:hmm: Hmmm ... ^-^
-
...The experienced German counsellor Sieglinde Schneider worked together with the manufacturer to especially design and develop this well-tested figure set...
Eh? ???
... not wishing to court controversy here, but I don't think it would take a PhD in psychology to 'design' this particular set of klickies. :hmm:
Sounds pretty much like common sense to use different coloured bodies and varied hairpieces to represent different families and the people within them. :P
Interesting news item, Andi! Thanks for sharing it with us. :)

Thanks for this andi. Interestingly, moomic on this board has been following up a similar idea on behalf of a nun working with traumatised children and is seeking modern figures to make up into family sets.

Hello, Gordon ...
I had some serious doubts about the validity of this, but I understand that you checked up on this "moomic" person ... ???
What did you find out? Were you able to get any specific information?
All the best,
Richard
-
Hi Richard, moomic is quite genuine and is providing finance for quite a number of the figures, e.g. by buying them in eBay lots. I'll PM you details of exactly what he's looking for if you wish.

I would really like to see the specifics that says that he's genuine, Gordon ...
Sorry. I guess that I just have a very suspicious mind about things like this ... ;)
All the best,
Richard

Sorry, I meant specifics about what sort of figures he was wanting. As regards his genuineness, I base my assessment on well over a year's correspondence with him on the net.

Hello, Gordon ...
Seems that you are much more trusting than I am.
(Perhaps I spent a few too many years as a police officer!)
I hope that your intuition is spot on and that you don't get disappointed.
All the best,
Richard

Ah, that explains several things ;D >:D :P
(Wow, now I can actually say I have a police officer in my circle of friends; couldn't say this before because I do not know even one.)

Hello, Jochen ...
Since we are already OT (and I'm the moderator), I don't think Andi will mind if I continue with my self-exposé ... ;)
To stay a little on topic ... I am a psychologist! This is why I expressed a "hmmm" about Andi's discovery ... :)
When I started college at 28 years old, I had already had 47 different paying jobs!
These jobs ranged from a newspaper delivery boy, to a postman, a police officer, a pilot for the US Coast Guard, a teacher, and many more in between ... :)
A few years after I completed graduate school, I started my own practise with my wife, who is also a psychologist. We both soon realized that there was a real need in the area of Vocational Psychology so we started Career Management International, Inc. (http://www.careermanagement.com) in 1976.
Soon after we began offering our career services (helping people to find out what they should do when they grow up), we wrote a trio of tests designed to assist people in their career decisions.
The test that became most famous is KINGDOMALITY® (http://www.kingdomality.com)!
Kingdomality became a book (http://www.kingdomality.com/book.html) last year and is published by Hyperion, which is the Disney publishing house. The Kingdomality book is now published in nine different languages and China has just purchased the right to print it in Chinese!
So, that's enough about me ...
All the best,
Richard

Thank you Richard for this self-explanatiory excursus sharing with us. :D
I can actually recognize some correlation between "having 47 different paying jobs untill age of 28" and setting up a service for "helping peopel to find out what they should do when they grow up"; seems that you know what you're talking about, and obviously you seem to have found your profession.

hello this is moomic, alias Michael Moore :)
Gordon sent me the thread so am happy to answer questions about myself and why i asked for help to get figures .I am new to this board so i dont know may of you .Yes i asked for help to collect figures for a nun who is helping set up self help clinics in rural areas in Australia which for some areas is going through a severe drought after 10 years of low rainfall .I have been trying to source new and used figures for her as here in australia there is no playmobil distributor and so getting stuff is a o/s job.She got on to me as i collect pm and sell a few items on ebay > The reason i am doing this is helping people and i have family members who have had trauma issues in their lives and understand the importance of councilling treatment .And using palymobil figures makes it easier for people to explain the situation and hence other people are using the figures like the bag the lady in germany is selling .
Most of the figures i have got for her i only charge shipping and cost values so yes i am not ripping her off .last weekend i supplied her with over 200 figures of which i have beens collecting from o/s for 3 months and about 1/3 were ones given to me as gifts to her so yes i try to look after her .
I am a 44 year old profesional fire fighter with 22 years service in my city fire service.I think i try to be honest and look after people in my job and in life .I also am married have 5 children so work another job on my days off to support my family as my wife has bettled depression on/off for 5 years due to childhood abuse and so having playmobil is my time to meet people all over the world and share life with them good and bad .Playmofire (gordon) has been a great help to me as a freind and with assistance in obtaining parts and other items i just cannot get here in australia .
So if any board member thinks i have done wrong or needs more information please email me anytime and i can send you the contact details of the catholic sister and you can verify my actions by emailing her direct .
If you wish to look me up on ebay please do my username is moomic and my ebay shop is called "playmobil Palace" and i have a perfect feedback from my customers and so its not a sales pitch but just to say give me chance to say something .
regards to all you klickys from down under

Hello, Michael ...
In the past, Playmobil has been very generous with providing their toys to needy institutions. I suggest that you contact Mr. Brandstätter directly by email:
horst_brandstaetter@playmobil.de (Horst Brandstätter)
Tell Mr. Brandstätter that you are a fireman (and where) and also tell him about the institution and the name and address of the Catholic sister and her organization. I would be very surprised if Playmobil doesn't offer their help.
All the best,
Richard
