Chapter I.

It was market day in the late summer. Golden the trees in the early morning sun radiated. It promised to become, a beautiful day. The farmers had brought their goods to the large market place of the city Siebenbrücken, to the capital city of the Südreich. From all parts of the kingdom and from beyond that dealers had come, in order to offer to the citizens their different goods. The roads were full lives. Everywhere one heard voices, which told themselves newest stories or which prices for the goods negotiated.

The two friends TORIM and RIGAS sauntered between the stands over the market. TORIM, a strong lad with fire-red hair and innumerable summer rungs in the face, was the son of the carpenter. He had a merry nature, laughed much and talked gladly. His friend RIGAS however was always seriously and spoke only few. When he was a small boy he had lost his father by an accident. Since then his mother and he lived with his uncle, the baker. The two young men knew each other since their childhood, and although they were so different, a close friendship connected them nevertheless .

"... and then I said to him that the boards are putrid and rotten… “, in the middle of the sentence TORIM terminated his speech river, and RIGAS was pleased about the short moment of the silence. His friend pointed forward to one of the dealer. There stood SINA, the daughter of the taylor. “Lot, we welcome the attractive lady… . “ TORIM knew that his friend admired the young woman for a long time, but he had never found the courage to speak to her. Thus he pushed his buddy the elbow into the side and hurried to the woman. Rigas sent a sigh to the sky and followed his friend.

Secretly RIGAS was pleased naturally to see SINA but he knew that he would bring no word in her presence over his lips. TORIM was only a few steps distant from SINA, when they heard loud shouting and trot of horses over the market place. A horse had shuned and ran now fear-fulfilled through the small lanes of the market. It let an empty cart behind itself. The horse had lost the charge already on the road.

Post by: Vauban on January 20, 2012, 18:44:21
The horse ran exactly on to SINA. The nostrils blew themselves. Foam stood before the muzzle of the horse, and the eyes of the animal were opened wide. One saw its panic. Humans cried and tried to bring themselfs in security. Baskets and cases were pushed, and the goods fell to soil. As the first one TORIM moved again. He tossed SINA to the side. The hooves of the horse missed the young woman only around a hair width.

Only a short moment later RIGAS reacted. He jumped on the shrinking of the horse and got the bridle. With all his power, which he trained otherwise to dragging the heavy flour bags, he succeeded to stop the horse and swing then on the backs of the animal. With both hands hew drew the reins and only few centimeters in front of the conditions with the potteries he was able to stop the scared horse. Heavily breathing he calmed down the fearful animal.

Post by: Vauban on January 20, 2012, 18:45:21
The horse had hardly calmed down, a small thick man came already to him. He was completely out of breath and thanked RIGAS with many words for the fact that he had protected the horse and the cart against further harm.

Then he led horse and cart of the place, and the women and men standing around applauded RIGAS. Some of the men knocked him on the shoulders. Other congratulated him with words to his courageous act. All the attention around his person made RIGAS much embarrassed, and he dearest he would clammy-secretly have slinked himself away.

But already TORIM came there, accompanied from SINA. “I may present to you my friend, the fearless RIGAS”, he began. “A young man who doesn't have also fear before big animals.” BUt RIGAS had only eyes for the young woman, and only as TORIM knocked against him, he brought a quiet “hello” over his lips. SINA showed her most beautiful smile to the courageous man. Their dark eyes sparkled like pearls in the sun. RIGAS could not get enough at all of her sight.

“He will accompany you after this fright securely home”, TORIM continued to speak. The words of his friend tore the baker from his dreamings. “However you…”, he began , but TORIM interrupted him immediately, “you have to excuse me unfortunately, but an urgent business expects me.” Quietly he whispered then to RIGAS then, “go on, a better opportunity to you will not be offered… Use your chance! “With one exaggerated deep bow before the both he went smiling to the market place.

Thus RIGAS took the basket and accompanied his adored girl during her purchase. Because he did not know, what he should say, he was silent and listened to SINA's words. Their bell-bright voice pleased his heart. From time to time he stated his agreement with nodding. Finally SINA terminated her purchases, and RIGAS had to carry heavily at the loaded basket. But he did it gladly.

Subsequently, the baker followed the young woman to the house of her father. On the way SINA thanked RIGAS again. Because the house of the taylor was in another part of the town, they had to go still another longer way. RIGAS was pleased about the time, which he could spend thereby still in SINA's society. SINA succeeded it on the way home even to entangle the word-meager RIGAS into a conversation in wich RIGAS also in complete sentences answered.

@all: Thank you, my friends, for these nice comments. I've got many stories to tell, but my biggest struggle is the translation  8}. So please forgive me the strange sentences...

Chapter II.

