Title: ALL THE PIRATE ISLANDS AND FORTRESSES PLAYMOBIL EVER MADE
Post by: cachalote on May 28, 2010, 21:52:59
after the previous thread - "all the pirate shps playmobil ever made" - i decided to continue with this sequel.  :)
just like the previous thread i have to thank playmobil official archive, collectobil, heather's playmodb and axel's collector books for helping me on this one.  :wow:
in the same manner i hope that if i miss something all of you my playmofriends can correct me.  :yup:

it all starts in 1991-92 with the 3799 schatzinsel.
2 equal european versions:
v1: 1991/92-1997
v2: 1997-1999
in 2005 the same island with different figures and some extra accessories is launched as a karstadt exklusiv - the 4073 schatzinsel.
direkt service (both european and american( have the hut form this island available as the 7436 aussichts-hütte  (observation hut) with a yellow roof
a brown roof was named the 7298.

in 1996 the first european fortress - a prison - is launched.
it's the 3859 piraten-verlies   (it goes until 2000).
1n 1999 target in the u.s. launches its american version, apparently with 2 box versions, the 3914.
in 2008 direkt service re-launches just the buiding, the 7377 turmverlies.

the same tower is later used to produce the 2002 american 3351 harbor prison tower.
the green-coat turns into a red-coat and one of the pirates turns into a skeleton.
still using the green-coat soldier spain's playmobil mixes the 3859 tower set with the 3794 piraten set to create the 9989.

also in 1996 the famous (i decided so) 3861 pirateneiland   that goes until 1998.
i think this small set is one of playmobil's highest achievments.

the other schooner, the one with red sails also comes with a different rocky island.
it's the european 2003 3133 special edition 25 years pirates   (export exklusiv) and its twin the american 3619 pirates special value set (with 2 versions, v1-2001, v2-2003

the year 2000 sees the birth of another giant island, the 3938 piratenlagune   (that gos until 2004).
in 2001 it gets an american twin the 3285 pirate lagoon.

in 2001 there comes another soldiers' fortress/prison, this time using blue-and-red-coats and a lot of extras (those were the days) - the 3112 gefängnisfestung   (2001-2004) and its american twin, the 3288 naval stronghold.
in 2008 direkt sevice re-issues the bare building with some acessories as the 7376 soldatenfestung (or prison fortress in the american version).
a smaller version of the 3112/3288 is produced in america in 2004 - the 5727 pirate dungeon

from 2001 to 2005 playmobil produces the 3127 superset piraten, also in an american version (2002) called pirates starter set.

in 2004 american playmobil launches another small island, the 5728 treasure island (actually a small sand cave).

in 2008 it was also available in europe as the 7718 piratenversteck.

... and the first time christmas is linked to pirates with the 4156 adventskalender / piratenlagune   (still available in 2008).
it also posesses an amercan twin called advent calendar pirates.
this set i decided to include in this thread because it has a cardboard island as a scenario.

continuing in 2007 playmobil u.s. launches 3 sets that i have my doubts if should be considered as islands.
they just have very small rocks (hardly islands or fortresses).
they are the:
5807(us) pirate with canon
5808(us) skull hideout
5809(us) pirates’ dinghy

2009 sees the last of the boat/island combination with the arrival of the 5009 piraten gefecht   (a very elusive zirndorf funpark and german toys r' us exklusiv).
in america it seems easier to get (mine arrived today) with a different ref., the 5881 pirates playset.

... and finally (at last) 2 doubtful sets (for very different reasons).
- 2006, u.s., 5779 skeleton shipwreck  (i know it has no sand or rock but can we consider it as a sort of a floating island? please?).
- 2008 (and still available), 4803 geisterwalskelett  (the doubts com the fact that it is a ghost-pirate set and i kind of didlike the ghost pirate series).

Yes that is the one!!! The diorama one!! The one I had!!!  :yippee: :yippee: :yippee: :yippee: Thank you cachalote!! Thank you so much!!!
I think the diorama one is the 1st version, produced in 1991? And the set number must be at the front of the box on the down right hand corner in small black numbers?
While the second one, just showing the contents on the back, was produced in 1997 and the set number is in the purple background at the bottom!!!

you can identify the version from many things from the ways of the number written if we speak about from end of 80's to 90's the older sets write the contents in all languages in the front they have dioramas on the back (all the small sets and a few big . most big sets the back is blue ) from 1993 some of the new sets started to change with putting all the contents shown on the back in detail and the number in front in a colour box from 1994 all the new sets were like this !!!!

 before 1993

it's a little bit different but i had the feeling - when i first saw this new pirates super set - that it was, as you say, the same super set re-issued with different klickies.  :hmm:
now i am confused but i can't find the identical set belonging to another "family".

:wow:thank you wolfknight, these are the very ones.
... and you are right, the island/fortress is the same.
i have no problems with it since i am a solo-pirate collector.
i think the main problem could be for some kid that gets as a present the same set with different klickies - in 2 different but very close in time moments.
maybe it would be wiser for geobra to would delay the release of this second superset for a couple of years.

Yes that would be sad, wouldn't it? I think the 5863 is only produced for hte US, not in the europena market yet, and the 4133 was the first of these to be produced...Not sold, here in Greece at least, for a year now...so I think they do not overlap...

I must say that I'm not impressed with the latest large pirate island.  It seems to me to be much too inspired by the recent Pirates of the Caribbean Disney movies.  I'd really like a new version of 3799 but larger.  Now that I've recently been adding ships, forts, and soldiers to my Pirates collection, I realize I need a hideout for my pirates. :arrr: :captain:

I just noticed on the first page, with the set that combines the old prison tower with various pirate sets, that the pirates appear to have put handcuffs on the soldier with the green coat, and he also has the chain around his neck.

Looks like they felt sorry for their buddy with the red bandana and came to resque him and hold a grand feast for him.
