I start a new topic in which,we will say what kind of new sets we want,or what we think that it will be release.First of all,in 2010 many rumors were existed about upcoming sets, that they were confirmed at the most part (eg : future planet, hotel, western etc). But it was also rumored that a new victorian theme would be released (or a reissue of the old one).
So,for the upcoming sets,I want only few and good sets!A new victorian house in System X,with 6-7 rooms,at the same type of furniture with the old ones (but different colors).I want also many victorian small sets/figures,such as men/women/children but with collars and necklaces able to be removed, and with the old type of hair/hats!In addition I want victorian shops, like candy shop, women boutique, restaurant, and the re-release of the royal pavillion. It would be great also if some victorian jobs would be reissued such as painter, photographer, florist, with different colors.
For the other sets,I think that they don't need to be reissued the sets (while I've heard that a new hospital and a new modern house will be released,).I would like a royal kitchen and a royal living room (including the sofa, that is included only in 5142, especially for someone who like the sofa but they can't afford to buy the whole magic castle).
I would prefer more, small sets, with 2-4 figures such as families (family with swimming clothes, other family with pyjamas)figures from jobs etc, with the ability to be dissassembled!Double faced figures with one side normal faces, and the other side closing eyes, would be a great idea! That's all for me!!!!!!
-
Nice topic.
I would like to see a second wave of Future Planet, just like they did a second wave for Agents.
-
I'm hoping to see an Australian outback theme, with some new australian animals, like a cassowary, emu, platypus, dingo, and wombat. They've done african safari, and european forest themes, now let's see another continent!
Also would still loooove to see a state fair theme with a ferris wheel, carousel, small roller coaster, dunking booth, and cotton candy vendors.
Another prediction I've heard a few times is a subway train, which would be cool to finally get, as well as an ancient greek theme, and an oriental theme. An Indian theme might be great too, complete with klickys in traditional Indian garb. From India, I mean, not native american.
-
Nice topic indeed. :)9 :)9
The last years we have seen a lot of Chinese figures from playmobil and i think that it's time for a theme from China, it would be perfect for me.
I would like also, a theme from Ancient Greece and why not something with Troy and Trojan horse, or with Acropolis. ;)
George. :)

I am predicting an updated (RC on plastic track style) Western Train and a DS release of the Colorado Springs station... Western Theme is going to sell like hot-cakes and will be expanded accordingly.
We should also be seeing some Middle Ages peasant-type sets... Look for a mill (whether it is a windmill or watermill I don't know), a generic house, a plow with a yoke of oxen, and a blacksmith. All buildings will be thatched roofs...
There will absolutely be an expansion of Future Planet. Space laboratory/telescope with ceiling hook (yeah it will be cool) and a barracks type building that most of us will use as a house in our space colonies.
The "History" Theme will see a new set of characters from Asia, we will get Chinese and Japanese sets in the same Theme much like we got 2 kinds of cavemen in the Stone-age line. There will be a Chinese palace and Japanese Castle. A fishing ship based on the Egyptian barge but with oriental sails and a cabin. A jade dragon "garden" will also be featured with the Chinese Empress and attendants (like the Sphinx set but with a Jade dragon on a Green base-plate)
City Life will see a reintroduction of some playground equipment but not much beyond that this year, perhaps a Full eat in restaurant to go with the Hotel theme though.
Production issues may delay at least for another year the characters from Greek mythology like the Minotaur and Medusa, but they will be along for 2014 as the History Theme expands to History and Myth to make it more exciting for the children (this line will also have Dwarfs and a Giant... though only 2-3 times normal klicky size)
Finally the princess castle line will expand slightly with a freestanding Rapunzel tower that can be attached to the Castle or stand alone.
If I am right I am going to be poor indeed ;D but OH SO HAPPY ;)

Baron Marshall, those predictions sound great, but how are you so certain?

You have to say it authoritatively for it to happen... that and follow trends in movies, tv, toys, and business. Kids are the market and TV and Movies are what get them excited to get toys. Discerning parents will choose Playmobil alternatives to the low quality official merchandise and that is where the money is made. BTW ceiling space station will also glow in the dark...it, or another set, could also project a star pattern. Parents buy these all the time for their kids, might as well be something they can play with too.
If Playmobil HR people are monitoring I am available to head up R&D or Marketing (both preferred)
-
Kind of hoping for a new batch of medieval myself..
Hopefully with a few more civilians and a different focus than just having the big castle for the good guys and the smaller castle for the bad guys, some soldier sets and nothing else.
Maybe some new forestmen might be nice.
-
A new addition to the western theme would be nice too...focusing more on daily life (farm house, general store, etc) rather than cowboys versus indians. And of course, lots of women and children both for the townsfolk and the indians.
-
If you read on Wikipidea the Playmobil page , it says that tv is coming back & some more :D
-

