Title: surprise bags for kid = bad surprise for my daughter ...
Post by: gaspodfreud on March 18, 2012, 00:05:31
i buy last week in germany all the dog and 49 surprises bags for my daughter , she really want the white princess and have really no interest in pom pom girls ....   it's impossible to buy 12 figure and be sure you gonna have one of each ... For me it's a shame !! playmobil say somewhere they are ready to help collector ? psfff ...  they don't want we sell our exedents ? psfff ...  let's see by yourself : it was a big deception for my daughter and me too : i wanted an elvis , and she wanted the white princess ....  more than that : the plastic they use for theses playmobils is really a bad quality comparing what they use to sell . Lots of new heads and hair , it's a good thing for custom but i had to find the rest on ebay if i don't want to sell a thousand figure like that !!!

Did you buy a whole box of boys and girls figures, and there wasn't a single white princess in it, nor an Elvis?!  :o That's really a shame then!  :hmm:
Or did you buy the 49 figures loose, randomly? Then it's just bad luck... :-\

I got the ones I want meanwhile (some I just bought from a German ebay-seller I know, to save me the trouble this time to go into the nearest town and feel-search for the right figures in the toyshops).
I bought the black knight just 1x, and his armour is pretty bad quality. It is the same as from the exclusive "Helfen Sie"-St. Christopher II" knight (German exclusive): the armour is a bit brighter then usual, but it looks like cheap-china-made plastic

Hope she likes fairies, because that's a lot of them. :o But the white princess is the easiest to feel for because you can feel the big skirt in the bag.

I like the dog park your daughter set up. I was at the dog park yesterday with my dog, thinking I should do it in playmobil!

Ah, that looks like some bad luck, but you definitely have a lot of spare parts now. I would try to feel for the bigger or more unique ones if I were you, like bonniebeth said. ;)

i buy there : they're fast and cheap  http://www.easyshoppingfun.de/  .

Yes the plastic of this knight is really bad , for me it mean playmobil stop to think quality and i will be very carrefull now ...

Thanks for my daughter ! it was made in one hour ... i think it's the only park for kid where dogs are allowed in france ...

i won't keep all theses figures , my daughter take a kew , i take all the parts i don't have in my playmo puzzle and i will put the rest on ebay or somewhere else ; unhappilly the fairy are difficult to customise ...

i think i will find idea for the rest to try to earn fews euros and pay a part of the sending from germany .. (17E ...)

generally i wait the figure are avalable in france but my daughter really want this white princess ...   jeremy

That's really unfortunate that you weren't able to get one of those. :( Good luck getting one next time!

I too find it annoying having to try and feel the bags and I am still only dealing with series one. I think I will try the scale route

I don't really like the idea of "mystery" figures much either, though it probably does allow you to get the ones you want for the effort of feeling for them. Otherwise, I'd assume all the good ones would be taken first.

Oh you mean that old law of "supply and demand"

Not everyone has the same demand and it would let geobra know what is selling to whom, where and what is not. Here they will mistakenly think they are all selling the same.

To me it was just a way to try and capitalize on the heals of Lego and that to me is the wrong aproch. Playmobil is different and they need to keep that distinction alive. If they keep doing it people might think that playmobil is just that silly company who copies Legos all the time.

I love trying to guess what they are, I think that is the fun bit

My local shop doesn't mind me spending ages feeling all the bags, it's just my husband and sons who object saying I embarrass them

Even when I get them home I still feel them all again to guess what they are before I open them; if I bought a box it would take me days to open them all

If I can't find any of the figures by feeling them, I can always buy them off ebay, but so far I've been 90% correct.

I just got confused by one that I thought was the cheerleader because I could feel more than one round object but it turned out to be an extra head!

Same here, although it could be a waste of time... the looks people give you while touching and feeling the bags could be embarrassing but its also hilarious

A shop owner told me some months ago, while searching for series 1, ''if you get all the good ones, my children clients will be dissapointed with the ones you are leaving behind'' meaning I touch and feel the good ones and I leave all the uninteresting ones  :-[

Sorry to hear you did not get what you were looking for, Jeremy, but next time, try some touching and feeling  :)
Title: Re: surprise bags for kid = bad surprise for my daughter ...
Post by: Rasputin on March 18, 2012, 16:20:04
Well my kids love it as I made a game out of it. They are always correct, too bad for my wallet.

The one thing that I wonder about is after I am trying to figure them out the foil wrapper starts looking rather krinkled. The shops must not appreciate the state of the package afterwards.

Watch geobra put in a card board sleeve which will make it that much harder to isolate a particular piece  ;)

aww i'm sorry for her, Jeremy

maybe you should try to feel for what's inside the bags by touching?

at least you have a big cheerleading crew!

With hindsight, it was obvious you were not going to get a random mix of figures when ordering them one by one unopened. Instead of buying 49 bags, you ought to have purchased the full box with 48 figures. You don't get 4 units of all 12 figures, of course, but nobody has felt the bags before you! I guess they sell the leftovers from their shop this way!
Sorry for Emmy and Fanny, though.
BTW, I could use one or two of the knights if you don't. You know, for spares…
Best,
A.

i agree with you Rasputin : not only lego ... i was the first to do a tomb raider and an elvis and the director of marketing ask me to not sell it with this name ...

