I have not been to the upstairs of our barn for a few months. I finally felt the overall desire to clean up a bit before winter set in. I vacuumed up spider webs, wasp nests, sometimes birds try to build in there, rats try to use it and have to be rounded up, and a stray kid finds himself in there having a jolly time.
The table has not been changed and I am not sure what to do with it, take it down, picture story, or something else. The kids are bored with the dio and I lost interest in setting it up after so many months.

It looks great, though a bit dusty. You could try to incorporate it into some other setup.

Yes it does get dusty up there :-[ I just do not have that much room elsewhere, you will see the mess.
-
so here is the third level of this side of the barn. The dio table in the middle on the East and this three level area on the middle West
Not much has changed but things have been taken down, used, played with and returned so this would basically be our home port for the ships. I have not counted how many of which ones.

This is such a great space, Ras. I would have trouble taking that dio down. :'( I have the same problem with dust accumulation. Have considered spraying the cats with endust as they get everywhere. Could you use any portion of this with your upcoming display? Maybe with some new additions.

Wow. You have a lot of ships! :o

Wow, that's one very impressive collection!
Wow. You have a lot of ships! :o
Ditto, I've never seen that many before! :o

Cleaning up and maybe isolating the barn a bit better so theres no birds and rats around there might be a good first step. Wouldnt want poor clickies to get frightened by such monsters.
It certainly is a wonderfull place, maybe its best to start fresh on a new set up after dusting it all off. :)

.... and a stray kid finds himself in there having a jolly time.
That stray kid is you, Ras? ;D
I have to agree, I also would recommend trying to patch some holes (if that is possible in a barn...) and try to get a closed "room" without rodent and dust problems. It is a pity to see all the nice Playmobil covered in a layer of grey-brownish dust. Must be hard to clean the canopies of the market stands...
Cheers,
HDL

Wow!!!! Amazing collection, so many ships you have there, Well done Ras.
George.
-
I would love a barn like that, never mind the occasional rat. With a fleet like that, the clickies will be able to defend themselves 8-)
If you're bored with the dio, nothing is more inspiring than cleaning it all up and putting it in boxes and hiding the PM out of sight. Next thing you know, you really really want to take it all out again. Or at least that is what always happens to me :-[
-
The rats are annoying pests and usually only invade when our walnut crop is dropping. Typically I can keep them at bay most of the year. The birds, actually swallows are very useful to us as they hunt mosquitoes by the thousands so I really do not like chasing them out.
The dust is annoying but what do I expect on a farm. The toys clean up fine and even the material cleans up nicely. Sometimes it adds an element of reality to a dio, especially western.
The ships are on the list to have a make over. I plan on taking one down at a time and properly outfitting each one with a crew, rigging, sails and accessories.

Here is the shelf to the South and yes that is a MISB 3666
On this self I tried to make a street scene. I had a road it the middle of the shelf with houses on both sides. At the end, the far dark end, is a construction site that I will have to take pictures of.

Awesome display, although it looks like there was a minor earthquake that occurred in the street scene. ;D
I look forward to more pics! :)
-
so here is the other end of that South Side shelf.
Looking at the picture it sure looks like an overly crowded construction site

So now moving on to the North side, the historical themes.
I still have it set up like it was for a long time. Some of our tudor houses, seige towers in the middle of the road. and Romans and Egyptians on the floor. All the boxes you see in the pictures are still waiting to be opened. I am sure once I do a public diorama they will get opened very quickly.

One more of the floor area and I now see that after the Romans there was an area of pirate themed things

This is no barn, the door to that barn is a gateway to the hidden realm of the clickies. :(o):

The Lost Kingdom of Playmobil. Amazing! 8}

Yes, thanks for noticing my obsessive, addictive, fill in the blank.... personality. I learn to live with it ;) oh the suffering :P but I still say it beats using the funds for med's, headshrinkers, energy orb people, etc......
Here is what we like to do with it, photographs. I just took these before we break it down or set it up more and with new ideas. Brown wood chips, rocks, light colored saw dust type of things, oh and the tarp for water.

You have so many great sets, Rasputin. And that last town setup looks cool.
-
It looks very lively. :)
-
That looks like the barn of "the Holy Klicky" himself  :captain:
You do have a lot of stuff Walt and must have a very big wallet too :P
But i'll gladly take some of your hands if it's too much for you to keep clean :shhhh:
-
Mind boggling collection.

You have a great collection Ras, well done.
So many boxes that you don't opened yet.
If you need any help, I'll be somewhere around here.
Friendly George.
-
I really like the last picture: almost as if it were a real town. The backdrop works really well.
So, those are some of your Tudor houses? :o
By the way, I don't think I could ever leave PM boxes unopened. I mainly open them within ten minutes after purchase (wherever I am)
-
1) when you've just spent a pretty penny on a MISB sent, you really think twice about opening it;
2) when you've bought multiple boxes of the same set, sometimes you can afford to keep one or two unopened
nice collection ras, nice barn, too. it's the kind of space city people can only dream about :(
-
Personly, I am another supporter of the clicky liberation movement. ;) No box remains unopened, then again I never buy old sets MISB.
-
Nice barn Rasputin , you've got like 25 medieval houses
