Hi:
Does anyone here have both versions of the yellow medieval house? There is the pottery house 3455 and the add-on yellow framework house 7379.
If you have both, can you do me a favor and put them side by side to compare the color of the yellow walls? I'd like to know if the color of the yellow on both houses is identical, or if they vary in shade.
Thanks,
-- Kenny

I don't have both in my possession but I can tell you that they are not the same color... the add-on house is a lot lighter... I would even go as far as to call the pottery house "Orange" by comparison.
-
Both are packed away right now, but I can confirm they are the same yellow color.
BUT... it depends how long the old pottery home was exposed to climate and weather conditions, sunlight etc etc, that can effect the color to look either lighter or darker. The new yellow house add-on has certainly a more vivid yellow color.
-
so which one is it  I have paint and everything is the same color ;D
-
100% guarantee that they are NOT the same color ;) again I don't have a picture but my brother and I had 2 pottery shops (neither ever saw sunlight) and both were darker and more orange than the add-on yellow house...

they show the same color difference as in these pictures in real life ;D

yep I agree with this too. I have them both and they ARE NOT the same color. The yellow in my pottery is a lot more "orange" than the add-on yellow house.
-
It certainly does look more orange than the add-on one. I do not have any classic ones
-
Definitely NOT the same color.
If someone tells you something else it could have two reasons:
1) color blindness 8-)
2) the person has been tricked and was sold a new one for an old one (or the other way around, the the person was lucky)
-
Challenge accepted! I'll dig them both out and take a pic!
The pottery house I have since childhood! It was a Christmas present from my godmother back in 1988
-
So the consensus is that the Pottery house was an "orange" tint of yellow and the add-on house was a "butter" tint of yellow?
I'd love to see photos if Wolf Knight or anyone else would like to post them.
Thanks!

Even with everybody else saying the opposite, I will put my faith in Sir Wolf's opinion. Even if he's wrong, there has to be a very good reason that I want to hear!

Clear as water.
Left pottery, right add-on.
What did I win? what did I win? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
The GURU title?

Here is my pic too:

So? Verdict? Can you guess which is which?
-
The upper one is more orange and has the white door and window so that's the pottery ;D
-
Maybe I am colourblind ::) but I see the upper one, which is indeed from my old pottery house, as a brighter shade of yellow, not an orange one. But I do find it interesting that yours is indeed more orange, Gaston :eh?: Could it be that the original colour changed for some reason back in the early days due to first ans second edition production lines? ??? ??? ???
-
mmm no idea... btw mine is from the 80's too but produce by Antex, that could be one thing. But if you look in playmodb the pottery looks kinda orange too.
It's yours Lyra?
-
I think these photos prove that the potter's house and the add-on house were of two different shades of yellow.
*sigh*
One more variation to collect...
:D

hmmm I really cannot remember... :-\ The pieces don't have Lyra written on them... But maybe it is

Did you mean to say they are not the same, Panos? Sorry, I'm just confused, it seemed you said they were the same and then said they were not.

The picture revealed the truth... convince yourself.
-
Yes, I realize that, I was just wondering if he initially misspoke and that was what caused the confusion.
-

Well, to me they are still the same. I see no big difference. I say again, maybe its because I am colourblind.
But yes,bb. They do look a different shade of yellow. Should we have the gold colour issue discussed again? ;)
-
They are very diffrent to me, but then color tones really bother me. I can take years to pick out a color tone when painting something important/semi-permanent like a car 8}

Panos can err… how disappointing! What's next then? Is somebody going to tell me Star Wars is not for real? :-[
-
It also depends how the picture was taken (light, camera settings). I think the first picture (tonguello) shows the more realistic colors.

You already know about Santa, right?

no, you can still belive in that, its just that the names and time period were changed to protect the not so innocent, and I have seen santa, many times ;D

Hey I don't know about star wars, but Star Trek sure is real     And Santa is captain of the USS Reindeer!!
-
well still i don't have a new edition of the yellow frame house! or blue!
and I'm jealous!
-
Hey Gaston! I know about Santa: he charges the parents for all the presents! >:(
(I have three kids, remember? So don't ask about the stork, either! )
Thanks for the hint about Star Wars, Ras. I can still try to lift that bloody pencil off my desk with the Force, then. Been trying for over thirty years now, Jedi training is a long hard way! ;D
-
...Jedi training is a long hard way! ;D
You can say that again, I've been working hard at it since I first saw the movies when I was six.
-
Back to this interesting topic as i have both the old and newer version , old from a MIB set i got which was in exceptiponal condition and not exposed to the elements much i believe , i can confirm that there is a difference in the basic color between the two. The other noticable difference of course is the white/brown window/door frames respectively.
I prefer the old color as it is more realistic if you ask me . ;D
-
I quite like both. Seeing how most steck houses are white with a red roof, any change from that is very welcome, as long as its in realistic colors. The white with a red roof is a bit overdone.
That's why I don't really like that all castles have red roofs.