Arnaud : you're probably right but difficult to be sure , i just write them to say i stop buy with them now because it miss 8 figures on 12 on the girls bags and it's a very very little probability ... the elvis and the white princess are sold the double on ebay ! playmobil will always let seller warm people with his political of marketing so stupid ... no problems if you want knights !!

Louis : my daughter are like me : she don't like pom pom girls , there're always shows as supid girl on the fims ...

Skypurr and Wolf knight : yes i will be more patient next time but i'm not the kind of man running on the supermaket to be the first touching theses bags ... I know when i will be there for the 3 serie , there won't be english anymore ...

i will try this on ebay tonight ....  claude francois is a french singer

Sorry to disagree, but that is actually wrong.  :-[
In each box of 48 figures you DO get 4 of each.
The packaging is not random.

I think there were reports of boxes not packed that way.

Mine from series 1 were 4 each. Hope the same this time.

it is supposed to be the same. might be minor errors. my girl's box had 5 Jane's and only 3 cheerleaders. but all the rest were in fours. The boy's box was all 4s too.

I only got 1 boxer in my series 1 boy box and 7 uncle sams    ... but there was still a complete set... so I would say that the "case" is the way to go if you want to make sure you get a complete set but can't feel the bags... the elvis and the white dressed lady are some of the easier ones to feel in series 2

Elvis is the only one with a "hard" plastic cape
White dressed lady is the only one with a puffy skirt this go around
Title: Re: surprise bags for kid = bad surprise for my daughter ...
Post by: bonniebeth on March 19, 2012, 13:47:30
Yeah, I believe it claims to be "about" four of each. So it sometimes varies a bit, but usually there will be four of each. You certainly aren't going to get 9 fairies and 8 cheerleaders and no princess that way.

ok, here's my thoughts:

i like the mystery and the hunt feeling the bags for what i want.
I have been 100% successful in knowing what was in the bag.

I think they 'try' to put 4 of each in a case box, but being almost the first person to touch the new cases at two local learning express stores, i can say that there were NONE of the prisioners :( which my daughter wanted, so i will have to wait for more to come in at another store! :o

hi everybody !!

theses set are in france now !! for a fews days  :-[  ...

i find an elvis touching the cape but i touch all the bags and no white princess ...  last time i will ask my daughter to wait a bit !!  i also think they are easy to recognise , that's why i will stop to buy with this seller !!! they're other in germany with the same price , unhappilly still 17E for the sending and i had to buy for 200E each time if i want the same price than in france to get what is in germany and not in france ... I really think playmobil do nothing to stop people who're lucky to live in germany or near germany to make bizzness with playmobils ... sometime i wonder if it's better to sell my exedents in customs trying to offer beautifull item as i can do than selling parts like legs ...

i have also ideas with the fairy and geisha : they would make beautifull ladys 1900 with this dress and a bit painting !!! for me the basketball player is just ok for the hair , the punk , guitar , coat and hair , the skatter : just hair for a justin feber in ebay ... (j fieber psfff ... )

What a great thread!!!!
Yep i was lucky enough to be taken to the toy shop on Saturday to choose a couple of mothers day gifts;)))))
Bless my tribe-they really do come up trumps sometimes (or daddy does lol)
Anyway I saw a few boxes of these surprise figures about and ended up buying three.
I got to white ladys and a cave womon.
They are really really lovely but what I wanted was a geisha and a cheerleader.
Any ideas folks of what to 'feel' for in the packets????
I must say I was so excited to buy some of these. It was like Christmas all over again but at only £1.99 a piece lol 8}
I do like the suspense of not knowing but I would like to know roughly what I was buying.
I love my two white ladys but twins is enough ;)
Best wishes to all
Issyx

Hi everyone. Haven't been posting lately but I had one thing to add about these surprise bags. The boy and I have recently gone over to the Dark Side (Star Wars Lego) and I have seen discussions on some of those boards about bump codes on the surprise bags (decoders available online). I have noticed bumps on my PM surprise bags but haven't purchased enough to know if they are consistent. As a community it is definetly something to look at as Series 3 starts to hit shelves.

This part is really disappointing to me. I am not buying the mystery figures (no need for cheerleaders, lol) but now I have a huge reason not to.

Another time !!! i just buy 5 bags (for girls) in another shop in germany and i get 5 tomb raider !!!!  when i think i was the first to do a custom of lara croft and playmobil ask me to change the title to not be associated with label (marque in french) ...

plastic for toys is under great scrutiny by parent groups who are wanting to rubber coat the world for that one child who got hurt.  ::) Yes the modern plastic is diffrent but sometimes it actually improves the results. Plastic used to deteriorate quite fast in sunlight but now they can add UV resistant ingredients.

As far as taking ideas or customs, what came first the chicken or the egg, good luck figuring it out as everything on this planet was copied from somewhere or something

Two questions: Has any one had problems with missing parts? I had a problem earlier with a deformed piece, now I opened a set for my grand-daughter and it is missing half a dress, and the upper body part.
Also, is the 'convict/prisoner/chain gang guy supposed to have stripes on both sides of his body or just the front? One side seems lame, but that's what we got. I just wondered if he should have had them on both sides of his torso.

Nope, no missing parts here-just a few extra ones. The prisoner only has stripes in the front, what's indeed a bit weird.
