I am planning on doing an arctic display but didn't have anywhere for the arctic explorers to use as a base so decided to build them one.
I looked on the internet for ideas and found this one ...

So decided to build something similar...

I was really pleased with the result, especially the frost on the wires...

I'll add more snow when it goes on display.
I still need to add steps to the back (I haven't got to the box with those in yet )
I plan to put a weather station on the roof as I have a spare one.
Sandy suggested I needed a storage facility so I thought I would use the container from my Playmobil container truck (without the stickers) do you think that will work?

Yes, I think that might just work, me being the way I am I could possibly foresee problems with the container doors freezing shut but I'd go with it if I were you, great idea ! As for the building, well I'm just going to go away and whimper even more, fantastic job ! well done ! :)

Great work, Elaine, looks just the job. I think your container idea is good, too.

Yes, that container will work great! And the building is fantastic, especially the frost effect. Can't wait to see it in the display!

Cool!

I love it so much, and the frost on the wires is superb!

Oooops! I forgot to say how effective the frost effect is. :-[ :-[ :-[ It really is good.
How did you do it, please?
-
Cool idea, Elaine!!!

Thank you everyone - I can't wait to see it in the display too

It was really simple - I used some old cord from my pirate ship spares box, fastened it in place so it was the correct size to save mess later on, then removed it, clips and all, dipped all in pva glue then dropped it in a bag of imitation snow powder.
I must admit I didn't know if it would work so I was thrilled with the result.

That's REALLY brilliant. And something to do with system X (that could be a problem, I'm not handy with it at all :-[ )
