Title: Harbour town in Roman Egypt
Post by: Birdie on April 08, 2013, 17:07:15
My new little project fits on a single table: a Roman-Egyptian town entrance with a market square and an amfitheater as backdrop.

I don't know exactly what kind of food or animals they really had in the first century AD, so you might spot some inaccuracies. Same goes for the soldiers: I probably messed up their gear and head-wear  :-[  But I had heaps of fun creating the diorama, my first in this theme. The number of sets is limited but there's a lot you can do with it.

I would like to thank my sponsor Mitri for his contribution :wow: Most of the sets are his, but he has never gotten around to making it into a town or taking pictures. So I've asked him if I could give it a go  ;D

I'd like to chill on that square. :egypt:
Birdie would be a better owner of these sets. ;) Not gonna happen though.

We love it!  Our fave theme

The scorpion chasing is hilarious :)

Using the egyptian boat thing as a stall is a real nice idea.. as the fortune teller in the coleseum.. and the barge's top as a building too! So much to see.

Thanks for sharing!

Splendid dio, Birdie!  Love all the shops.  The fruit and vegetable vendor is especially clever and you have shown that the Nativity set isn't just for Christmas anymore!  :)9

Very nice I like your creative use of the bandages and the Pirate and Tattoed man figures. Your town feels like it's got the right desert fel to it and yet at the same time it feels very green and lush in places I like the settup and the food seller are great particularly the fruit and veg sell er loved looking through it  :egypt:

Those market stands are my favorite part of it, though it all looks great.  :)

Nice to see baby jesus being protected from the scorpion.  ;)
