Hi Folks,
here comes a short boxopening of the new Cargo Train set 5258.
This set contains the new locomotive , a flatcar with three little containers and a circle of tracks.
Pic1 and 2: the box itself from front and back side
Pic3: after opening the box, the inner view (Where is the loco????)
Pic4: three new little container, 2 Klickies, instructions,...

Pic 5: the brown box with ?????
Pic 6: Ahhh, here is the loco, but it looks "naked"...
Pic 7: a naked flatcar, new construction of the side walls, can not be lost so easily....
Pic 8: side view of flatcar
-
Pic 9: loco from top: the small screw (lefthand side) is the locker of the new battery case....
Pic 10: side view of naked loco
Pic 11: bottom of loco: two traction tyres.....
Pic 12: front view

Pic 13:
Pic 14: the other front view: the small but important difference are the two litlle knobs/buttons next to the lights.
One is the on/off-switch, the other is used for the frequency selection, a kind of pairing
Pic 15: remote control in bag
Pic 16: remote control without bag.....
-
Pic 17: back side of remote control: they are using special screws for the device.....
Power supply is a 9V-block battery
Pic 18: partly equipped loco (side parts and roof)
Pic 19: now fully equipped loco (including coupling and buffers)
Pic 20: flatcar with three little containers

Unfortunately I had no batteries at home therefore the technical part will follow.
The main differences to the old RC-locos are:
now 6 batteries type AA in the loco,
a new battery compartment which also can fully removed from the loco.
No chance to charge batteries in the loco, no plug available
Loco can be switched on and off
No need to change xtals when you have moren than one loco.
2.4 GHz remote control
Lights are changing in direction.
If loco stands still, 2 red lights on both sides.
If loco is running, 3 white lights in driving direction, 2 red lights on the other side.
A sound modul is implemented, two sounds available (engine noise and horn signal) both are triggered via remote control

The three new containers have no doors to open.
The old container does not fit on the new flatcar, it´s too long....
BTW: the loco has two engines....
Unfortunately the wheels seems to be plastic , maybe it is possible to exchange the axis....
Technical review will follow.
First impression:
A nice set with room for improvement....

Great review. Hopefully, they'll continue to develop trains using this new remote control technology - like a new steam engine or western train!
I sure hope these come to the US next year.

Excellent review , thank you sir !!!! ;D ;D ;D
As for the train i would rather see it with an old electric motor and LGB tracks, i just cant get to liek those plastic black tracks..sorry..... :hmm: :hmm:

I like it. I need/am planning to make a small room in the shop for my PM work-shop. I should plan in a train track area for it. Again, nice pics/review.

How much did the red rc train go for when it was out ? around here is was $150-ish
To get this set at $100 is a great deal and if this price/set makes it to the US I will be getting a few of them

The features of this train are awesome. I only have playmo trains and this is a big step forward , i would however prefer to have it with proper electric power with LGB trucks...
Iguess if i was to put in it an electric motor for the LGB track all these features would just disappear wouldn't they ? Awww i guess i can alway run such a train on the LGB tracks but a battery train is just not right for me :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm:
I guess i will probably stick to my 4051 and 4052s..... :(