Indeed. I can easily see an Asian Theme coming soon, but I'm not that certain about anything else.
-
I predict in the near future a large recreational vehicle. RVs in US are the size of buses and some are buses. I think one that is large and has slide outs. If you do not know what" pop outs" are they are sections of the wall that push out to make the room much wider. If Geobra incorporated this modern design into a RV it would add lots of room. It could be built on the bus chasis
-
I say there will be an Asian theme. There has been a few asian surprise figs out and the samurai special. Also its about time for a revamped suburban house.
-
I also predict an updated hospital theme.
-
we need a computer hacker to check the files of Geobra employees, it seems to be the way of the future when information is sought.
-
We need someone to get hired by Geobra to have inside knowledge. ;)
-
Playmobil is bringing back these sets ;
Racing ( Contineu of the 2011 line )
Space
Television
Train ( end 2012 )
Waterworld ( 2013 )
Winter Sports
This theme's are coming back if i can belive Wikipedia , here's the link : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Playmobil
-
Yeah, I noticed that on wikipedia too, but I wonder where they are getting that information? :hmm:
-
Wondering the same  , i gues insider news or maybe a press release we didnt see ?
-
Is this the line you are talking about?
"an asian theme,new fi?ures,going to cinema,winter fun [new],hotel,modern house [new],earthsquake,forest wrestlers,kindergarten,top agents [new],vets [may be],school [may be],musketters,1900's [new],future city,hollywood"
what is "earthsquake" & "forest wrestlers" ? maybe they forgot a ,
-
It sounds to me like someone just threw that into the article. It almost looks as if it were translated from another language or written by someone who doesn't normally write English. I wouldn't trust it any more than our predictions.
-
Well the hotel has been done, I guess time will tell ;)
If geobra does do a revamp of the 1900's Victorian theme I sure hope it is in stecks and not System X
Stecks Stecks Stecks
-
Yeah, I thought "earthquake" was incredibly strange! ??? What kind of a theme is that? :hmm: Just knock down any building and voila: earthquake theme! ;)
-

maybe it is a system x with out the red and yellow tabs, all the furniture would easily fall down as well. Or maybe a brick system that is all loose and tipsy. Then there would have to be rescue workers to dig out all the klickies. One could add an element of science and engineering to the theme by allowing the buildings to be constructed differently so a kid would learn what works and what does not. Having the buildings foundation on springs would simulate an earthquake. There have been a lot of high profile earth quakes lately. Geobra could have a tsunami element to it and market it to the west coast this winter when Japans debris washes ashore :P
-

-
it would be great to have a highland figure in kilt wearing a palace guard busby.
-
Great predictions Baron Marshall - it would be great if they came true!
-
The medieval wind-or watermill the Baron predicted would come in handy!!!
-
Maybe by "earthquake" they really mean a set with a volcano in.
-

How about a mountain lodge that gets wiped out in an earthquake triggered snow avalanche :P
-
Or maybe they are going to release a giant clicky that causes the ground to tremble when he walks.
-
Or maybe they are going to release a giant clicky that causes the ground to tremble when he walks.
That reminds me of the frost giant seen in the Playmobil World trailer. Maybe it will be a theme of earth-shattering giants to go along with the dwarves!
-
my pediction is hehehehe
-PCC :P
hahahaha
-asian theme
-new hospital theme
and i wish and hope
-new fire theme or atleat an update
-

Earthquake...what an odd idea!
-
there are already the city house, the school, the hospital, the fire fighter, the police, etc....so to complete these sets the roller coaster theme will be great....
A new city theme with a restaurant building (not a fast-food), movie theater with a film projector, swimming pool...
A sport theme with an athletics field and track and bleachers ....For the race, the track could be sets in several boxes and to advance the character should roll a die....The field could be used for olympic sports, rugby, american football etc...
the gauls and the roman city building...
-
I am betting that the Romans will make a return sometimes, it was a very succesfull series I think.
-
With the Winter Olympics starting in February 2014, I would not be surprised to see another winter sports theme released in 2013. :)

