Title: Jack Crusoe & the island
Post by: Hadoque on June 11, 2012, 15:22:26
A pirates' ship ran on cliffs during a storm and went down with all hands, except for captain Jack Crusoe, who managed to reach a nearbey small island.
He has been living there as a cast-away since many years now...

Great set up, looks like he has a skull as a friend instead of a volleyball. Did he name it too?  ;)

Hopefully the poor fellow will be picked up sometimes soon.

Great! The island seems tiny. How does he find food? Is he going to send that "Message in a bootle"?  :)

Thanks  :)

I got the idea when I saw the first detailed images of the darkskinned stone-age figures. There are a few with a chestprint of teeth (supposed to be from a sabretiger I guess), so I thought such one would do fine for a suntanned castaway with torn clothes and shark-teeth around his neck.
I pulled the boots from this klicky's skirt and exchanged them with "cloth/plant-made-shoe-looking feet" from another stoneage figure.

The island seems tiny.

Indeed, it is for practical reasons as it is just a temporary quick set-up, so I just put some smaller baseplates together which I had immediately at hand nearby.

Plan is to make a bigger tropical looking island, based on a combination of the 5134 Pirates Adventure Island with the Dino Theme's 5230 Volcano (without T-rex though  ;) ). Then I'll also add the smaller baseplates from the pic above, some more palmtrees and the big tree from 5231 Brachiosaurus to finish the whole thing.
I might also add the 3799 Pirates Island, though not the 3938 Lagoon as the island should look uninhabited.
But all those bigger sets/parts are boxed away and I have to wait till my rib hurts less to be able to reach up and down again to unpack those and crawl over the floor to set everything up...

How does he find food?

The daily menu is fish, fish again and then more fish...

I love that song!  ;)

Fantastic diorama! I love how you incorporated the Stone Age theme with the Pirates theme, as  Panos said.
Great job!

That is a wonderful setup, Erwin, and a very original combination of the pirate and stone age theme.  Jack Crusoe looks just like the pictures I remember from Robinson Crusoe except for a difference in the hat.
