Title: o-wow yet another board...
Post by: socrates on November 10, 2005, 22:41:26

Hi my playmofriends...

Speaking of native germans, I am obviously the first german member
registered here... And the second male user...  8-)

But, ouw, its about me now, isn't it?

Well, I have been a big fan of playmo when I was a kind.
( :-[ okay, I have to admit, I called myself part of the "lego-generation"!)
I had a pretty long break of about 15 years with this toy stuff.
A crucial period in which playmobil-wise two things happened:
1. My brothers and sisters basically destroyed my huge playmo-collection
2. Playmobil released and disconnected all these beautiful sets
like the civil medieval ones and the park fence...
 :'(
Playmobil got back to my mind after long times spend at TRS in the context
of my son's birth (almost 4 years ago now!)...
A collegue of mine and me discussed about the look of playmospace, this
was when I started looking in the internet for playmo... Just to find pics.

So, this was the beginning of what I am now!  ::)  8}

Yeah, well, what else to say? I live in the home-town of marzipan and enjoy
myself working on my phd-thesis - likely to be side-tracked by playmo of any
kind...  ;)

SO, looking forward to what this might become...
best regards,
socrates

P.S.: The soccer player it is, not the philosopher...  :yup:

Welcome! and good to 'see' you!

Our little ones are about the same age, it seems (he likes legos too, but he only gets the building blocks, not the sets ... well, oooo-kay, he gets the Star Wars sets ;) )

It is nice to have little ones to explain away the masses of Playmobil that we tend to collect.

I am sorry to hear that your younger siblings destroyed your beautiful collection.  But that is what happenes when you dont take your prized possessions with you.  (I was a younger sister  >:D )

Welcome, and enjoy yourself.

Now there are three men, and Guarrenzino should be happy with the comraderie.

Welcome!

It's wonderful to read you here! :D

I live in the home-town of marzipan...

You lucky man! I wish I did. ;D

Do you mean Lübeck?
Niederegger marzipan is one of the best ones I've tried... and, believe me, I've tried a lot!

I have relatives in Lüneburg which isn't very far from there. ;)

Hi and thank you for the warm welcome...
I already feel like home. :)

@serenity: That's true, our little ones are almost at the same age. I thought the same,
when reading your introduction. He is completely into the CityLife, with prison and fire
everywhere... Hmm, no, mostly the firemen are rescuing a little hamster who climped
up a shelf.. .eh a huge tree. The funny thing is, the firemen mostly don't have the guts
to climb up the ladder, so the hamster-owner is in charge...  :P

@meg: Maybe I dramatized a little. My collection wasn't "beautiful" (the pink boxes have
not been on the market!) and they did not  actually destroyed it... Only from a a collectors
perspective... Others would call it maybe "playing"?!?  ::)

But nevertheless, I will try not to disappoint you...  ;)

@sylvia: Thank you very much. And it is nice to read you again, after all!
You are right, I live in Lübeck! Home of Niederegger marzipan... :)
Lüneburg is really close by. RyanAir is serving Lübeck as well, so let me
know, whenever you are somewhere around the corner...  8-)

drizzling greetings from the baltic sea!

Thanks, Socrates ...

I guess that I shouldn't tell you how warm it is here in Fort Lauderdale, Florida ... ;)

In what area (or discipline) is your PhD ?

All the best,
Richard

Welcome Socrates!  :)

I seemed to have missed this welcoming (I'm getting behind on these :-[), but I already know that you are a very generous person with offering to gather up exclusives for people in other countries.  ;)

Heyyo! I just spontanously decided to re-awake my membership here!  :P
As several people are new on the board, I searched for my original welcome-thread and will just push it up.

Hey! I have been the first german member in this board!  :yippee:
(at least this is what I said!)

I have been pretty quite due to getting into a new level of working (well yes, getting out of grad school is changing your daily shedule forever... ;) ), even though I am still working in academia.  ::)
Due to this permanent lack of time, I spent my playmobil-time mainly with the selling of big chunks of my collection.
After some years of harvesting the klickys, I now concentrate on quality and these parts I really enjoy.

I felt a long time like I could not effort the time in actively contributing at playmofriends, but the last days I tried to catch up a little bit and enjoyed all your great customs and storys.
...and found it all very reaxing and still like home.
So, here I am back again.

Maybe I will manage the next days to set up some reviews, as I realized not all the new sets are disaasembled from customizer already. ;)

best and hello again,
socrates

Welcome back Socrates!

We really appreciate your and Andi's reviews as they are usually the first good close up views and detailed descriptions we have of sets we've been speculationg about for months. I've done "first" reviews of sets which you or Andi had done than 12 months earlier.

Glad the job is going well, and that you're finding a little more free time to spend with us!

cheers,  Martin
