Title: Is there a "Playmobil Complaints Thread"?
Post by: Gustavo on January 14, 2012, 23:07:44
I'm very sad because I see that 4742 (attached) is not being sold anymore either in the US or Germany >:( (through the site). Has it been discontinued already? This isn't fair! :( :'(

It's selling in Canada. I don't understand why it would be discontinued.

I don't like the gloves and the bright green and yellow colors, otherwise he does look a lot better like the conquistadors from the lighthouse, with a proper breastplate.

Maybe some day they will bring conquistadores back to the pirates theme. Would be great to have them with a galleon.

I have a complaint. I'm really bummed that this set is not available as an add-on anymore: http://playmodb.org/setpics/7443.jpg :( I wanted to get several of them, and they're gone now. :-\

It's probably still found on Amazon, but I can't buy right now (not a thing :-[ ). Only in a couple of months. But the point is that it was discontinued so soon! It'll make it disappear soon too. Maybe within a year it won't be found anymore :(

By the way, I like and need his parts. Specially the shoulder accessories and the helmet, but also the hair and beard (although the hair is a common part -- but not the beard).

The add-ons either stay on the books for years or come and go in the blink of an eye. There's no happy medium.  8}

7443 - 2 Rivers (http://www.playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=7443)

You can't link to a photo at PlaymoDB, only the set page.
It's a nice set, it would be even more useful if they had it open ended at both ends so you could combine a bunch of them together.

Thanks Tim, that's it exactly. It worked for you, bonnie, because you'd already looked at it through PlaymoDB and it was in your cache. Copy the BBCode text at the bottom of each set- and part-page and copy it into a post to make a nice tidy link.

Ah yes, we just talked about this recently in another thread, I believe. :-[ I had forgotten.

Thanks for the link, Tim.

It's a Special and Specials are generally discontinued after 12 months.  They are actually available for 12 months in Europe and then 12 months worldwide; that's the way it is.

The odd thing about the spanish knight though was that it became available here in August and is gone now... (though they did actually first get them in in June/July... it was only available on the Playmo website for a short while... hopefully it will show up at the discount retailers though

Well, I hope to still get one. I don't know if the Crusader and the Archer (4670 and 4672) were discontinued so soon, but they're from 2008, if I'm not mistaken, and until last year (2011) it was easy to get any of them -- even in quantity -- on Amazon.com ... (And you can possibly still find them there even now, though they must be beginning to get harder to get.) So I hope I'll still get at least a couple or three Conquistadores :( ... But I don't know, I have an impression that it stayed there for less time than usual, or the others (maybe not 4672 (archer) but 4670 (Crusader) almost for sure) were available for a longer period :hmm: ...

Just saw this guy advertised on sale here at a local store for $2.  Am going to try to pick one (or two) up if they still have them.  Sorry I guess that doesn't really help you though :(

That's all right ... I'm kinda getting used to it. Curse to any playmobil lover is the word "discontinued" ::)

I'd like to ask moderators, if convenient, to move this thread to the "Playmobil brainstorm" forum.
It makes more sense there.

I'm about to leave communities and unlike facebook page.
Geobra don't think at all about poor playmobil lovers. There are lots of new things in many sets, but most of them are not editted in small cheaper sets. It's very frustrating, and makes a guy wish to give it all away again! >:( (Which I won't, not again, of course :-[ )

Maybe I'll become an hermit collector :(

You'll regret it.... Learn from other people's mistakes, as you won't live long enough to make them all yourself...

You have a point Gustavo, all these new sets and constant FB pages are not directed to collectors, but to the general public. Its only reasonable for them as a company to promote their new products. I think they are clever in their strategies to make the new sets appealing to young kids but at the same time maintaining a sense of nostalgia that can be appealing to the adult collector...

Whatever the case, don't forget... communities like PF wil always maintain the grown up collector interests, through the common experiences we share. We can preserve the love for older sets here. Even if Playmobil wants to use FB to only promote their new sets, and I am sure thats what they will be doing from now on, we'll keep maintaining our love for the older sets we grew up with and now can enjoy in greater numbers  ;D

Ya that river bugged me as well. I would have bought a lot more if it was open ended as Tim mentioned. I was only able to use one of the pieces and have many "ends"  left over

I wanted to also buy more roadways but how many cutter/rollers do you need?

Now my BIGGEST complaint is the clip system. I like to remodel my buildings with the boys so we can create what WE want a structure to look like. playmobil was the best of both worlds, a playable toy and a construction toy. Unlike Lego you could actually play with everything with out the fear of it constantly falling apart. My wife actually wanted and still wants to glue the Lego sets together, must be here German control issues
