Title: 9146+9147 Figures 11
Post by: tahra on January 26, 2017, 21:53:41
9146+9147 Figures 11

Review up at playkingdoms.. not gonna repeat myself here...

Direct link: Figures 11 (http://www.playkingdoms.com/pk2/library/figures/figs11/s11.aspx)

There are some great ones - and a very nice surprise... And parts wise too :)

Apparently there's been a big mess with the ice princess crowns... on the first box we opened, there were NONE. Someone on THAT site says in the TEN BOXES he opened, none had it!

I WILL contact them. We'll see how that goes.

But I think I will try to amputate a couple of those "pegs"... it does look silly with the crown, imo.

Printing is also a big issue. A couple of the pink queens have their torsos all messed up :(

I'll add the kept ones later (when we actually decide on those :-[  )

Anyways, let me know if I missed anything...

Yea! Thanks for the review!

It has been a great series. I'm running my legs off harvesting "Spartans" (I prefer Hoplite as the official designation) and Elf Archers, my personal favourites. The first clearly is most popular, so hard to get, even here. I nonetheless prefer the latter, just marvellous to combine with one's Elf Knights (the skirt ). Both are utterly awesome, but so are others.

I really, really like a Klicky with their eyes closed, so very much enjoy "Sleeping Flower" - amazing that this idea wasn't put into production before! Too bad that no appropriate adult hat was produced for her, or that the hands do not match the facial tan, but small beer over all.

Peruvian is great, too. Did you notice that her wristcuffs are very, very special, as this type of this colour was only once seen before, on the falconer in 3628?

Finally, thanks for pointing out the beauty of "Ice Princess". Need to put her on my list. The lack of crowns in your batch is no coincidence - there appears to have been an error in packaging this figure, so lots of bags are missing the same part.

Thanks again and best wishes

Thanks for the detailed review!

My jaw dropped open at the guy with muscles. That just seems such an odd choice for Playmo.

Love the ghost butler - that tray is great.

The Hendrix torso with the chest hair and necklace is hilarious!

The steampunk guy!!!

I'm still not sold on all of the males, but will still buy them as it's a lot of fun. As for the females, I'm even more in love with most of them!

Playmobil US listed the Indian female as an Inca Maiden... which the patterning might be good for. Perhaps they are listening to us and we might get Mayans and Aztecs!

perhaps we could give those muscular spartan arms to the olympic weight lifter?

I suppose the steampunk's/elf-archer's wrist covers cant hold securely over "wristed" arms?

(Those angelic eyes are taking over as standard eyes sooner than I thought...not that they are not nicer....just klickies becoming generic toy dolls....sooner than bent arms and knees  :P )

those tasty heart thingies are white versions of those belts for hunting rifles etc snapped inside the hearts like a locket?

thanks for sharing those photos and your reviews :)

Great review as always.  Some I really love there. Looking forward to getting them. Hopefully they will have solved the crown issue when they eventually get to us here.

Thank you :)

I think she is my favorite too! That one and the ice princess feet...

(...) or that the hands do not match the facial tan, but small beer over all.

You know, I had that originally in my review, but my sister pointed out that her "hands" are supposed to be part of the... stem (?) of the flower (or possibly the leaves) and so.. green.

Peruvian is great, too. Did you notice that her wristcuffs are very, very special, as this type of this colour was only once seen before, on the falconer in 3628?

I saw the comment on klickywelt...  ;D   I like yellow (as everyone knows by now, probably  :-[ ), so...

Finally, thanks for pointing out the beauty of "Ice Princess". Need to put her on my list. The lack of crowns in your batch is no coincidence - there appears to have been an error in packaging this figure, so lots of bags are missing the same part.

All the ice princesses on the second box had the crown. But it was a serious packing error, yes...

My jaw dropped open at the guy with muscles. That just seems such an odd choice for Playmo.

The problem is that it looks odd next to the chest.. and everyone else...

Love the ghost butler - that tray is great.

Yes, it is. I have doubts about keeping a second one of those for the tray!  (klicky parts, I don't think we really need a ghost butler!)

The Hendrix torso with the chest hair and necklace is hilarious!

:) But at least he is different!  Wish I could have some extra arms..

The steampunk guy!!!

We both like him.. but it will be a struggle to make a friend or two for him.

Playmobil US listed the Indian female as an Inca Maiden... which the patterning might be good for. Perhaps they are listening to us and we might get Mayans and Aztecs!

May the Gods hear you!  I have seen her refered  to as latin american, south american, bolivian.. and peruvian. My quick google search came up with a peruvian costume that resembles what the klicky is wearing, so I went for that name...

perhaps we could give those muscular spartan arms to the olympic weight lifter?

There's a thought... except.... I think he has the ligher skin...

I suppose the steampunk's/elf-archer's wrist covers cant hold securely over "wristed" arms?

Not sure they will fit, since normal arms are thicker than these wristless ones, right?  And I am not willing to force these, as they are awesome and I have few.

