Here we can discuss the many Playmobil Medieval helmets that are currently out and that may come in the future. This picture shows what I believe to be all of the styles of Medieval helmets released so far:

Typical soldier helmets such as 22 tm 25 are always very usefull. Nothing too flashy but perfect soldier helmets, the kind of helmets no medieval collector could ever have enough of probably. :)
As for knight helmets.. 6, 8, 13, 14 and 15 remain the best designs for a knight, at least in my opinion. Out of these, I gues I like 13 the most. Perhaps because I only have one of that one, and multible of the others.
I'd still like to get some more vikings sometimes though.. I really like helmet 4. Still hoping to get 23 sometimes too, does that also come with vikings?
And you forgot the classic knight helmets. ;)
-

it would be # 30 but in silver.
You meant the nurember guards right?
-

That one comes with the new Red Falcon Knights I know. It might come in some Viking sets too though.

Yes, I'm fairly certain the old shiny helmets were of style 30. :)
-
the nuremburgers had 2 different helmets, one for the captain and one for the regular soldiers, but they are similar.. there are also the old shiny conical helmets ;D
Personally I am a huge fan of #25 and I also like #2 a lot too :)
-
My favourites are 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 13, and 21. 12 looks quite good on the Dragon Knights though. 5 would be nice to have with other plume colours, and I'd like to see some black helms in the future. :)
20 is probably my least favourite of all. It's quite awkward...
-
8 is awesome.. u can do a lot with it.. when u have fantasy :P

OH yes!! a huge helmet, chromed with three feathers on top. It covers the head down to the shoulders. It's huge! I had forgotten about those.

Cool, thanks! :)

I was very happy when Geobra released number 23, it's a nice enhancement to number 24 and very useable for creating soldier, guard or crusader armies. Nice summary picture, btw Pynedor!
-
My favourite are the classics helmets 22, 24.
You can't do something with these but i like them.
Many thanks for the very interesting picture.
George.

Thanks! :) I only wish that I had all of the helmets myself. I had to add some of those images in.
Many thanks for the very interesting picture.
You're welcome. I hope it is easier to talk about the helmets when they are numbered. :)

Great reference pic, Pynedor! I love each and every one of these helmets
I do have some trouble combining each helmet with different armour and I believe I've used number 7 the least of all, but I still like it a lot!!!

7 is rather new though, so that might be the reason. I bought a few of the Templar 4670, and I really like the great helm design, but the opening for this one seems a bit strange to me. It's still a cool helm though.

I think it goes well with the typical arm greaves and that silly looking half plate chest armour. Its always good to see the split skirt legs combined with it...

oops.. the one I meant is number 21 but chromed.
rhalius did you mean another one? ???
-
I did mean that one, never had one of those but judging from pictures its still a bit different than 21?
It does seem a bit special to me either way though, considering that its the first real knight helmet made for playmobil. Earlier where only soldier helmets.

It looks fine in the 4670 set, except that the legs of the figure are gold for some reason... :-\

If you are thinking of the one I think you are, then I believe it is the same as 21, or maybe just a less detailed version of it without the rivets.
-
the old chromed helmet in the old jousting set and "shiny" suit or armour is entirely different from #21... I'll try and get a comparison shot done... but that may not happen if i cant find the camera
you can sort of see the differences here
http://www.collectobil.com/catalogue/items/3265x.htm
-
The visor looks similar in that picture, but I can see a slight difference in the sloping of the bottom edges of the helm. 8}

Well done, Pynedor!
My favourite is 1). Not because it is realistic (it's not!) but I just love the design of it with the layered plates.
Indeed, 22-25 are the most useful.. I could use dozens of them for footmen. A problem is of some knight helmets is that they are just to big. Knights look very tiny wearing them (or look like they've eaten bad oisters ).
For the fantasy world of Randolph I was excited about the new 28 wow!.. Look really mean!
Maybe some of you have advice for me, for the chinese chess set I search for the best fitted officer helmets- maybe 11 for the castle/ rook and 30 for the bishop?
-

Those would probably fit, but they don't look very Asian in design to me.
-
2, 9 and 29 might be best for a chinese army, I don't have any of those so might not be the most relyable source on this though. ;)
-
An interesting note - it appears that style 3 is now available in the "normal" silver/grey colour, which I think it great! I was hoping that it would be available in that colour soon instead of only the darker grey, and it appears that it is in the new 5979 set that we were speaking of in the other thread! :)
These are the sorts of helms that I think we need more of - great helms like these. I still think that the holes for the eyes in 3 are a bit weird, as they appear "two-leveled", but as one of only a few large helms for crusade-era knights, I am pleased that it is being used again.
-
I still think its a bit too large, makes their heads look too big.
-

It is a bit big, but then again, most of the large helms are quite large.
-
You're missing the one that takes the curved insert.
-
The back of the old chrome helmet goes directly down, while the newer version curves out. You can kind of see it on the caparison chart
(http://www.animobil.info/shields/wit-icons/caparisonchart.jpg)
Also - Pynedor once we are sure we've found all the variations you might try taking individual shots of all the helmets and they could be put together in a chart like the caparison one. I would be happy to house a page for it at http://www.animobil.info/shields/ (http://www.animobil.info/shields/)
-
Maybe a similar topic could also be made for the various shield types, chest armor and other armor?
-
Thanks for the information, Tiermann! I just lumped the curved insert helm with the other one I think. I'll have to add that one. And that would be great to create a chart like your caparison one; those look great.
Maybe a similar topic could also be made for the various shield types, chest armor and other armor?
Animobil has a great shield index with pictures, so that would probably be up to Tiermann, since I think he has every shield that's ever been released! Unfortunately, I don't have all of the armour types or even all of the helmet types (as seen in my image, haha!). I'm sure one of you must have them all. It would be fantastic to have a complete index of all armour parts in some easy-to-view charts or something though.
-
Almost every shield. I am missing 4 old ones, one current, and then the ones that are out in Europe but not here it the US yet. All of them are listed on the site though. There are 21 different shield shapes, go to http://www.animobil.info/shields/ (http://www.animobil.info/shields/) and click By Shape or Type and you will get the image list
-
It is a great database yes, I was thinking more about opening the discussion though. :)
Personly I'd like to see the simple round shields with the metal centerpiece return. Great neutral shields perfect for common soldiers and also for knights. Or maybe a new simple wooden round shield without any metal.
-
Or maybe a new simple wooden round shield without any metal.
That's a cool idea. I am surprised that there hasn't been a shield like that, really. The round viking shields are probably supposed to be made of painted wood though.
-
True, but they seem to only really go with vikings for the most part. Great shields for vikings, but their use is a bit limited. Nice neutral shields have a wide range of possibilities.
-
I really like these threats as it reminds me how grand the medieval playmobil is
The nurnberger helmet in chrome is such a superb divine helmet it deserves a place in heaven in that list

So, does anyone have a clear enough picture (or the catalogue itself) to see if the golden samurai's helmet in Fi?ures Series 5 is a new one or just a recolouring of the other samurai's? It looks to me like it is different. I wonder if he really is supposed to be a Japanese samurai or something else.
-
I'd say he's more like Chinese or Korean, but I guess Master Cheng will tell us when we have a better picture.
-
thanks for the pictures and links . It is really nice to see how the helmets compare to each other in one picture. My problem is I like them all for specific purposes 8} yes even the crazy looking red w/horns one :-[

Once I get all of the new helmets and the few that I missed, I hope to make a new picture comparison! :)
