Title: Wind Mill for the garden railway
Post by: zugpferdchen on February 28, 2011, 18:15:21
Hello,

I got the wind mill today of the Sylvanian Families (came from GB/UK).
It's a very nice building and it fits well with the playmobil figures.
Only the railing is a little »shaky«. If it were playmobil, I think it would be better fixed.
But the appearance of the plastic is nearly the same as playmobil.
By rotating the wings the motor is »loaded«, so it rotates a while automatically.

This wind mill should be a highlight on our growing garden railway.

Excellent, thank you for sharing (and your English is fine  :)9)

Can someone give me a reason not to by the Sylvanian Families Canal Boat for my Playmobil folk to enjoy a lazy holiday in? http://www.sylvanianfamilies.com/product_info.php?cPath=19&products_id=1019 (http://www.sylvanianfamilies.com/product_info.php?cPath=19&products_id=1019)

The photograph does not really do it justice. I saw a real one in a shop the other day and was very tempted indeed.

One reason (for me would be)
The canal boat is very colorful (blue, green, yellow, red). That's too much (for me).

I've heard before of people using buildings for Playmobil from Sylvanian Family toys.
In case of this windmill, the scale is indeed excellent.
But from looking at the pic, I find the plastic/design used for the mill's wings a bit too un-Playmobilish. Nevertheless, it must fit generally well within a Playmobil-diorama.

Oh... any chance there are nice realistic Sylvanian pirate-ships?

I don't think so. Or could you imagine some teddy bears, sweet rabbits, hedgehogs, mice,... as grimly pirates?

I did not made photos from behind (open backs are not necessary on a garden railway), but here are some:

Very nice! I used to love Sylvanian Families Calico Critters when I was a kid. It's nice to see them make such a huge comeback.

My thoughts exactly  They'd be using their swords to make sandwiches for a picnic on the beach.  ;D

Oops!   I didn't know the Sylvanian buildings came with teddybears or other sweat animals...  8} ... I thought there were some sort of humanlike figures like with Playmobil.
