My Grande Mansion is built and the room sets are in place. It's a system X building which was easy but time consuming to assemble. The walls seem thinner than the previous mansion houses, but once built, the finished item seems sturdy enough. I like the fact it has two balconies but not very keen on the spiral staircases that look like a deathtrap to me. Any klicky who is a bit unsteady on their feet could easily fall to their death on these narrow tread steps and flimsy handrails.
-
Here are the new owners, the Leonards. At the moment they have no children but they'll arrive in time with the furniture, along with the grandparents and various other family members.
-
The doorbell needs two AAA batteries that fit under the front steps in the standard Playmobil battery compartment. The steps are the second piece to add to the base and batteries are best added at this point because it's easier than waiting until the house is completed. The sound of the doorbell is fairly quiet, but it makes a nice realistic ding dong sound. You can see the button to activate the bell just under the letterbox. The speaker for the bell is situated just in front of the main doors and is designed to look like a doormat which is a nice touch.
-
Lots of attractive flowers to cultivate on both balconies.
-
Side view of the house. All the windows on the main floors have opening shutters and windows.
-
You only get curtains in the living room and they're a pretty sorry affair. I prefer the fabric curtains of the original mansion. These are plastic and very narrow.
-
This is one of the the dividing walls. I don't know why there is such a large gap at the top and I don't like it or see the reason for it. :(
-
Living room. The working fireplace is great.
-
The on button is situated behind a door in the middle of the fire. I think the button would have been better placed on the top or side. When you initially switch the fire effect on it looks rather disappointing..........
-
......but when it gets going, it really lights up and looks pretty impressive. The fire turns itself off after a minute or so and gradually dies down to a single light instead of turning off from full blaze, which is a nice touch.
-
Here's the main bedroom. The woman's slippers are made of a rubbery material which is quite different to the slippers I have on earlier sets. Not a lot of furniture here, but the bed alone is worth getting this set for. Shame there's no rug in this set.
-
Here we see the lady getting ready to go to sleep. I love the alarm clock but there's not much room on the bedside tables to put it. The bedside lights require three AAA batteries that fit under the bed. I like the fact that both lights are independently switched so you don't have to have both on at once. The light automatically turns off after about a minute and give off a nice bright white light.
-
Here we have the kitchen. There are a lot of small parts included with this set and I haven't shown them all here. I like the fact you can fix the cupboard unit on the wall, just like a real kitchen. I love the cheese board.
-
Those sausages don't stand a chance with a hungry dachshund around!
-
Here's the bathroom. I like the towel wrapped round the woman's body but modesty means she has a bikini on underneath. The mirrored bathroom cupboard can be fixed to the wall. I love all the details in this set. You get a lot of small accessories that aren't shown here.
-
The supplied toilet brush will keep her pan spick and span!
-
This stand comes with the kitchen and bathroom sets and is used for the wall mounted cupboards. This enables you to position the cupboards on a wall that doesn't have a fixing hole, but stands proud from the wall. ???
-
The children's bedroom has a lot of tiny pieces and none more tiny than the farm set. It's amazing how small these pieces are and would easily end up inside a vacuum cleaner without anyone realising they've sucked them up.
-
A closer pic of the farm set. I really love this toy for the Playmobil kids. :D
-
Here's the back of the furnished house. I still have to get the dining room and nursery. There is an additional floor available from direct service which could be added to give more room for the existing furniture or add more. I would probably add an office and an additional adults bedroom. Lighting sets are sold for each floor. I think priority would be to get the lights for the ground floor with less need for lighting on the top floor.
It's a nice house with some lovely detailed room sets, but it doesn't seem as solid as the house it replaces and I would have liked to see proper dividing walls between the rooms. My favourite room sets are the living room and adult's bedroom, mainly because of the fire effect and working bedside lights.
Buy one, you know you want to.

