Title: PDF Signs
Post by: Ismene on October 30, 2012, 12:18:05
Inspired by another thread...

I've started dabbling with a few PDF signs for customizing Playmobil buildings. When I have a few more, I will group them into sheets for easier printing. There doesn't seem to be any way to send large files through PlaymoFriends, but I can email them upon request.

Thanks to Rasputin for providing some western measurements!  :)

Suggestions are welcome, though I may need measurements if they are for parts that I don't have and for which I have no measurements.

The fine print:
You may use these for personal use, but please don't sell them in any form because (1) It wouldn't be fair for someone to pay for something they should have gotten for free. (2) Certain fonts may require a license for commercial use if projects using them are distributed to other people. [I purchased some fonts for commercial use awhile back, and I'll probably be using a combination of these fonts and free fonts.]

Great idea!!!

Will you make one that could fit the triangular sign that comes with the Bank?  ;D ;D ;D ;D That would be awesome!

I could, but I don't have measurements for that sign yet.

Lol, well, I can't help you with that.

You'll have to take that up with Playmobil. The name comes from the Victorian photographer's case.

I could, but I don't have measurements for that sign yet.

I could meassure it later when I'm home, if some doesn't do it before that  :)

They look great and I intend on using them. I too have the problem of not wanting to remove the stock sticker so I will just cover them so I do not damage them. I will print them on harder paper, maybe photo paper and use removable double sided tape  ;)

I did forget to measure the other signs. The green triangle sheriffs office 3786, the gold nugget 3787, the new take-along 4398, and I do not have the old bank or the new fort.

It is better to scan the stickers from the original sheet than to take measures, from experience. And while we're here, it is utterly important to scan the sheet in 300dpi, otherwise you'll get issues with the dimensions when printing. (We had that kind of issue when I made stern stickers for Erwin…)

Scanning would be ideal, but I'm not sure if anyone has the older decals still on the sheet.

I don't

 :-[ :-[ :-[

It's the Hotel I have still in the original sheet.
Anyway, I scanned these. Maybe they work like that.

Just in case you need some reference the length of the sign is 23.3 cmts. I scaanned them at 100% but they look a little bigger in the screen. Maybe if I send you the files you'll get it better.

let me know.  :wave:

Thanks for the scans. I think I can work off of those. If anyone wants to check to see if this will fit properly, let me know.

ETA: I had font indecision. I think the 2nd one might be better.
The general store has changed hands.  ;)

I like the second one better for the post office. That's hilarious with the general store! I really like it though.

I had a little trouble working with the scan of the saloon sign, so hopefully the proportions are okay.

I'm thinking for the printable files, I'll need to expand the outer borders a bit, so there's no white edge when they are cut out.
