Title: Figures Series 3 Co-Op USA
Post by: Tiermann on July 31, 2012, 18:35:02
Hi, I've had a confirmation from the shop that they have put 2 cases of each on order for me. It's uncertain if they will end up as 8 complete sets, but last time it did work out that way.
Prices may differ if the amount charged to the shop is more this time, but assuming they stay the same then it would be $2.55 each, so for the full 24 it will be $61.20.

If a full set of 24 is available, I'd like one.

Thanks!

OK
We're pretty close here. If there is enough demand for 4 more then I could try ordering an additional case.

nice price on the set, around here they are $2.99 and at TRU $3.99. I would get 2 complete sets but I will ask my local store for a good deal on a whole box. If they are unwilling I could use 2 sets of each. Will know by the weekend.

So updated:

The shop gives a discount when people order full cases of items, so we get a percentage off their regular retail. That's why the price is less than even in their shop

The Co-Op was so nice for series 2, I'd really like to join in again.
Is there room for Peefferr?  :)
I'd love a single full set!

Was that the price  for series 1 and 2 as well? The first came (in Belgium at least) for  about 2 euros, so I thought price in the US would be around 2 dollars? ??
4 Dollars at TRU for 1 Surprise figure seems rather high to me, that is as expensive as the Special Plus sets in Europe (about 3 euro in Germany, 3.5 euro in Belgium)...

That's how I feel. I'm really not interested in a good portion of them. As it is........I really think they are poorly done. I don't know how many times I have had to rebuild some of the ones for my granddaughter.  And one of them which I didn't give to her, but would have, was missing half the parts.  I'll think it over, but may just let it go.

They were always $2.99. When they first hit the TRU shelf they had them at $2.99 but soon after raised the price. TRU has always been a few dollars more so when they origonaly had them at SRP I was pleasantly SURPRISED (unlike these packages) but again corporate American never lets you enjoy these feelings for long. At least they make up for it with their industry waste we call clearance

There's a couple in there I really want, but I'm not sure how to get without buying the whole set. I haven't seen them locally yet.

Tim
If you need another full set to be ordered, I can get one.  If they are already reserved, that is ok.

Is there a set left? If so, please put me down for one. If not, no worries. A not too far away shop says that they have them on order, but my hope is fading. How long does a Playmobil order usually take?

I've had a call from the shop and our figures are here. I will hopefully pick them up this morning. I will need to sort through them all. It will be interesting to see if there are many extra pieces this time around. Cost is the same this time $2.55 per figure, so $61.20 for the set of 24. You should probably all PM me your shipping addresses again and I will get you final totals after I have the shipping weight figured out. Martin did confirm on a set, so the list through Peeffer are who I will have sets for (assuming they come out even again like last time)

At this point I've opened a full case of each, and it's worked out even complete sets. I have come across one problem. The hair on the pink dressed girl figure with the parasol is molded incorrectly inside on 3 of the 4 of them I've opened so far. Where the tab is that fits into the slot in the back of the head there is just a smooth bump of plastic. The hair fits on but doesn't snap in. I am going to play with mine and a dremel tool later today and see if I can fix it better. If so I my do the others too before sending them on.

Far fewer extra pieces this time, just a few cuffs and a couple of small things.

I've finished sorting through the figures. Boys were even and not missing any parts or with mismolding that I noticed.
Girls were not even. There is one extra Ga Ga figure, and we're short a surfer. One of the horsewoman figures has a mismolded hand, where the hand part isn't there and it's replaced with solid arm plastic. One of the brides has a badly molded hair. If anyone has an extra hair of the type with the three holes in the back I could use one for her. All but one of the hair pieces for the parasol lady have that molding problem. I've found that I can grind the bump away so the hair at least can sit properly on the head, it doesn't snap tight though. Unless someone wants one with the bad molding I will go ahead and grind them all so at least you can put the hair on for display.
Is anyone desperate for the extra GaGa?  Willing to take her in place of a surfer?

I can take the horsewoman with the mismolded hand, I don't mind it. Maybe we can spread around the mistakes a bit. As for the hair on the parasol lady, yeah you can go ahead and grind it down.

I can't believe the number of mistakes in the figures. :(

I can take the extra GaGa in place of a surfer (she would become poison ivy for my batman customs), and if the hair grinding has not been done you can just leave it as is too.  ;)

ALSO I can take the badly molded bride hair as I have a hairpiece I can use on her

Figures are produced in Malta.
The quality there is very often lower than in other factories.....
This is a well known and often discussed problem.

Maybe it would be a good idea to take pictures from all faults and send them to Anna....

If Tim doesn't do it before he sends it, I'll take a pic for the museum. Btw, I did send you a pic of the albino klicky, didn't I?

Yes, I think that's a good idea. They need to know how many mistakes are coming out of just two boxes.

Yes you did - will be added when the new site is ready... sigh.

I think it's WAY over any acceptable ratio, the number of errors. I mean, considering the price, it could ba a Figure is the first contact someone actually has with playmobil.. What will they think? :(

Thanks so much, Tim. :) And I hope you don't get left with too many errors, after being the one to do all the work! Which errors are left?

You guys took the worst, just the bad hair on the Parasol lady. 7 out of the 8 of those were the bad molding. Fortunately it was reasonably fixable. I could see it being a bit frustrating for a kid who didn't know it was molded wrong though. It looks ok from outside just doesn't fit on the head correctly.

Didn't it show in one of the production videos that each part is supposed to be inspected by hand? Mistakes are fine, but it's strange that these actually make it past the visual inspection. Maybe they are no long doing this... That and the new plastic aren't very good signs. :-\
