I think the number is meant to represent the naval identity code for the vessel.  :)

 ;D I got that.  ;D

I meant to ask if it means something "Playmobil-wise". Like the car plaques that read PM -and the set number.
It's obviously not the case here ... but maybe someone knows something about it ...

According to the THE WEBSITE OF THE MARINERS MAILING LIST. PORT DISTINGUISHING LETTERS (http://www.mariners-l.co.uk/portletters.html), S is either Skagen in Denmark or Skibbereen in Ireland.

Thanks Gordon!
Well, on the box she flies the Danish flag, so she must hail from Skagen!  :)

Hi Erik - I realize this thread is from last year, however today I received a 3551 Trawler and found your post.  The boat I received looks to have many of the original parts, however I don't have the instructions to compare to.  I am wondering if you have a copy that you can 'share' online.  I know I won't be able to get the rigging right without them.

Also, I am curious what your restoration of the boat entailed.  Mine has some discoloration due to age and the crummy brown paint on the hull.  Other than that I am quite happy with its overall condition.  I'd like to know what you did to 'spruce' yours up.

Many thanks for any guidance.

Sandra.
