Title: Colosseum size
Post by: playmofire on January 20, 2012, 18:09:07
Can anyone provide the dimensions of part 30 26 6350, please?

Also, what is the diamater of the complete colosseum?

I'm wondering if 30 26 6350 can take a Playmobil curved train rail.

That's a really interesting question. Someone will probably answer it sooner, but if not I will dig mine out and take a look this evening.

I am not very good with measuring curved items...  :-\ Depth on the surface where you can place a track is 2.9 inches... width on its longest point, thats the upper part coming out of the piece, of the curve is 9 inches... It looks to me that, given to the nature of the piece, its not easy to place a train track on it. Perhaps the pictures attached will give you a better idea Gordon.

The inside width - i.e. where the seats are is 6.5cm. the width of the whole piece is 8.5cm (measured at the end).  The length measured around the bottom of the curve is 19cm and 22.5 measured around the top.

Does that help?

Edit - didn't see Panos' post.

no thats ok Elaine, I was not sure if I should write this in inches or meters, so your answer is more understandable for me.

Thank you, Tim, Panos and Elaine.  It looks as if the width is too narrow for the track, which answers the question as to whether the colosseum section could be used for a railway viaduct.

It was a great idea, though! Too bad it won't fit. :(

Yes, it it would have fitted I would have tried a quarter or even a half circle viaduct.

Here is how a curve or an array of curves can be measured  :)

This measurements is based on the Pythagora's theorem which is considered the first major achievement of mankind of ' translating ' the cosmos with maths .... more than 2500 yrs ago too  ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