(Those angelic eyes are taking over as standard eyes sooner than I thought...not that they are not nicer....just klickies becoming generic toy dolls....sooner than bent arms and knees  :P )

We call they fairy heads... I don't think they are nicer than the "normal" ones, just different. And I do like them, I just think there are too many in this series.

those tasty heart thingies are white versions of those belts for hunting rifles etc snapped inside the hearts like a locket?

I think so, yes.

Hopefully they will have solved the crown issue when they eventually get to us here.

Well, I saw other people with the crown too... the "packing line" must have been the crown box during a day or a shift, I suppose.

I like the idea of a jello skull!

Yes! :)

I saw the comment on klickywelt...  ;D

Then you may also have read our discussion (http://www.klickywelt.de/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=62445&start=75/) of the hoplite helmet. We believe it is an adaptation of the mould of the Helmet, barbarian, cheek-guards (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-28-2770/), not an entirely new design. That would explain why the typical long cheek protection of a Corinthian helmet has been omitted. There are, however, some great custom pieces around. Too bad I only do real PM ...

Best wishes

Well, I thought it was just the elf helmet with a crest..  Until I saw pics in klickywelt... those pics, yes!
(my german is not enough to actually follow a discussion like that - hence my silence there)

Since I assume I was not the only one to think that, I included the compare pics in my review too.

I am not really demanding regarding historical accuracy, I suppose  :-[

Thank you so much for that detailed review with so many pictures. It must have taken you ages! I devoured it in a very short time span  ;D

I agree that sleeping flower lady is beyond weird and quite useless. But there are some beautiful additions too. Hendrix, indeed, and the Peruvian girl: stunning!

In fact, how cool would Hendrix be as a museum or anniversary special like Goethe or Luther? Stuff like that could really be a wedge into the US market.

:-[  Yes. Doesn't help that I am lousy at pics - more than 500 on last saturday alone. Plus some missing ones sunday. AND some more tuesday before class  ::)

Well.. my sister mostly figured the sleepy flower.  The elf and mermaid especially =

The peruvian is gorgeous, but it'd be a shame to clean that skirt. I don't think I can.

I don't find him THAT great. Then again, neither is Luther. That hat is quite bad on a medieval dude, imo. I think he'd look good as HarryPotterish something. But we are not fans, so... we won't make those.

Thanks, as always, for the detailed pics! It's hard to get a good look at things from PM's photos.

Especially the ones that show HALF the klicky  >:(

Heh, last Saturday I also took 500 Playmo pix and ended up this week at the doctor with a "repetitive strain injury". ::sigh::  Seems like the particular height I had my photo cube at and the way I was holding my camera and the amount of time I spent spelled disaster.  AGONY!

Close enough. I don't know if they would need special permission to produce an official Hendrix.
Brother-in-law: He plays the guitar. If he gets bored with the klicky, I'm sure the small child will be happy to take it off his hands.

I've got a question regarding the Viking. Pretty figure (but if I'm not too keen on Samurai armour appearing everywhere) & nice shield (lousy printing with mine) but it is unexpected that the hair and beard () are of a different shade of yellow. Same with yours?

@Tahra: get well soon.

I have no idea either. I would say so. Same with that green weirdo, Lara Croft, Aeon (sp?) Flux, Elvis and others, right? Me thinks they are courting a lawsuit... but what do I know.

We are of a singular mind regarding the Samurai armor  ;D  - the kept one is well rid of it!

Lousy printing is a curse. We should start complaining every single time. I have to complain about the missing crowns, and I will mention the lousy printing - some pink queens are useless. And an indian.

And yes, the beard doesn't match. I tried to find a closer match, but still not perfect (older classic hair, I think)... Silly, right?

@Tahra: get well soon.

Ah, not me...

We spent most of the day around the figures yesterday, and I went on today, and STILL not done!

The viking looks weird from the front. The big shoulders from his samurai armour highlight even more his loin cloth black belt which makes him look like he's wearing black speedos over tights.
From the back though he looks awesome, suddenly that samurai armour looks like leather scale armour and gives him a sense of heft and the colours of the trousers and boots look natural.

I was going to say he looks like a 70s porn star from the front, but then saying he looks good from behind might have given the wrong impression.

Love the merman from the Greek warrior as well as the use of that helmet with the Greek god bodies. The use of the samurai armor pieces on the other merpeople was also really clever. Your steampunk people are great too, makes me want a whole theme of them.

Told my sister :)  That torso was BEGGING for it though...

(..) as well as the use of that helmet with the Greek god bodies.

When I went to get a blue crest on my roman stuff box, saw the whites and... :)

The use of the samurai armor pieces on the other merpeople was also really clever.

We did that before for mermen... Though neither of us is very fond of the samurai upper armor, we both LOVE the waist armor.

Your steampunk people are great too, makes me want a whole theme of them.

Thank you. Our first. I want more goggles.

I am liking them a lot more than I should  ::)  :-[

And I thought I lost one for a bit there! I eventually found it under all the bags when cleaning up. Whew!

I did "lose" the snow princess to small child though.
