After seeing some tahra's PROCESS and Wolf Knight's organization threads, I decided to have a go at organizing my Playmo, which is a mess, given that we have just moved. I took some pics last night, but can't post them immediately because the camera's battery is charging. :)
Photos later...

I'm curious about your collection. And especially the pics of course. 8-)

I think I will follow Tahra's and Wolf Knght example and your steps Playmoman.
I think I need to change my system. I have boxes by theme and each theme in complete sets... I think I need to do it by item... it is easier for photostories. NOt sure yet.
Can't wait to see what you come up to. :)

Okay, finally, here's some pics. I managed to organize a lot of my Romans today and am going to start working on the Vikings and Barbarians tomorrow.
The mess.

Alright then, here's pics of today's work. I managed to make some headway in the Viking/Barbarian theme, but struck a roadblock with the 3151 as I was to wide for the shelves. I decided to spend the next hour clearing space around the display tables so that tomorrow I can move more freely in the playroom.
The Vikings/Barbarian shelves.

That's all for today. :)

nice displays!

That's great, you have your shelves beautifully organized. Everyone has a different way of attacking the problem, and I haven't seen anyone do set tags on the shelves before.

It is indeed a very organized way to display your playmo.
Just like in a museum. I like it.

I'm jealous of your barbarians..
Gonna kick myself some more now... brb.

Unfortunately, I have decided not to continue displaying my sets on the shelving units, mainly because of the lack of space and the cost to continue buying the storage units. :(
I have stored most of the Playmo in boxes, and have slipped them on the shelves. Pictures will follow! :camera:

Saddly comes a time when we can't display any more :-\ ... just organise them in an orderly fashion and have an easier way to use them for projects ;D

And that's the sad truth, sigh :'(

They disorganize themselves! I swear it! It's the ONLY explanation.

It's true. There are days when I come home to a complete mess... :eh?:
-
Maybe they all just try to find their original hat when you arent looking. :)

It's true, I get everything so organized, and then the first time I try to set up a picture, there's something I cant find, and before I know it, the playmobil is everywhere. :-\

I dont have that problem... sure the contents in a tub are not tidy, but I know what I need is there somewhere...

I'm slowly getting to that stage, but before long Knaresborough Exhibition will come along and I bet I'll be back to square one!

My puchases seem to find their way to the top of my bar, where they sit for months waiting to be put away in the storage bins.

Oh yes, mine is all very organized in nicely stacked bins. Except for the part when I am setting up or tearing down a scene.
You have a misc bin Joe. I've got a box like that. Some time we should do a thread comparing what ends up in those.

What an excellent idea Tim!! I have a big one... I'll be happy to share and compare its contents with you all!
hmmm now that I think about it, its more like a spare parts box...
-
I dont have that problem... sure the contents in a tub are not tidy, but I know what I need is there somewhere...
Yeah, I know exactly what bin things are in, but I have to start unstacking boxes to get to the right bin, so the boxes come out of the closet. And then I decide to leave them out until I finish, so i can put the stuff back more easily. ANd then after taking out a bunch of stuff from many different boxes, putting it all back in the right places is a challenge... it's funny how I know where to find it before I get it out, but remembering where it goes when it's time to put it up is harder. :-\

Misc boxes are great. Mine is mostly sort of a holding area... it's a box with no lid, and when I have something that i don't have time to put away properly, or something new that doesn't quite fit in any category and I need to figure out what to do with it, it goes in the misc. box. Then later when I have time I go through that box and put away what I can. But there are some things that just stay in there because I never can figure out where I should put them.
Anyway... comparing would be fun! You should start a thread, Tim, for us to compare contents of our misc. boxes.
-
uggg... it seems like ALL my boxes are miscellaneous

Same here  lots of unstacking, leaving in the middle of the room, moving tubs ar the other end, leave the tubs without a lid, yes, that can be a mess alright 8} But in the end, everything is back where it belongs... its becoming too mechanical after a while

Oh yes Tim, you must definately start one!!!
Mine's got spare items, parts that I dont need, organised minibags of items from the same theme that I need, mixed bits and bobs...
