Title: New Hotel Introduced on facebook!
Post by: playmogal on January 28, 2012, 17:28:08
Wow! Checkout the new PM Hotel on fb! It is something else! I really like the looks of this, and hope it is released soon.

The overall design and furnishings are quite attractive. So glad to see PM introduce this set! Looks like there will be a lot of interesting customs made from this set. Woooohooo!

according to the pic on the catalog, this additional floor can be attached to the top of the main hotel building:

Luis, Yup!
They look wonderful! Great accessories for a pretty cool looking building. PM has to do more for females as they age out of the "little princess" group and want more realistic looking buildings. And guys definitely will enjoy many of these parts. Wow!

I love all of those hotel sets, and think that the expansion floor as a set is a great concept! Playmobil seems to be realizing that to really market an expansion set it needs to be sold outside the DS catalog  ::). My only question about the set is, if it's supposed to be a bungalow and an expansion floor, is the roof included  :hmm:? If it is, then I'll have a lot of extra roofs with the size hotel I'm planning!

Oh, this is SO going to be my Old Florida style hotel... very Miami, very Golden Girls, all pastels and plastic flamingos! I'm drooling with anticipation!

Overall its a bit too girly, would have been better if they made the colors a bit more neutral since a hotel theme could just as well appeal to boys. Running a business and all that.

Eitherway its going to make lots of clickies happy since theres going to be lots more beds to go around, and they might all get their turn to sleep in a bed for once.  ;)

Does anyone know if some of those pink wall pieces, and the roof can be exchanged with the hosptal or school parts, and the roof with the summer house?

I like your thinking! You better stock up on the Flamingo add-on now, as it's being discontinued.  ;)

Kaethe, It looks like sys x to me, so there should be no problem switching out the pink wall pieces; not sure how the roof pieces compare. If the dimensions are the same as one of the other rooms, the roof pieces could fit. Let's hope so, Pgal

The bellboy's uniform, would that be red or rather a very dark-pinkish color?

What I like most from all these hotel-sets, is the white handbag that hangs on the bellboy's cart... ;D

I thought from the first preview shot that I was going to hate this series, but actually I like it fine. Love the gift shop!
So who is going to be the first to make a hotel more than 10 stories high? It looks like the bungalow suite comes with the necessary parts to connect to the elevator. So you should be able to stack that floor one atop the other.

I had the same thought as Ace about the extra roof pieces!

Thanks for the pics, Luis, this all looks so great! Can't wait to get it. I think I can get past the pink just fine. Except the roof, I'll need to either switch it out, or maybe paint it because I'm always short on roof pieces. My favorite thing about it is what I think are new system x walls, the double-wide ones with the big framed windows in the cafe area. Those are really nice. And I really love the luggage cart. And the gift stand. Ok, I just really like this theme!

Tim,
This set sounds wonderful! What a cool idea to make a hotel with several stories and an elevator. Do you know when it will hit stores in Germany or the US? This is the first I have seen of it. Thanks!

Yes, I love that! I have one, called a plunger btw, from this set (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4327), and I just love those kind of little details from playmobil! I mean, what other toy company has toy plungers!?

The theme will be released in September 2012 in Germany, we in the US will probably get it September 2013
It looks like the kids disco set has a couple of built in songs that it plays with the lights etc, but also you can plug an MP3 player into it.

I can see it now, a Las Vegas diorama with an Elvis impersonator on stage and the Sphinx out front with a giant fountain.  Hmmm, what to use for the casino tables and slot machines.

Not really impressed with the pink colour, but I love the bellhop and maid! I'm planning on building my own hotel and buying some of the smaller sets in this theme to go with my version.

Definitly a theme that I want. There isn't a set I don't like.
Besides - it goes very well with my swimmingpool en holidayhome.

Every time i look at the pics of the hotel-theme i like it a little more. There are so many nice little details to discover, like the hotel-tv-program, the hotel-logo on beds, carpets, etc., the new sexy mini-skirts for the girls, the boxes in the rooms where you put your keycard in to get electricity and i'm sure the rack from the hotel-shop will look fine in my zoo-shop  :D

I'll keep my plan to build my zoo-hotel with two 5301, because it'll fit optically much more than this polly-pocket-styled hotel. But i'm happy that i can use all those corporate designed furniture, staff, vehicles etc.

I think I feel almost the opposite of ZooKeeper  :-\. I love all of the neuheiten, but the hotel is slowly becoming my least favorite new theme. I really like the sets like the shop, the bus and the cleaning room, and I like the hotel's accessories. However, I don't see any way to make the hotel realistically large with it's hybrid building system. Building up and up with the extension floor can only make the hotel so much bigger. Eventully, I'll run into the problem of needing to expand to the left and right, which just can't be done with the included floors  8}. I will, however, be making this theme into a small motel  :).

Hm, I really hadn't noticed that about the floors. :-\ I see what you mean. They do seem to have eliminated the multiple holes in the floor, though. :P Each floor is in two pieces, presumably connected in the normal system x way, so you could put other floor pieces between them. But they might be a different color. :(

BTW, is that a commode cleaning brush on the toilet accessory rack along with the toilet tissue :o?

Yep! One came with the new 5302 dollhouse bathroom, too.

I think it's too soon to tell about the customization possibilities. We wont know until we see the shape of the various pieces. If the walls are the right sort there may be more expansion possibilities in the length, or by going with a right angle making a corner

Love the hotel. Pink doesn't bother me, very Miami. What bothers me is having to wait until September 2013 here in the states! Might have to pick some up when in Europe. ;D