All very interesting watever they do I'll be happy to look throug the catalogues and think I wish I had that ;D ;) as far as earthquake theme goes then perhaps an Earthquake Rescue team with victims?
-
an asian theme,new fi?ures,going to cinema,winter fun [new],hotel,modern house [new],earthsquake,forest wrestlers,kindergarten,top agents [new],vets [may be],school [may be],musketters,1900's [new],future city,hollywood
I predict wikipedia will be right ;) ;) ;) ;)
Earthquake in fact is a very good idea. I picture a sets with building in ruins, fires, rescue teams etc. It would be fun!
Hollywood could bring the SO-MUCH-WANTED-LIMO!!!!! and some glittering dresses and new tuxedos.
Future city would be AWESOME!!!
a new 1900 too.
We have heard and talked about the "forest wrestlers".... there were clickies... "disguised" as animals... Where was that????
-
The Earthquake Theme was probably a translation error from whatever that was from, assuming it was translated from something official or not.
-
I insist.... there was a thread about this... something from KW? some sort of announcement... does anybody remember?
-
A new idea, that came through my mind is a haunted mansion!I want a Haunted Mansion with Victorian look an probably old System connection.I want this mansion to include in the same set some furniture, for example a dining table with chairs,a clock,a furniture like bookcase,a sofa,an armchair,a parent's bedroom,a small kitchen and a bathroom. The wallpapers need to be convertible, for example to include normal wallpapers, and wallpapers with dust, painted webs and spiders. And the figures to have reversible heads, with the option of normal face and vampire face. All this one,in the price o 100-120 euros, would be a very good set!!!!
-
Considering that quite a few themes are going to be discontinued including cavemen and dragon knights, I am guessing we can expect some sort of historic/fantasy theme with soldiers and such to appear in 2013-2014.
A return of Romans or the fairytale theme would be nice. In the 90's there was a wonderfull fairytale theme with wizards, gnomes, magical trees, unicorns, etc. I really liked that theme. It gave magical things, but also a good mix of knights, royalty and other "normal" clickies that would be great in either a fairytale or the medieval period.
-
If they do, could they stop printing 'tribal' designs on the klickies? They remind me of cheap tattoos and naff decals on Ford Escort windscreens.

Man, if all that comes true I'd be in Playmoheaven.
I'm (mostly) only buying new themes that interest me now, having a ton of everything in the traditional lines (knights, western, police etc), but a combined Japanese/Chinese theme I'd have to get in its entirety.
-
Finally the princess castle line will expand slightly with a freestanding Rapunzel tower that can be attached to the Castle or stand alone.
If that were to come out, I reckon it'd be one of the coolest sets yet, assuming that the tower isn't pink or purple. If it resembled the tower in the film Tangled, maybe with a bit more stone at the top - then it'd be the coolest set ever! :)
-
If it can be attached to the princess castle, there won't be much hope for the colour ;D
-
If it was steck's or even system X I could care less about the color as there is always paint to solve that problem. A harder problem to deal with is if it would be made like the lighthouse where you have to cut it all up just to customize it or adapt it to other sets
-
The saddest part about the lighthouse is that it would have been really easy for them to make the tower cylinder infinitely attachable... >:(
-

That's true, and it would have made that set really great, but the lighthouse is a bit small for a tower. When you mentioned that, I was envisioning a larger one (or at least a wider one so more than one figure can stand in it).
-
but for a toy... just having enough room for one figure and a lighthouse taller than the boat would have been nice

That's true, but the tower in the Lion Knights castle is bigger (and better) than the lighthouse in that regard already. But it isn't separable either. :(
-
i would not have cared if the light house was the same height but as long as your could take it apart to make it taller by adding two or three or 6 to make it a larger diameter with larger floor space. even better if it fit other building systems and even better if it fit both. get those engineers to work for their salaries damn it

Unfortunately, I think that with some of the newer designs the customisation potential has been severely curved by the lack of building flexibility. Like you say, there is no way to really attach anything to anything other than what it is "supposed" to be attached to. Even the new castles have angled parts and such that only really seem to work with the other parts in that specific set.
For the lighthouse in particular, it seems that the little island it is on and the extension to the side are essential to its design. I wish that I could "predict" that more flexible designs would be released in the future, but I think the trend seems to be moving away from this. The Steck system and earlier System X sets seem to have been much better in this regard. :( It's unfortunate that it seems everything must be made "simpler", "cheaper", and "more efficiently" nowadays, though when doing so a bit of the genuineness of it all is lost.
-
Aren't 3665-like cylicindrical steck structures fit for your purposes?
-
The cylinder steck would work fine for the most part... but there is a certain derth of 4-way connectors that make it hard to build a realistic lighthouse... and a lighthouse would probably need a different tower top too ;) but yeah, they could have made a steck lighthouse and we wouldn't even be having this discussion... probably just another one about how they should make steck pieces in a smooth non-stone or wood variety for modern building and/or marble... hm... you know what... they should do that

Yes we would but its all from love of the steck system, like in the old Geobra philosophy, it all fits together in one system

Those tower pieces do seem nice, but Steck is harder to get now. I'd like to have some newer and more available designs that are as good as these older ones. :) Of course, they could just re-release some of the older sets or parts too.
Go apply for a job at geobra, please
'Tis not a bad idea. Thanks.

I would love to see more Romans, especially civilians. Ancient Greeks would be brilliant too (I'm into Classical history!), especially the Trojan Horse, some Spartans, and perhaps Greek/Roman gods and goddesses and figures from myths. Phoebus Apollo in his chariot of the sun would be awesome, and Medusa with snakes for hair would be a great idea for a Fi?ure. Maybe Norse gods too - Odin and his raven, Thor and his thunderbolts.

I was wondering if any of these images are copyrighted? I know the Egyptian government was looking a few years ago to copyright all its historical images such as the pyramids, sphinx, etc....I am sure they have their hands full at the moment so it may be on the back burner for now but when the news got out their was a rush of items made to use the images before it went into effect.

You have my vote - my wallet would kill you though ::)
