I just discovered the wonders of Cif (used to be called Jif - a cream cleaner for bathrooms/kitchens) for taking off print from playmo last week, and I was debating whether to de-sunify him or not, but wanted to check he wasn't some rare promo or something first :)
CIF? I know what I'll be trying tomorrow! :P
Any special considerations/tips?

Well, you could do the bathroom while you're at it? ;)
Seriously...nothing special. I used a bit of kitchen roll and squirted the Cif on it and rubbed away. Was taking red print off a white body and (it was a day of LOTS of experimentation... nail polish remover, oven cleaner, you name it hehe) when I first saw the red on the tissue it was 'yess!!!' lol It takes a little bit of rubbing, but doesn't seem to damage the plastic with scratches or whatever.. although I did use tile polish (squirty stuff that I had in my cleaning cupboard handy.. probably wouldn't have bought it especially) to give the shine back at the end :)
Good luck with your de-printifying!! :)

Barkeeper's Friend is also supposedly good at removing transfers, but I haven't tried it myself, as when I bought myself a tub my mum pinched it for the kitchen ::)

:-\ You might be right.

Thanks! There are so many modern torsos....

I was told the same... but it can't be found here.. Have no idea what's the equivalent :(

Ok.. Can you post a pic of the CIF you are using?
I'm not having a great success :-(
Mine is some lemony variant... But I will get another!

I wonder if adding a bit of baking soda to it would help (adds a bit of grit). I'm not familiar with CIF though. I haven't used baking soda on painted parts, but I have used it to get rid of scuffs (like when parts get markings from rubbing against other plastic parts).

OK, when I checked in the cupboard I realised it wasn't 'Cif' but the co-op's version of it (cheapskate that I am!) - buuuut....it is the same thing (I think!)

Here it is in all its glory, with stylish accessorised cleaning cloth ;)
It took a little time to get the print off, but a bit of patient rubbing got there. Not sure if this helps or not...or why your Cif isn't working :/ Maybe the baking soda idea will work better... I'll have to give that one a go too! :D

Thanks Gyps!
It seems to be the same "variety"... While the first scrub seemed to do progress, after that it didn't seem to go nowhere...
Later tried with aceton-free nail polish removal (from my mom) and "metal cleaning cotton" (from my dad), and worked better.. Still a bit of a hassle. Wanted something faster and easier :-[ Still.. will hunt some more to "clean".
Thanks!

Good luck! Nail polish remover did nothing for mine, but didn't have any metal cleaners to try - if you hit the magic formula, let me know!

Will do..
Those two worked well, but a lot of work... I'll do some more testing on the weekend, I hope..

No no no !!!! CIF is a bad idea (in my experience)
Even the CREAM CIF has small polishing particules.
Yes it will remove the print ... as much as the natural shine of the plastic's clicky.
Been there done that! :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( I DO NOT recomend it (unless you don't care the clicky ends up looking dull and flat)

Nothing a nice coat of varnish cannot hide, Gaston! I prefer to use sand paper, 180 then 400/600 grit, then the Cif with an old toothbrush. With 600 grit sandpaper the part is a bit dull, I grant you that, but if it is to be covered with a sticker/water slide decal, who cares? :)

I tried my glass cooktop cleaner this morning and I think it did a pretty good job. It is called Astonish and I got it on QVC. I think it is made in Great Britain. It took about 2 minutes of rubbing (I just used my finger.) The picture quality is not great, sorry. :-[ The color looks lighter in the after picture, but that is just due to my picture taking skills. ;D

PS It really does a great job on glass stove tops (best I've found) and also found it to be a great cleaner for my fiberglass shower stall.

Cooktop cleaner is a good idea! I may have to give that a try.
-
I just tried a cleaner for glass stove tops (different brand). Took about a minute to turn a female head into a standard klicky head.

Okay, I don't understand. A "female head into a standard head"?
Do you have pictures so I would know what you mean?

Me neither! Why woud you do that, and not just replace the head? :hmm:
-
IE - I took out the eyelashes and the blush.

Because I don't have a spare standard head to replace it with. I only have spare heads with eyelashes and such.
And also, I wanted to see if the cleaner would work without dulling the part before using on other parts that have more printing and are less replaceable.

I just tried the glass hob cleaner and it worked wonders and so easy to use :yippee:
Thank you Joe
