Yup, huge improvements in the figures this time! Geisha girl and the sports figures are outstanding! But is there no bare torso for male figures? Speedo Dad must be getting very, very lonely without another bare chest around.......ummmm!

Also like the new bank with the video cams and ATM machine.

Just returned from Science Safari in Cary, NC, where they will be having a PM sale Oct 1-15th. They will be selling off some store displays of various sets....they are already built in boxes and some come with different accessory sets. Very nice folks and one of the few independent  toy stores left.

Cheers, Pgal

ok after digesting this a little bit better i have things to prise about the surprise figures - seems the Geobra designers are less conservative each day: look at that hair on elvis and punk guy :o
and the adult justin biever (next to the mexican) - i love his hair! i think i will have to use that hairstyle for the teenage version of my son Félix!
There's a new ninja(?) but his eyes look odd - i guess it's the pic?

love the cheerleader, japanese woman, tomb raider, ballet dancer, vamp woman and jungle woman

there's a Dutch couple if i'm not mistaken? 8-)

Thanks for posting, Zookeeper -  - there's a lot there to keep people talking, although nothing really interests me.  The police riot team show Playmobil have been watching the boards, but the new police car looks horrendous, not  a patch on the BMW based one and the more recent VW Passat estate.

:yippee: Special forces!! New DINOS  :o! I LOVE IT ALL!!!
The police riot team show Playmobil have been watching the boards.

Definitely, Playmofire  :yup:! It also shows how Playmobil is (once again) contradicting themselves and ending up making something really great. In "The Story of a Smile" book on page 119 they say: "Naturally, the police officers are armed...but they will never carry machine guns."

Whoa.  Whoa.  Wow...

So, we'll be seeing these in 2013 in the states.
My little girl will be five.  She's 3 now, and can't stop talking about the pool she wants for her fourth b-day in October.
She has read my 2011 catalog to tatters.

I should probably start a special bank account for those pony sets...

And, shucks, I want those police sets so much...

Nice job Geobra...  I think...

Wow. Wow. Wow.
Some amazing things there, the whole new dino series is just
Baby dinos, stegosaurus, dimetrodon (technically not a dinosaur and form a much earlier period), flying lizards - a trilobite!
Some of the new plant forms too are just amazing. Did you notice the clear blue flowers in the stegosaurus set? Beautiful. New baby sheep, some new horses, all those wonderful fi?ures - did you notice the one in the hood is an old style green alien?

:) thanks you for the news zookeeper.
:-[ i totally missed them on klickywelt.
;) 2011 will be an easy year on my playmo-budget - only 2 pirates (loved the "white" special).

 great olympic sets - i know one of us playmofriends suggested some time ago that geobra should launch an olympic theme for the games (i think it was for the winter games then).
:!: i guess they liked the idea - and they should, it was genial.

 great random-take-apart-mixed male and female sets.
the first time i saw the first edition ones i thought they were a good idea.
 :wow: now i am sure.
:) they "breathe" freedom and adventure - and that is something very difficult to achive in toy design.
:) i hope they are a success and i hope the person who had this idea should be hired to be geobra's chief designer (at least up untill they hire sir pleamo).

Fantastic new sets....but now my bank balance is groaning under the imminent strain!

Love all the new figures although not sure about the strange smiles.

I reckon the Olympic sets may well be released worldwide at the same time, like the old specials used to be...given that 2012 is the Olympic year there seems little point waiting til 2013 to release these sets to the export market, especially as we would have to wait for an extra year in the country the 2012 Olympics are actually being held!

The most noticeable thing to me though was that in the bank robber set, the bank robber with the gun is a female....which, to be fair, will be a good avatar for me given that I might need to rob a bank before all these cool new sets are released ;D

Many thanks for posting these pics,

Love the new pirates and the Fi?ures series 2. Much better than series 1 in my opinion. That klicky has teeth because she is a vampire, hence the cup of blood she is drinking so I think it works.

Do you guys notice the Red easter egg knight?? It is good to see Geobra modifying the ugly bat wings into some cool cloaks. I think the new red and silver axe and sword are nicely designed, whilst the neck wear also helps ease the ugly factor of the dragon knights

For the special plus, the training dummy is good, except for the knight's eyes...it is as if he should be the dead one with that eyes. The grey pirate is a hightlight. Geobra really has done a good job introducing some more realistically looking klickies. The widelife hunter is cool.....and like the stick he is using to cook the chicken. Do you guys know any similar parts I can use before its release in 2013?? And the new sheep is awesome.....cool use of colour....I bet they are not painted on but with new mould.

