Title: NEW CONTAINER SHIP
Post by: BlackPearl2006 on January 27, 2012, 19:31:47
whens this coming out?  any intell?  i saw this on PM USA facebook alongside the new train:

its so awesome!

funny how you don't really notice how WAAY out of scale PM is too itself.  This ship in PM proportions is really no bigger than a personal yaught, yet in real life this thing would be epic in size!  still, i like it :)

I didn't know you were into modern vessels as well  :eh?:

I think it's smaller than the previous one, isn't it?

Imagine the size if the Colliseum if it were to scale with the klickies...
Or one of their castles... :P :P :P

This looks like a great new set.

I like the new on board crane addition on this ship opposed to the TITAN not having one at all. Great looking ship, it looks like it's based on the old ships dimensions though. Thank you for sharing this with us Atto!

If someone here knows what a "Zumwalt"-ship is, then look at the hull of the ship in the pic above and imagine it upside down...

Not something I'd add to my collection, but it certainly looks very impressive!!!

Reminds me a bit of my lego cargo ship the "Diana" which came with the harbor that had a yellow crane. That ship is also blue and has a small crane on the ship.

Looks nice though, but it could use a small room for the clickies to sleep and eat. Then again, I grew up on a cargo ship and spend many years there.  ;)

The hull in the pic appears vaccum metalicized, see how the waves reflect off the hull?....I wonder if the actual toy will be this way?

Oh, I don't really collect modern theme that much, but I do like this ship and the Titan for some reason.  The real-life Black Pearl was actually a small cargo ship upon which they built the tall ship facade.  So I guess I can make a long-stretch connection between my period-themed love and this modern one?  hehehe.

Anyone have any real pics of this toy yet from a toyfair or something?

The hull in the pic appears vaccum metalicized, see how the waves reflect off the hull?.

I noticed that in particular as well, and it reminded me of optical-stealth techniques. And that made me then think about putting this ship's hull upside down, and customizing-possiblilities for making a Zumwalt-destroyer. The bridge of such a ship could be made with a modified (perhaps also upside down) Playmobil's Top Agents/Rob Gang battle yacht 4882 ...  8-)

I regret not have bought the Titan, so this one is on my menu. Those cargo ships of plamobil are wonderfull. To bad they don't fit in with my egyptians, cavemen and romans. Nevertheless, will buy one for sure.

BP: This looks like a very cool ship that would be right at home in someone's huge harbor set up. Glad to see it come to life. Ships are so much fun to play with!

I've rationalized a way to combine period-themed PM (pirates, knights, western, egyptian, etc...) with modern theme:   you can pretend you are a present-day adventurer mounting an expedition to discover, unbury, and explore ancient or antique treasures, civilizations, and cultures!  Or you can expand it into sci-fi where a modern expedition on a ship (like the titan with a fleet of expedition boats) gets sucked into a time vortex and ends up traveling into the past.... the possibilities are endless!  A titan can even be retro-fitted to become an exploration ship command center if you really wanted.

For combining themes you can always be filming a movie/movies too... at least if they would RE-RELEASE the big movie cameras  ... rumors say yes... but I'll believe it when I see it

A photo story based on the Deadliest Catch with film crews on a crab fishing ship, excellent idea :)9! That has my vote,....better start stocking up on Playmobil crabs & crates for that project,....more money to pay USA DS now!

I've been thinking similarly; I have some modern-day divers and equipment, and the big yacht.
Of course I was inspired by Tintin's adventure where he goes seek for the sunken wreckage of The Unicorn. (this part was left out of the movie, I've been told). Tintin, Haddock, prof. Calculus and the 2 detectives hire a trawler called "Sirius" because they believe the treasure is hidden in the wreckage, as seems to be indicated by the coördianates on the papers they had found.

Makes me think of that movie (with Roy Scheider as captain I think) about the aircraft-carrier USS Nimitz, where the ship gets into a big storm in the 1970's and ends up getting out the storm in 1941!