But each step brought them nearer to their goal, and so they reached the house of the taylor. Irresolutely about it, what he should do now, RIGAS stopped only once before the door. SINA turned to him, smiled and requested him to accompany her into the house. “Come along! My father ate still nobody, and at the moment he is very glad, when he sees again different faces.“ “Is he ill?” “A few days ago he fell and the foot broke. Since then he cannot go before the door.“

SINA pushed RIGAS with these words into the house. Limbing, supported by a stick, the taylor came to meet them. SINA ran immediately toward him and brought him a chair. “Father, the healer said to you nevertheless not to go.” “Ah foolish words, I'm fine. My foot became much better yet.” Curiously, but not unfriendly, the taylor regarded now RIGAS.

SINA pushed her father by gentle force to a chair. The taylor sighed and sat down.  SINA presented RIGAS with few words to her father, and with many words she told of his hero act.

After she had ended, also the taylor thanked cordially the young man and invited him to the meal. RIGAS accepted this invitation gladly. So he had nevertheless the possibility to remain still longer with SINA.

RIGAS still remained until the late afternoon in the taylor's house. So he became acquainted with SINA and her father more near. He experienced that they connected both a sad community. Just like him SINA was half orphan. Their mother died only few weeks after her birth. When the young man experienced this, he felt deep sympathy for SINA and estimated themselves glad that he had nevertheless at least become acquainted with his father. But then it was time to go for RIGAS, finally he had to get up the next morning in the early hours, in order to help baking his uncle. He said good-bye to the taylor with a strong handshake, and as their father turned the back to them, SINA dismissed the young man with a fast kiss on the cheek.

“Will we see us again?” she asked RIGAS. “Of hearts gladly”, he answered. SINA twisted the face for one moment, so as if she would have to think hardly. “Oh I am stupidly, I have today nevertheless actually forgotten to buy bread.” RIGAS understood immediately. “What a luck that I deliver the baking goods for my uncle. Then I will also take a new customer tomorrow on my list. “ He smiled to the young woman and went lucky on the way back.

As it wanted the coincidence so, the shortest way back home led past RIGAS the workshop of TORIM's father. The young man thought, “I have to tell TORIM, how well it ran." With this thought RIGAS entered the yard of the carpenter. Despite the late hour there still much enterprise prevailed. The carpenters were still eager at sawing, planes and hammers. Rigas looked for his friend around, but he could not find him however.

There he saw TORIM's father, who installed the fittings of a door, and went toward him. “Hello, master BALTOR, I'm looking for TORIM. We had separated on the market, and I wanted to speak him still briefly today.“ The carpenter master stopped in his work and welcomed the friend of his son.“ It does wrong to me, but TORIM had to deliver still another table and yet he did not return. Do you want to wait here for him?“ “Thanks no. My oncle is expecting me around this hour back. I think, I will meet him then tomorrow noon. Then it has to wait so long. I wish still a beautiful evening. “RIGAS left the carpenter and went now strictly home.

Your story telling skills are wonderful, but your architectural skill is superb, each room, each view, has so many wonderful details in the architecture, as well as the furnishings and the costumes for the klickies.  I always go through the installment just to look at the photos first, then I go back to read the story.  A toast to your project!!!!

Chapter III.

How master BALTOR had said to RIGAS, TORIM was on the way with one of the guys in the early afternoon in order to deliver a new table. His companion in the bank of the cart slipped jerkily back and forth and looked around carefully again and again. “By the Indescribable One, SESIL, you drive me still crazy. Do you have bees in the back? “ TORIM asked his companion after a while.
Title: Re: The six kingdoms - Part one - Dawn
Post by: Vauban on February 18, 2012, 19:44:41
“Yes, with the Indescribable one! , TORIM, don't you know, where your father has sent us?“ “Into the oak lane. Yes, and? “ “What, >yes, and?<  Sorcerers and witches are living there. Hopefully we come home recovered and in one piece. One hears strange things about these people, which came into the oak lane….““My friend, what have we loaded?” “A table.” “And what does a sorcerer at a table?” “Working, eating… what do I know? ““You see, if they're working or eating on a table, then they don't differ nevertheless at all too much from us. Thus be unconcerned!“ He shaked his head about his companion's fear. TORIM looked forward. The oak lane was still only two roads far away.
Title: Re: The six kingdoms - Part one - Dawn
Post by: Vauban on February 18, 2012, 19:45:18
After they had arrived at their goal in the oak lane, TORIM rose out of the cart. He looked curiously over the lane. He had to agree SESIL secretly, this road was strange. The whole borough was so different as the quarter of the craftsmen, where he was at home. Never he had seen so many crows at one place in the town. The houses were multicolored, and large windows invited the pedestrians to look into the shops. Strange things, even those bleach heads of  deceased presented themselves in the displays.