Yes! Yes! I do want to! Thanks so much for the great review. :thanks: So nice to see up close detailed pics! So many nice touches, like the doormat speaker and the fading fire. And I hadn't noticed the lamps light up.
This may sound like an odd request, but could you show us a pic of the bathroom lady without the towel? :-[ We haven't seen a pic yet of what's under there!

Oh, thanks so much! That definitely could pass for a swimsuit, then, which is great.
I can't wait to get this whole theme!
-
Wonderful review, Roger! It was almost like you were right there along with the family. :yup: The fireplace is really neat. As for the bathroom lady . . . hubba hubba! :(o):

Great review, thanks
Did you happen to take any pictures of the building going together to see how it can be manipulated in design ?
-
Excellent review!!! I want one too!!! Its reall huge!!! And very spacey!!! Loots of room to move in there!!!
Thank you for the great pics!!!
-
Great review. That clear piece is interesting, it might be used to hold SysX bits other places too.
-
Wow! Great review of an incredible dollhouse! I like all of the room kits made with the 5302. The living room set looks especially lovely as does the dining room set.
Love the pics showing everything inside. My favorite is the swimsuit lady because I am trying to make a beach scene. US DS did not have any swimsuit Klickies of adults as of this afternoon, so it is cool to see one in another set.
Can't wait for mine to arrive.
Thanks again for all of the info as this level of detail did not pop up anywhere else when I was looking for more info about the 5302. PM needs to post shots of every room furnished and unfurnished so we can see what we are buying beforehand.
Cheers, Pgal

I love the bathroom set and the kids playing with the farm set! awesome!
-
ohh thanks for the picture of the last woman without her towel - not that i like to see female klickies naked :P but that outfit could be used for a bathing suit indeed :D
as for the rest - these victorian-inspired modern mansions are not of my taste at all...
-
Great pictures! Thanks so much for the review! I wasn't very interested in that house but after that review I have changed my mind.
That unfinished dividing wall does look weird, wonder what they had in mind. ???
-
Buy one, you know you want to.
AGH, yes, I DO I DO!
Gorgeous pics, thanks for the great review.
Loved the family name on the mailbox ;)

Originally, I thought that I was going to get the adult's bedroom and the kitchen but now after your great review the bathroom and living room look very appealing!
Thanks for the great review.

Oh, the 7484 kit. Do people get those lighting kits? I do not recall anyone ever doing a review of any.
To light up the suburban house it will cost you $102 :o for 7390 & 7391 it better be great kits for that much.
-
Ras,
I agree the house lighting kits are way overpriced. Will see how they work in 5302 as I ordered two just to test them out. And they are cheaper this go round.
Cheers, Pgal

Maybe you could find some time to do a review on them when you get them ;) With all the other buttons this house has they seem to fit right in.
Also could you please check on your package where the electronics are made? Geobra did not even have the ability to make the mini magnet sets so I am curious where these are made.
playmobil sure is going the electronic route more and more.

great revew !! very detailed :)
as i see it now though i don't like the colours that much especially the windows ... yellow window? ??? no a little silly :hmm:

Sure! It should arrive in a day or two, and yes, can't wait to build it. Hubby wants to see how the lighting kit works, too, because he can probably improve on it. 8-)
So I should be able to post a review early next week with a little luck. Sometimes the projected delivery dates are 2-3 days off even though we are just an 8 hour drive from the warehouse.
Can't wait to see the furniture, which appears to have much nicer design than some of the recent sets. And the bath looks lovely.

Thanks for the fantastic review!! What a charming little set! I love the accessories
I feel a spending spree coming on :-\

I've split a few off-topic posts from this thread and moved them here: http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=8271.0

bb: Thanks for starting a new topic for painting 5302 sets. This should be a fun one as most of us want to build the darn thing but prefer other colors or some other look.
Cheers, Pgal

Thanks for the review. :)
I don't like this mansion...a too modern look. :(
-
Yes, it isn't meant to be victorian at all. It's cape dutch architecture and super modern furniture.
-
What a fabulous review Roger. I particularly like your photos and comments about each furniture set. I love the light up aspects.
