I thought this bit of information deserved its own thread! After Ace pointed out in another thread that a new theme is now visible on the german playmobil website http://www.playmobil.de/on/demandware.store/Sites-DE-Site/de_DE/Search-Show?cgid=Afrika I noticed that the WWF insignia is plastered all over these sets! I'm happy to see playmobil promoting preservation. Also explains the reason for the release of this somewhat unusual theme. Makes me wonder if these will appear in National Geographic catalogs and stores that sell WWF merchandise.

I'm behind that tought too. It would be good to serve a good cause.
Btw, every time I see that gorilla I must laugh! I just see klickklong feeding his okapi friends.
-
That sounds cool to me! :)

   Yes, I know! I'll never look at gorillas the same again.

YES! FINALLY.
Now I may have to get that set...
-
The Okapis are new right? I have never seen them before.
-
Right, they're new. My favorite animal! My initial reaction can be seen here: http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=11512.0 ;)

Sorry to bring some kind of disappointment perhaps, but the WWF-thing is for the German sets only! :-\
The "Wild Life" Theme for the Benelux-market (and thus probably the other international markets) has different schemes on the vehicles, and the sets have different numbers...
Pandas:
5272 Germany / 5414 international
Gorillas & Okapi:
5273 Germany / 5415 international
Car with tigers:
5274 Germany / 5416 international
Elephant & Rhino:
5275 Germany / 5417 international
The car has a WWF-print or sticker in the German set, but a zebra-print or sticker in the international sets:

I did notice this discrepancy between the catalog pics and the online pics. I wonder if it is because of the difference in countries, or has more to do with an agreed-upon date to release the news?

It is not really a discrepancy between catalog-images & online webshop, Bonnie, but an intentional difference between German & international sets.
-
Yes, perhaps.
-
Ah, explained that I didn't see the wwf symbol on the car the first time (well... that and my old age)..
But what's the difference in the okapi set?

The setnumber ;D

Well, supporting the WWF in the German market is a start. :) Maybe people should press them to support it in other markets too.
-
if they did do a full partnership you can bet we would get several new animals every year
-
They may be testing the waters on it, perhaps. Or I wonder if the difference has to do with the fact that WWF doesn't seem to be in Luxemberg? http://www.wwf.org/
I do think that even in the okapi set, the klicky has a WWF insignia on her vest.
-
Well, if the profit from those sets will in part support the WWF.. I MIGHT get them all... instead of just the okapis... Now that's my kind of "cause".

Will your avatar be changing then?
-
Where is the insignia? I was looking for it, since it's about the only place, but couldn't find it...
-
I think it's on the side of her vest that we can't see. You can vaguely see a patch of white.

Thnaks - I think you're right, now that I knew where to look :-[, it does seem that way, yes...
-
Glad you see it too. :-[ I felt a little stupid saying it was there, just not where we can see it!

No, I really thing it's the WWF bear there... They should have posiotioned the klicky in a way the symbol was clear...
-
I remember my grandfather with these stickers after he would send in his donations, this was 30 years ago. I wonder why geobra would need to change them for diffrent markets, most of the world knows about WWF. I see this as a very good relationship.
-
If they have a licensing agreement it is probably just for certain countries. WWF may already be exclusive licensed to toy companies in some countries.

That stinks... Well.. I'll just have to get the german versions then...

I love the okapi  and actually, the new bamboo too. When I was younger I always wondered why the old bamboo looked like a strange tree

I think Von Iserop wants to pay a visit to this Zoo when set !!!! Can he come and visit with just two officers and not an entire army
-
i can't stop looking at these new sets, especially because of the okapi and the rock formations
this 'new theme' is called Wild Life - which means they only want to please kids with gorgeous animals regardless of what continent they're from. Bussiness-wise, I think this is an excellent strategy. I wonder if they'll expand the series in 2013?

I MUST HAVE THESE! LOL