But the humans, who they met, were most unusual. All seemed to be very old. The men had long beards, which often went up to the belly. They wore long, richly looking garbs. On their heads were turbans and sharpener hats, while the women carried usually felt hats and old clothes. Many of the women had an embossment or went forward bent, whereby they supported themselves by sticks or their brooms. Wolves and cats hurried around between the humans again and again.
Title: Re: The six kingdoms - Part one - Dawn
Post by: Vauban on February 18, 2012, 19:46:42
TORIM had to force himself to turn the face away from the strange happening on the road. He had to to care about his work. Just in the moment, when he wanted to knock on the door, there was a voice from the inside, “The door isn't closed, you can carry the table into the house.” He opened the door, then the mouth to an answer, in order to close it irritated then immediately again, because he did not know, what he should say. Only very few humans had ever experienced TORIM so speechless, - and most, which had this pleasure, would swear oaths on the fact that he had slept at this time with open eyes.
Title: Re: The six kingdoms - Part one - Dawn
Post by: Vauban on February 18, 2012, 19:47:15
TORIM stepped speechless into the room. He was astonished about that his eyes seeing. Because they saw nothing, in addition, nothing at all unusual. It was a room, as he knew it from at home also: there was an open fire-place for heating the area on cold days and for preparing the meals. He saw a shelf with furniture and supplies, and four chairs, which stood around an empty place in the room. A man of an inconspicuous figure and clothes welcomed the young carpenter.
Title: Re: The six kingdoms - Part one - Dawn
Post by: Vauban on February 18, 2012, 19:47:43
“As I see, master BALTOR exceeded himself: an invisible table, which is Not able to be seized still in addition. Splendid! “ Finally TORIM regained his language, “oh, no, - the table is still on the cart. We will bring it immediately. Please excuse my improper behavior.“ He ran quickly back to the cart, in order to bring together with SESIL the heavy table in the house.
Title: Re: The six kingdoms - Part one - Dawn
Post by: Vauban on February 18, 2012, 19:48:27
Heavily breathing they unloaded the solid table and carried it to its place between the chairs. Searchingly the fingers of the foreigner pulled over the edges and the plate of the table. Now TORIM had the opportunity to regard him somewhat more exactly. He might be about 30 years old, had a even-moderate all world face and short brown hair. Simply his long thin moustache has set off the man a little bit. But exactly this average feature of the man let him be noticeable in this environment like a multicolored dog.
Title: Re: The six kingdoms - Part one - Dawn
Post by: Vauban on February 18, 2012, 19:48:59
“A very beautiful table. Master BALTOR has done a really good work. “The man reached into his bag. He showed up a few coins . He counted TORIM four pieces of gold on the table, “ this here is the remaining work wage for your master.” Then he put still two pieces of silver in addition, “and this is for you and your aid.” TORIM disbelievingly regarded the money and the extremely generous tip. “No fear, take it! The coins are genuine." The foreigner laughed cordially.
Title: Re: The six kingdoms - Part one - Dawn
Post by: Vauban on February 18, 2012, 19:49:28
Nevertheless TORIM could not believe it. He put one of the gold coins between his teeth and bit on it. No doubt, the coin was genuine. “Confidence is good, control is better. Splendid, splendid, young man. Master BALTOR can be proud on you.“ The sympathetic kind of the stranger took TORIM prisoner. And so his speech returned also. “Noble gentleman, have thank you for your generosity, but permit me a question…”, he set to speak.
Title: Re: The six kingdoms - Part one - Dawn
Post by: Vauban on February 18, 2012, 19:49:56
“Whether I am a magican or a sorcerer?” Again the man laughed, when he saw TORIM's and SESIL's frightened faces. “Have no fear. I'm not. My name is KHONOR. I'm a healer and new in the town. In fact I brew some drinks from all kinds of herbs and different additions, but I don't use magic.“ “However why did you know then, what TORIM wanted to ask you? How recognized you us despite the closed door?“ Now also SESIL wanted to know. “A good knowledge of the human nature is very important for my profession. A blind one has could read the question of your friend on his forehead… and the door? Now, the door was locked, but by the window I saw you arriving. In addition I had agreed upon the delivery for this afternoon with master BALTOR. You see, there's no magic.“
Title: Re: The six kingdoms - Part one - Dawn
Post by: Vauban on February 18, 2012, 19:50:26
TORIM and SESIL were somehow relieved now. They joined in into the merry laughter KHONOR's. A last question still burned TORIM on the lips, “nevertheless, healer KHONOR, why do you live here among all the sorcerers and witches?” “You mean the charlatans, which run around there outside and which put credulous ones the money for prophecies and dear drinks from the bag? My young friend, I must unfortunately disappoint you, but all the guys there outside are neither sorcerers nor witches. The true magicans lives withdrawn in the forests and mountains, or they're serving the kings as councellors and teachers. I selected this quarter, because the rents are cheap here, and I can study these strange humans here.“
Title: Re: The six kingdoms - Part one - Dawn
Post by: Vauban on February 18, 2012, 19:51:02
“Now come on, SESIL, we have stopped the healer for a long time enough. My father is  certainly expecting us already impatiently. We wish you still a beautiful evening and much joy with the new table ", Torim said to the healer. The two carpenters leaved the house and returned immediately to their master.