The dinosaurs (most of them) are the same with new paint job?? I am more interested on the new fauna, that is what I would have expected to see traveling back in time.

I would skip the Pony farm and police, they are cool, though not what I mostly collect.

The surprise figures!!!
New shoes for the egyptian lady!! Geisha? GREAT!! I like the scandinavian looking couple, especially the guy with green hat!! HE IS THE BEST KLICKY IN 2012. The ninjaXbruce lee asian got bad hairdo.....and I would get a team of cheerleaders

Then I would hate Geobra more. I understand this is their business strategy.....but it is really frustrating to wait for another year after seeing they CAN do it if they want to. I like the swimmer the most, yet how come it is not a guy.....and why on earth we dont have female weight lifter? That is sexist. :P

That skateboarder fi?ure looks exactly like Lego.  That's just offensive...

If I wanted a lego figure I would get one - if I wanted a Playmobil figure, will I be able to get one (in the future?!).

I wonder why they discontinued the dinosaur series the other year only to revamp it and bring it back?!

I would really love to hear an official response from the company.

at least I would never want such change.....that looks like the annoying orange on youtub :hmm:e

But isn't this the problem?  What one person wants another may not, and so Playmobil find that when they make a change that pleases some people, they upset others.

Really like the police sets, this car looks like the SKoda Octavia5 its used as a Police car in greece btw ! really like some of the medieval klikcies and the pirate, the sports are not my cap of tea, the lego smile is horrible imo...... Playmobil is so different to what i am used to ... all togfether i am not excited about these new sets liek most of you , i suppose i prefer the more traditional playmobil stuff... :)

Eh, don't have a problem with the face changes-  what was it '89 when Lego started changing their faces?  And yet the Lego smile endures...  I remember a friend of mine in the early '80's who used to melt off the smiles from his Lego figures with a magnifying glass...

This is one of the best offerings I have seen since the early aughts- when I had the Vikings as my screensavers for many months...

I hope we at least don't have to wait until 2013 for the Olympics sets  :crossed: . It would seem a little weird to get the Olympics figures post-Olympics.

Same here. I don't like gimmicky faces. I like the simple playmobil smile, and I really don't want to see sad faces. I like that they are ever smiling, unaffected by peison sentences, indian attacks, viking attacks, always smiling. They seem to be such an optimistic little crowd, and I like them that way. They cheer me up.

i did say i wont buy any Fi?ure s but when i saw those packets in london/geneva/french stores i just have to buy a couple...consoling myself that some of the parts are unique and might be worth keeping for future customs....
and WOW! Fi?ures 2!! again nothing i ever wished for or can use to improve any of my customs BUT i can see there are parts that i woudl want to collect (another big excuse  :P)
so i think these Fi?gures series are great and will carry on for a while, providing some usable parts for customs

i have been hoping(predicting?) that judoka special comes out but i was hoping for baggy sleeves and legs for improving my asian customs..anyway, the belts are now nolonger jusr dreams  :) maybe i should dream for sumo-wrestlers with shaven top-knots....with naked fat torsos...but then playmo dad might not look that suave anymore

i did predict a geisha special...but was hoping for japanese thongs not these modern bathing sandals  :'( and her skirt...i was hoping for one with tiny floral design so i can make more samurais  :'( still....will buy one geishe Fi?ures...and somehow hope she looks ok in my japanese theme shelf  :P

the asian eyes with the moustague might not appeal to most collectors but its very suitable for a few more samurai customs...more appropriate than those fu-man-chu moustague

overall...no new legs or arms for improving my asian customs...but the judokas torso will be good for me....another year worth growing older for?!  :P

and finally, THANKS Zookeeper!!!!    ;)

Yes, I also noticed that there were no holes in the baseplates in the polices series  :hmm:. It looks like this is for a better overall look and quicker assembly time. Hopefully these sets will still be easily compatible with SystemX, and the only change is the loss of the holes on the floor  :prays:.

I really am not trying to turn this into a debate, but my thoughts on the new "non-classic" elements to PM are that while we may be disappointed with some of the new aspects that Playmobil is introducing in their sets, we can have a reasonable hope that they will build a robust vintage PM line to appease collectors...

