Title: Victorian Sets other versions????
Post by: retronio22 on December 16, 2012, 00:16:53
I found these 2 photos and I remember that there was a reference in a french blog, that first version of 5320 had red carpets, instead that the "yellow" color that we know. These photos may be from 5300 box.
Also in first German Catalogues Kitchen set (5322) and Grandmother with maid (5500),in the basket was included some green vegetable (like these that they have been used also in sets with bunnies)
Finally in another catalogue (that I can't find now) I had seen 5321 woman but wearing a collar like this that woman wears in small victorian house (5305) but in white color!
Do you know about these differences???????

WOW!!!! I haven't noticed the carpets..... There are a few other differences with the victorian series on the catalog - box pictures and the actual toys. The living room tapestry was a little different and the curtains also. If you look more carefully you will notice. As far as I know the first version of the 5320 has the common carpets we all know (they are pictured in the box too). Now these carpets over there, they were probably customs and never made it to the market ;)

Hm... I've only seen the set with the beige/brown carpets. The red looks nice.

I had noticed the carpets too when the catalogue first appeared, but I've never come across those carpets anywhere ever since.

They might look similar to the carpet used in set 5315, but I don't think it's quite the same (hard to see).

Playmo1989 is right, I think.

It could plausibly be the same one, but I can't place the larger red one.

The red carpet on the 5300 box picture is from the original mock up of the set before the big production run... the closest we got to that carpet in reality was the grandfather's den, but from the first one.. http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-81-3410

I found these in this catalogue which I think you are remembering retronio.

Here is the first picture

Then this one shows the carpets in more detail.

In the grandfather's room I believe the carpet is also different and the photo in the frame is not the one we all know.

Carpet difference in the piano set?

Then there's the vegetables in the basket and the pretzel guy has tweezers.    8-)

The homeless man has a different coloured hat and is that a slightly different outfit?

Vegetables in the kitchen and the pans look more 'coppery'

Then the one I'm surprised I've never noticed-the car has brown interior, the top lights are not gold and the girl has a different hat which can also be seen on the next picture.  Also are the wheels slighly different or is it just the angle?

The company logo of the piano is also stamped lower to that index picture thanthe original... I wonder why they had so many differences in all these sets?

Good eyes, Verity!  All that would have gotten past me.  Like the leeks in the vegetable basket.

Really? I love the red. Brown just seems a bit odd with the yellow.

It's amazing how many differences there are. And I don't remember seeing them.
