It is the one and only movie they are talking about since some years. Because it will be released in 2019, I think we can expect a teaser trailer in the near future...

It sounds logical they´d make such sets, but if the film would turn out not to be the expected success...

As per a Variety report from the French Annecy film festival :)...
"ON Animation Studios unveiled new details and some footage of Lino Di Salvo’s anticipated “Playmobil: The Movie” during a work-in-progress session at Annecy Animation International Film Festival.
Di Salvo, a Disney veteran who served as head of animation on “Frozen” and was animation supervisor on “Tangled” and “Bolt,” presented “Playmobil” via a recorded video and said the film will be character-driven, trigger emotions and imagination, while the designs will “embrace the simplicity and uniqueness of ‘Playmobil.'”
Unveiled during the session, the plot revolves around twenty-year old Marla who is forced to abandon her carefully structured life to embark on an epic journey to find her young brother Charlie who has disappeared into the vast and wondrous animated world of Playmobil. Blaise Hemingway, Greg Erb and Jason Oremland wrote the script. A portion of the film is in live-action
“The film is an emotional, adventure-filled journey in the veins of ‘Finding Nemo,'” said Julien Bocabeille, the head of animation, who attended the Annecy work-in-progress session with the producer Aton Soumache.
A clip of the movie was shown at the presentation and sparked an enthusiastic reaction from attendees — some of whom applauded the designs, Disney/Pixar quality and the voices.
Soumache, who is producing “Playmobil: The Movie” with Dimitri Rassam at ON Animation Studios, along with Alexis Vonarb and Moritz Borman, told Variety that the movie, which is represented by Lionsgate, has now been sold worldwide (save Japan) to major distributors, including Studiocanal in the U.K. and Tele München Group in Germany. As previously announced, Open Road Films will handle the U.S. release while Pathe will roll out the film in France.
The well-seasoned animation producer also revealed that “Playmobil” will boast, under Di Salvo’s impulse, a strong musical component and several original songs as did “Frozen” which scored more than $1.2 billion around the world. The film will also be headlined by a high-profile English-speaking voice cast as did “The Little Prince,” ON Animation Studios’s previous feature which grossed $97.5 million at the box office worldwide.
During the presentation, Soumache also addressed the positioning of “Playmobil” compared with “Lego: The Movie.” “The movie ‘Lego’ relied a lot on comedy and wasn’t so much driven by characters, while our film will follow more the Disney tradition of storytelling and is meant to appeal to girls as much as boys,” explained Soumache, who quipped “‘Lego’ grossed almost $500 million worldwide, if we make half of that will be very happy!”
Aside from the movie, ON Animation Studios has also developed a topnotch virtual reality experiment which allows users to jump into scenes from the film and interact with characters and decors. A segment of the VR experiment is on display at Annecy’s market, Mifa"

Anyway, I'll reserve judgement on the film for now, it'll be interesting to see the 'universe' of Playmobil

Interesting point about there being a section of live action - perhaps Marla becomes animated on entering the PM world, like Dorothy going from monochrome Kansas to multicoloured Oz?
It's also interesting that pre-release, the film is discussed by reference to known works (Finding Nemo, Frozen, Lego movie, Wizard of Oz). Perhaps in the future, it will itself be a new benchmark?

For me, the only good part about Joan was the torso from the planeta one :love: (still didn't find them in numbers... something tells me those issues will be hard - or impossible - to find, and anyways, I cannot pay 9 eur for a torso in numbers, right? see? sense! :P )
I think this one's torso looks a bit odd... she looked pregnant on a couple of pics... But she does have a LOT of potential.. IF she is a normal klicky... If she turns out to be a starved deformed one.. well.. :'(
(and that Viking!!! :o :love: - same applies)
I am looking forward to the movie anyways! Klickys moving always has a high appeal for me.. I am afraind we will only get a horribly murdered version here. A shame. I do hope they sell it, so we can watch it properly.

I too am not a fan of a great emphasis on music & songs for (such) a movie. Especially if it is primarely an action or adventure story.

I'm a little worried that the description required so much name-dropping of famous movies. It's like, "It'll be great. I promise. No really. It *will* be great."

The one in the suit could go either way, although I think that might be Daniel Radcliffe's character since he is the "secret agent."

I think she might be. I'm not seeing any mention of a knight, so perhaps it's Marla in a knight outfit.
There's Marla, her brother, a secret agent, a food truck guy, a robot, a fairy godmother, and an evil Roman emperor. No mention of where the Viking comes in. So, yeah, the female characters are looking exactly like Super 4: a chick with a sword and a fairy.

The movie will be released in August next year in Europe, which means that the sets should be teased in the first half year catalogue of 2019. After all: if the Super 4 sets can sell (and be honest, those sets are damn weird...) than sets based on a movie will sell as well + they seem to finally learn from Lego, that was about time...

YEEEEEEES :lol: I actually enjoy that type of animation movies, if done properly! After all, those movies are really popular with kids right now! And that's the audience they focus on. On the other hand I'm sure there will be some nostalgious vibes for the adults, the director asked some questions about Playmobil on his Twitter.

I generally find musicals stupid - something is happening... and they start to sing?! Puhlease.
But that's just me.. As to the movies they mention.. well.. hated Frozen, Brave started great but was awful.. and I can't remember Tangled at all :-[

What is this, 2008? Never assume anyone’s gender. The tuxedo person could be a woman, for all we know. Or an inbetween, or whatever it is they call themselves nowadays.

I thought that that might be Marla when I saw this too. The hair bow in particular makes it look like she wouldn't fit into a traditional Knights-themed world and so is probably not a normal Playmobil figure (in the world of the film). In any case, that figure should be nice!

I'm always suspicious of this sort of thing (Super 4 for example) but I have to admit that trailer does not look as awful as I expected it to...could turn out to be decent. <*)

Cant wait . So nice to see all this playmo fauna as well. Pine trees everywhere , such a classic playmo part and one of my all time favorites. Certainly the backgrounds are very playmobil as well as these Klickies. :wave:

When is this coming out?
The Lego Movie 2 was just released, and attendance for the first weekend was disappointing compared to the first film, reports suggest. There seems to be a trend of diminishing returns here - the first Lego Movie was a hit, then The Lego Batman movie didn’t do as well, then the Ninjago movie did rather badly and now this. Seems like the novelty’s worn off.
Unfashionably late as always, I wonder where this leaves Playmobil and their own movie.

They look great, except Marla's eyes make her look like a simpleton or at least cross eyed and I don't like the cartoon eyes on the horse. The new purse with print and the bare legs of the Viking guy will be great for Scottish Highlanders.
The fancy Roman guy looks excellent.

I think most klickys look stupid (and crosseyed, yes!) - darn printed faces.. the new spirit ones look like idiots too, because the print is too high on the face >:(

According to the catalogue it is magical hey. That would kind of support your theory. Strangely enough there is more magical hey on the food truck.

I think I need to see the movie before I can judge any of the sets and that applies to the odd hey color. I mean the wings' color of the horse are weird but as weird as they look I think they are OK.

I wonder what type of voice will it have (no doubt it will be able to speak). :) The only sets I am looking forward is the one with the winged horse and a few (western) figures. I like the purple quadriga (I know it is two horses only) but what on earth are the pirates ...anyway - kids look at it from a different perspective.
