Title: Airport.
Post by: PlaymoMan on November 10, 2012, 20:42:45
I'd love to see an airport to go along with the new cargo/passenger jet that PM just released. Here are my ideas. :)

Airport:
It would be two floors tall, with one side open for easy access. Upon entering the airport, passengers could either head for the departures or arrivals area. Unlike the two earlier airports, there would be two check-in desks, each with an attendant, along with two self check-in machines. Once past the check-in area, the next stop would be security with an officer and baggage scanner. An elevator would then transport passengers to the second floor, which would house the gates. There would be several benches, a small cafe and a gangway, much like the one from set 4311. The colours of the airport would be quite simple, white and grey, with small blue accents. (I found it silly that the previous airports, 4311 and 3186, were coloured in the livery of the 4310 and 3185 airplanes).

More airport-related set suggestions coming later...

Neither link worked for me.

Anyhow great ideas! I think the airports would have been a lot more successful if they had more closely resembled real airports kids have seen. Having a cafe inside is a nice idea, I would also add a magazine stand and a small gift shop or gift stand with post cards and toy airplanes. Another cool detail that for kids is probably one of the best things about an airport is a moving sidewalk. If that could be incorporated somehow with a little turndial or something, it would be neat.

Walts Playmobil Collection web site.
Just to let you know that I have had to shut down my website due to some malware getting into the site.
After a talk with my internet server I decided to remove all the web site.
Please pass this information on to any one that may be interested.

I will however rebuilding the site with extra pages.  Hope to have some pages up soon.
All the best to you all for Christmas and New Year.
Best Regards,
Walter
