and so on by the end of the year? I'm hopeful, mind you. But as it is, it should have been all properly set up from the word go.

Are those high healed shoes on the pirate lady?

bb you are so right about a saloon gal, your other two were just right for our town and we want more similar multi themed designs.

I do not even want to get going on the pcc kindergarden or is it preschool now but its so hard to keep bitting my tong.

A fan can make a very popular site with their own volunteered time, yet a multi million, no half a billion dollar company can not even put together a decent site and offer some sets for sale. Sounds like our government with all the bureaucracies. Too many dollars and no cents, aka sense.

A fan can make a very popular site with their own volunteered time, yet a multi million, no half a billion dollar company can not even put together a decent site and offer some sets for sale.
I'm still in shock with the latest newsletter.

I wonder how theyre doing. I only ever bought about four bags from series 1. Stopped when I ended up with the first three American tophat guys. I never liked the concept anyway, PLUS theyre very expensive in mainland Europe - more than the 1 99 we were promised originally.

Thanks for the great pictures Tahra

The firefighter, the baseball player, the roman and I am sure there are more all look like old figures and prints. If they had to make a new production run of these figures would it have been all that hard to change the print just a little to add variety to the product line?

cause theyre in a rut - they have been in one for a number of years now. the last great theme was the roman one. save for that and the welcome DS reissues, there wasn't really much that amazed the average adult collector.

the last great theme was the roman one.

Totally disagree with you. After the Romans there have been Egyptians, Prehistoric, a new great dinos series all of which are excellent. The latest zoo was their best of those yet, I love the Future Planet but all the gizmos do make it too expensive. There are always things you can disagree with, but I think they have continued to do good new stuff.

Lots of complaining about the lack of originality in this series. I agree, but really - how many of these figures have they released in the last year? Compared to how many of the old specials they would do, at least 4 times as many - 48 compared to 12. Plus they are doing the Specials Plus line on top of that. It's hardly a surprise there would be a lull once in a while at the pace they have been going.

No. If they just used different colors, it would make all the difference! IMO, not THAT hard.

Exactly, would it really be that hard to not put in the green or orange pellets into the machine that is making the santa elves ? How about red, yellow, blue, pink for all that I care but anything different.

Perhaps they will look closely at the suggestions made on the PCC about figures and sets. I do agree that the PCC is a tad disappointing. I hardly go on as so little happens. I do hope they will utilise some of the ideas though - there are some fantastic ideas. Imagine if they issued specific figure sets, like a Roman set, with both military and civilians, a modern theme etc. Sure, they would be taking a gamble but it would be great for lovers of particular themes or Playmobil in general.

You know the little v-shaped cut on the back of a normal klicky head? The two-faced figures have that on both sides. You can't see it under the hair, though, and I don't see it in that picture.

So - excuse me - what is the point of releasing so many waves if there's gonna be so many repeats? Id rather they only had one proper series a year, with very original characters, than this extremely cynical venture.

The problem with the PCC as far as Im concerned (the main one, at least), is that it should have been aimed exclusively at adult fans of PM - make it a bit more grown-up. Cause as it is, it's a little bit like this form (with all due respect): you have to be careful about what you say all the time just in case there's children around, but honestly: has there ever been a 'proper' member of this forum who was also a child? Cause it seems to me that in reality and in practice, the average age in here is more around the 30-35 years old mark. Same goes with the PCC - aiming it exclusively for the adult market would make some things much much more possible. The kids have the current, shop-stocked ranges anyway.

 :) :) :)

The pilot looks like a jet fighter pilot w/great glasses. I guess he will be piloting one of the two fold up ones we have. It top bad that there really would be no way for Geobra to make a modern larger sized jet as all of them are military based. You really do not find civilian two person jet plane models. A plane that is the size in between the older jet passenger plane and the fold up. A two seater where the pilot and copilot are in a row not side by side. Maybe if it looked something intended for the space theme but would be easy enough to paint it into a fighter jet. All the helicopters models pretty much cover that need for a long time but there are too few planes.