I think that these changes are probably a good sign for that... they don't have to worry about not including collectors wishes in the new lines if they are planning to reissue the stuff we want...

If I was operating the business from a business perspective and not as a "fan" this is the right call profit wise. Collectors will still collect, but kids will only influence their parents to buy what they like...

By giving the collectors a variety of "Classic Edition" type sets through the PCC they will continue to get that section of the market and most collectors will continue to buy new sets... maybe not all of them... but they will still buy some.

At times we (and I totally include myself here) may blind ourselves to the reality and make hasty statements because we are so passionate about our hobby, but our hobby is toy collecting after all, and toys are made for the young, and young at heart. :) So they will continue to change...

All that aside... I don't like the new faces... if they really want to do that, then why not just give them all faceless heads and issue markers again so we can make our own... or change over to the switchable skeletons in all figures and make a DS pack of "classic" swappable heads? but maybe that is coming... along with swappable skeletons from DS... Oh I truly hope so...  ;D

Maybe the picture is distorted because the catalogue page isn't flat, but if it is meant to resemble the Octavia, it's not a very good resemblance:

OMG - if that's only the first part of 2012 then I am in deep trouble.
I definitly want the new Dino's - the new F?gures (love them all !!! ) And all the new F?gures too.
I think too that the Specials are officially "dead". I have them all now, and to be honest, I don't regret it. There were too many there I didn't think were that 'Special'.
I believe the F?gures are already that what Specials were and still should have been. But haven't.

On the other hand - there were only 12 Specials a year and there are going to be 48 different F?gures a year (if they contunue to release 24 each 12 months) ...
That's definitly going to eat more into my wallet and display space  :o

BTW - that's definitly NOT a Dutch couple ... They have more a German feel to me ... Bavarian???

Good thing they arent doing much with pirates, knights and cowboys next year aside from a few nice specials and other small packages.  :)

Police is looking really good though, and I like that bank. From the horses theme, the little covered wagon with two kids looks really nice too.

For now my only plans are to get two specials: the archer with the target and the pirate with the treasure chest. (more gold!) I really like expanding playmobil treasury to give any clickie with mean looking eyebrows something worth stealing.

Heh well, as I said, not much seems to be released in the historical themes that interest me.  :)

If they would completely revise the castle, cowboys and pirate theme again, it would be a completely different story.
And right now I already have all the stuff I wanted to have from the pirate batch released in august.

There wasnt much restraint there, the only things I dont have from that batch are the pirate ship, treasure island and cannon boat with hammerhead shark.
None of them interest me though, I got all the redcoats and pirate ships get released in every batch in a rather similar fasion.

Still, looking forward to 2012 though.  :)

WOW !!!  :(o): :(o): :(o):

Some wonderful new sets!!

I suspected the new horses would show up again! I like the poneyfarm (at least from the front) and certainly that barn. If finances permit (the pirates-theme renewal has just eaten a lot of my budget), I'd like to add the barn (and maybe the farm) to my Renaissance-city...

The police looks good too, at last they got proper weapons to fight heavily armed gangsters!  ;D Btw, that aren't machineguns but (semi-)automatic rifles.  :P  They look like M-16s or the British/French equivalents. (An M-16 is a semi-automatic rifle, whereas f.e. an M-60 is higher caliber and is a true machinegun. Machineguns are mostly used to defend fixed positions, whereas semi-automatic/automatic rifles are designed to be used my moving troops)
The helo is much more realistic and could easily be converted to a military scout-helicopter.

The 2nd series of superspecials (special plus) contains at least 2 cool figures; the pirate and the knight!

Olympic series is awesome! (the sportshooter's rifle seems very usefull in addition to the other new rifles for the policeforce  ;) )

2nd series of Surprise Figures is way better then the 1st, though I wasn't expecting Elvis to come back! (I was hoping for Beethoven ) I agree there aren't any Dutch there; Polish or German (Bavarian)  indeed seems more plausible.  ;)
All in all some awesome figures! Btw, except for 1 shop, no sight of the 1st series of Figures here in stores in my region (Belgium > Flanders > Ghent)...

