Hello all
I wonder, the motor in the following LGB is it possible to fit into a 4051 and/or 4052, has anyone done anything like that ?? i wonder if this motor will just clip into the western train tender ....

I know of a 4010 E-Loco custom which has one (or 2?) motor of LGB of this size you posted in the ebay pics.
This LGB motor is smaller than the Playmobil-transformer-motor. I think, it has no weights in it.
You can put it in any loco of Playmobil. But... not easy (not plug and play). You have to fix it e.g. with screws.
But..., what will you win with a LGB motor (it is ~four times as expensive as a Playmobil motor)??

24V over 14V is a lot more power isnt it ??? ;D ;D

Although the two motors do look the same from the side underneath they are very different
Western train the motor block is approx 16.5 cm
Switcher motor block is approx 13.cm
Although the plastic tabs that the screws go through to secure to the body make the switcher motor longer.

I will ask an LGB specialist if he can retrofit the LGB motor into the playmo train, will try find with one of my 4051 and if that works will expand gradually to the 4052 , other 4051 and the western train, they all share the same motor block after all . With a 24V motor these trains will go as flying pigs me reckons !!! :love: :love: :love: :love:

I think, the 24 V motors are not faster, they are slower than a playmobil motor.
But try it and test it and post the answer, if it has more power than a playmobil motor.

Thanks so much for the detailed pictures and description !!!! and the info. I wonder , really the 24V is slower than the 14V ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

The Playmobil motors in the locos will drive them so fast that they will come off the track on R1 curves at full speed. I know as we had trouble on the exhibition layout and had to fit a resistor in them so that when the children had the controller on full they were not going full speed so that they would stay on the track.
The speed of the loco depends on the gearing in the motor block.

Thats really interesting !! but thats with the original playmobil engines right ? I wonder the 24V motors from LGB wont they make the playmo trains go much faster ???? :)

Why faster?
No (not faster), perhaps (!! test it) more powerful!!!
LGB motors have at 24 V their maximum speed (and they do not run like Playmobil locos).
Playmobil motors have at ~14 V their maximum speed and at 24 V they are much too fast (they would have be like formula one racing cars)!
So LGB motors don't make Playmobil locos faster!!!

Technically, I think it's a question of torque and pulling power rather than speed.