The girls shirt is one of my favorite ones. Its just that I have 20 of it already. Even if the shirt was slightly different I would have wanted it. The legs, they are medical orange w/white tennis shoes. I am not sure if they are repeats or not but they look good. Looking at the shoes I start to wonder if and when colored 3D printing evolves  will we be able to print colored shoes w/laces ? The picture is so good Tahra it looks like if I used a 1 haired paint brush a steady hand could paint the shoes details. I guess that also means the molds must be very intricately made.

Thanks Tahra for the pictures

Not really a jetfighter pilot. Maybe for a low-altitude subsonic aircraft, like a COIN- aircraft or something.
A jetfighter-pilot should be equpped with a G-suit and a completely different helmet  (this one is rather a helicopter-helmet), an oxygen-mask, etc.
I agree it would be cool if Geobra would release an aircraft that resembles more a "fastmover"!

I guess they're trying to make it only vaguely reminiscent of the story, so they don't have licensing issues. A handheld mirror makes me think more of Beauty and the Beast, really.

I don't know - I think they took a HUGE risk with the Lara Croft rip off.. I'm actually very surprised they didn't get sued. (spelling?) Or maybe they did pay licensing? Unlikely, and if they had, it would be known, no?  Or maybe whoever owns Lara is a playmobil fan?

A handheld mirror makes me think more of Beauty and the Beast, really.

The catalogue is out already???  This seems a bit early... I'll be heading over the my favourite toy shop on the weekend.  Thanks!

Those release dates for the Fi?ures sound more like what we're used to.

thanks for sharing these very clear pictures George & Tahra! ....havent spotted any parts I need but perhaps the clown's legs would be good for a opera stilt-walker during the hungry-ghosts festival ;) ...but definitely not green ::)

George.
i have mixed feeling with this guy. Kinda a filler for this series with repeated parts and ideas.

yeah..the tall clown is probably the best thing that have brought back through the series!!!!
Electric guitar was also reintroduced in the earlier series. I hope Geobra can bring back all the string instruments in this line.

I really like the tall clown. Nice to have that re-done. And the king is gorgeous!

In the disney version, the beast had a magical hand mirror that she could look into and tell it to show her her father, or whoever she wanted to see, and it would show them to her.

yes, but the mirror is part of the original story too. I mean, it was not a Disney idea.

Oh, that chef is just gorgeous!!! I love her! The emplem on her shirt makes me think of the series "Chopped."

I must admit I don't know the story other than the disney movie. :-[

With that upcoming chef, the baker from the last series and the DS pizza restaurant equipment, the restaurant Chez Playmo will be awesome.

Thanks for the pics :)

The first looks WEIRD. We want the legs for a clown. The others are good :)  Especially the alien. Multiples wanted.

Hello tahra. You can see all the figures from series 4 on PCC. ;)

WHERE?! I can't find them anywhere :(

The site is completely confusing to navigate. Or I'm just too old.

Thanks for the direct link - but how do I see them from the site? I visit on a regular basis, peeking at the non-forum, the main page (where the news seem to be), downloads... And I NEVER saw those.

Only through the photos?

On the first page from PCC, you must find the choice "☞ Publish photos, videos and blog posts about your collection and your PLAYMOBIL expertise" and it goes you with a new window to the pictures from the members.

Here is the first page:

i think it's for the same reasons that came up in the other topic. murky site architecture.

Yesterday I have bought my 3 first series 4 figures in Amiens.
The indian is really great, I love his feathers a lot. Classic, but cute.
The female pirate is OK (I don't like her feet, too girlie or doll-like for me !) but I'm not a big fan of her. She'll finish her days in the prison cell of my 5139 fortress I think !
The mad scientist (one of my most wanted figures) has weird eyes, not that good. And big disappointment : he's missing an arm ! Maybe an experiment that has ended badly...
I'm planning to buy more figures soon (and post pictures) !
