picked it up today from a craigslist seller. I'll take pics later. I spent the past hour wiping it down. :D

ooops typo. I know it's the 5301, cuz I also already have the 5300. Now, I'm looking at them and thinking about a way to combine them together to make a truly grand mansion. But how? They are different colours, but I'm planning to repaint it all anyway.

Yeah, the top floor furniture is not PM, but at least I got a kitchen, bathroom, and living room set.

An awesome buy at that price! Congrats, Atto!

Nice buy. :)

That was a great deal Atto! :)9 You will have a lot of fun combining them to create a larger mansion. :yup:

Tried combining my 5301 with my 5300 with no additional parts. Seems other than stack it into a quintiple-story building (including the attic), there's not too much else I can do without at least one more mansion to cannibalize for remaining missing walls. My biggest challenge is the 5300 sections are only 5 windows wide, so when stacked atop the 5301 base which is 6 windows wide there's an extra window's width left over. Tried adding roof pieces to take up this space, but it seems some cutting and hacking is in order to get it to fit up just right. And even with the additional floors, I have the challenge of what to do with the creepy outside doors that lead to NOWHERE (if you stepped out through them you'd fall 5 stories down!). I need some 5301 3-window-wide walls that don't have any doors on them, as well as some more 5300 2-window wide walls. And some wall corners and such. Not an easy task to try to build a PM mansion differently than their original design!
Also not liking the 5301's one-piece floor (which is not modular and is permanently 6 window lengths long unless you cut it. Not to mention the 5301 floors have about 3 inches of depth cut out (so you can see into the house a little better without the obstruction of the floor above it). I don't like it!
I added the 5300's sunroom to the 5301, making it now 8 windows wide on the first floor. But I had to make notches in part of the 5300's sunroom frame to get it to accommodate the 5301's second floor flooring. After all was said and done the house looks "lopp-sided" with everything piled up high on the right side, and not enough on the left side to balance it out. So short of buying one more mansion to use for parts, I think I'll be restoring the buildings back to their seperate and individual forms.
The hardest part was discovering that both houses I purchased were GLUED TOGETHER. I had a hard enough time prying them apart, but now because of the residual hardened glue I cannot put it back together without first removing every trace of left over glue. But I see why they glued them together: if you try to move the house in one piece, it can fall apart easily.
My living room is a horrid mess now. Hopefully I get all the bits and bobs back into place on each set.

I feel your pain, Atto. I have been trying to expand a 5301 for a while now and I understand what you mean about it turning out looking lopsided. Unfortunately you do have to do a lot of trimming of extra parts. This kills me. I used floor pieces from the 5300 and open frames (30 26 2410) from the 7782 pavillion to expand the base and second floor. I think you could probably do the same with the triple open frame (30 05 7200) of the 5300. It would help solve your problem of supporting the one piece second floor of the 5301 when connecting sections of the 5300.
Here is where I stand on my own expansion.

I hope this is not taking us off your origingal topic, it was not my intention.

Atto, checked my stash ;) and found that I have these spare parts I can give you if you would like them. You will have to add your own wallpaper to the two double window walls.

wow, cool, thanks Joe! I'll not turn that offer down!
Thanks for the expansion tips too. I'll have to track down some of those other pieces. Ebay does seem a bit sparse lately on mansion parts. I may have to save up and buy another piece. I did also think about getting the wedding pavillion as well for more pieces.
yeah, it's a bit of a challenge, even just to add floors of different widths between the two sets. I did try and create a front tower to change the floor plan as well, but I can tell a lot of cutting and sawing is in order. But then the question for me is where to put it all lol. One thing that's bugging me now is that the mansion is actually bigger than my expanded castle! So out of scale! I think my wife is not going to be happy about all the PM all over the house now (she's been out of town). I can't even hide this monstrosity of a mansion. She usually isn't that observant about my toys, but I think she'll notice the mansion has 2 extra stories in it, lol.
I'm trying also to remedy the 5301's floors... I still don't like the missing part that they moulded in on purpose so kids could have easier access to the rooms. Maybe I'll cover it with styrene or something.

Glad to help out.