Chapter IV.

By the next morning the baker recognized his nephew hardly again. Although he had never to blame RIGAS' work input, he was nevertheless very much surprised around this early hour, how quickly and in a good mood the young man turned on the hard work in the baking room on this day. They had hardly pushed the last bread into the furnace, RIGAS began to sweep and clean the baking room.
Title: Re: The six kingdoms - Part one - Dawn
Post by: Vauban on March 04, 2012, 13:55:48
“My boy, what have you done?" he wanted to know from his nephew. "There is something going around with you.“ In all the years RIGAS had grown him to the heart, and his nephew was like a son for him. RIGAS had never prepared cause for him to the concern, but now the baker found the behavior of the young man most unusual. “I did not anything, uncle. I would like to begin today only as early as possible with the distribution of bread.“ This answer shifted the uncle into a still much larger astonishment. Although there were never complaints over the distribution of bread, he knew nevertheless, how much RIGAS hated this work, and that he turned on her always as late as only possible.

Title: Re: The six kingdoms - Part one - Dawn
Post by: Vauban on March 04, 2012, 13:56:19
The baker master shaked only the head. Then he watched, how RIGAS packed the basket with bread, and leaving the house the young man was whistling. Did he have herad ever before his nephew whistling? He planned firmly to talk in a calm minute with his sister about RIGAS. Perhaps she knew more as his mother. He returned with this thought to the baking room.
Title: Re: The six kingdoms - Part one - Dawn
Post by: Vauban on March 04, 2012, 13:56:52
As fast as he only was able to, RIGAS delivered the ordered bread. He looked forward much to seeing again with SINA. Now he had to supply only the inn in the horse lane, then he could go to the taylor's house. When he knocked on the kitchen door, the landlord woman received him with the words, “good morning, RIGAS, so early I did not have expected you, but come in quickly! I have great news.”
Title: Re: The six kingdoms - Part one - Dawn
Post by: Vauban on March 04, 2012, 13:57:22
Only reluctantly the young man followed the landlord woman into the kitchen. He knew the talkative landlord woman very well. Nothing remained hidden for her curiosity. Everything that she experienced also she had widespread imediatly. But the landlord was a good customer, and so he had to add himself his fate. Arrived in the kitchen the woman pushed RIGAS to the table, she set herself to him and spoke, “great things are approaching, but you must promise me to tell it no one.”

She did not wait for the answer of the young man, but began to tell immediately. “TURFRIED of Mittland and MERHARD, king of the Seenland, want to terminate their many years old feud and close a peace treaty. In addition they are left their firstborn sons to the opponent in each case as hostages. But the best will be still… In order to sign the contract and to exchange the hostages, both kings will travel here to king LINHOLD to the Südreich.“

“What do you believe, how many visitors will this event attract? We will make the business of our life. “Full of anticipated joy over the future profit the landlord woman was beating with her fists on the table. “However now come on, don't stop me nevertheless so long. I have to make still so many preparations! Hurry you!“ Rigas was glad. Never before he was able to escape the landlord woman still so fast. He took his basket and was going to the taylor's house.

Chapter V.

Thus the days added up to weeks, and it became autumn. While TORIM had already nearly again forgotten his meeting with the new healer, RIGAS and SINA enjoyed about their blossoming love. The two were fallen in love and they thought already freshly  of an engagement.  In these days king LINHOLD let announce now  a large celebration on the occasion of the attendance of the kings TURFRIED and MERHARD.

As the landlord woman had announced it, the visitors came from far and near to this celebration. Who could take the liberty, they traveled to this event. Finally one did not see three kings with their families and knights at a place to each day. While a large festival area was developed before the gates of the town, the visitors flowed after Siebenbrücken and filled the inns.

As long as I am the father of my son, so long the peace will be to prevail between our realms. In times of the emergency I swear assistance and support. The Indescribable will bless this peace!“

Wonderful work, love the hats in the air, but most of all, your scenes are set so well, so many details, and as I mentioned before, your architecture is magnificent.

ADELAI and I want to feed this flame, to become a warming fire. For this reason I, prince JURKON of Mittland, ask to you, king MERHARD of the Seenland, about the hand of your daughter. “