Hum... I think I'll have to plunder some more innocent vessels to finance all this new stuff!!  :uhoh: :captain:

with that fi?ure  pirate pack it sure looks like Tim is right about the skull being clear. If they can make that Geobra can make an all clear klicky. I would even want a translucent skeleton, I think that would be spookier than white or glow in the dark. Come to think of it a translucent car or train would be interesting as well

Heh nope, the island is too big. I can't store it. And I am not too fond of the coins gimmick. Might get the little boat with the hammerhead sometimes, but the large cannon mounted on such a small boat is really off putting.

I've spend enough for now, any follow up sales will likely be to aquire classic sets for the knights theme.

is Customisator a board member?

i don't think Playmobil always 'steals' ideas - if they see the creations made by adult fans on all the discussion boards then they get inspiration, i wouldn't call it 'steal' (steal would be to make an IDENTICAL figure).

also, we all may come up with our 'own' customs, BUT like i've said before great minds think alike...it might be just a coincidence

i too made a Lara Croft a few years ago and eventually other people made one on her own...i don't think they copied me or that they came up with the idea just because they saw my custom - they may have already had the idea in mind themselves too (Lara Croft doesn't have just 1 fan in the world ;))

hi Luis , you are the "devil lawyer" ..... coincidence ......  by customisator , i mean lots of customisator in the world , i don't speak only for me : for example there's a french who make a geisha very near the playmobil one , r unglick stole the picture for his book (without autorisation) and now playmobil do one , i think they just have to ask to have a "yes you can" .... but they don't ... bad education ...

i agree with you : a seller will never (rarelly ..) do a identical copy , he will change few things to say he only get inspiration  .... i don't think they's so many coincidence possible , an oportunist is an oportunist .... (i only speak about the fact doing money will ideas of other people) playmobil write to to ask me to not sell one lara croft because they don't want to be associate to "label" , how many lara will they sell ? i don't think i can have a problem to sell one lara but i will be happy if the creator of this video games plaint agains't playmobil who never pay autor taxes (lego do !) you think  they have the Elvis presley family to make money on his image ? (not 1E , thousand figures !! )

in french , there's a seller who take a lot of ideas of malone to do his one very fastly (not copy) , it's clear he doesn't think by himself doing think like that , you could say he his just inspired , i call that oportunism because it's to make money .

we live in a materialist word , few years ago i was considering me as an idea seller but noone pay for that if it's easy to do the same ! (i start bying custom years ago considering i was paying few euro for ideas ) Music , ideas etc ... people consider all theses things as free . i think exactly the contrary : i say to my daughter the only think nobody can steal you is what she have in mind , tomorrow a tsunami , no house no car no clothes but your capacity of creation , what you learn will still be with you .

sometimes i wish i was a lawyer  just not a mean one! ;D

no, seriously - i get the point of the money thing, but when one posts a creation on the internet you take your chances i guess :-\

and i know how frustrating it is when a copied work wasn't given the proper credit :(

Some very interesting stuff. Some very awful details already spoken (lego face of a girl, upsidedown mouth of prisoner (whatthaheck?!?!?!)).

My favourite are the medieval guys (one roasting a chicken and the archer -- although the archer isn't the best combination of colours (...)).

But the horses and dogs are very cool too. (Not my target though ...)

(Ballerina looks cool too ... I'm a romantic fellow.)

I like the women in the series 3 batch the best. Maybe the bottom right male figure is glow in the dark?
So that's 48 new figures a year they are doing. Far more than they used to do with the specials. Do you think they are going to drop the Specials line entirely?

Do you think they are going to drop the Specials line entirely?

A question I had myself too. My thought is PM splits up the specials line in: a special+ and the figures line. So you can buy a klicky with some extra accessories for some more money compared with the special and buy a figure without accessories for some less one than the special.

Fave boys have to be the rock star, the Royal Guard, Bob Marley (?), the ice hockey player (finally some competition for the original special) and the F1 driver which surely has to be Sebastian Vettel immortalised as the youngest ever double F1 champ.

Fave girls are the sari and flamenco ladies, Liberty, the pregnant lady and, rather obviously, the surfergirl.....maybe I will finally create myself an avatar picture.

I think that is supposed to be a ninja or theft (left of pregnant lady)

looks like a Matrix character to me, as Gustavo suggests.

I hope playmobil only keeps these facial expressions (we have at least one more) and famous-inspired figures in the Fi?ures line and I also hope this won't branch out to licencing themes in the future...I like the elvis, lara croft and all those but at the same time I'm afraid that that concept will lead playmobil to make something many collectors won't like to see like the licencing thing Lego does ??? Maybe I'm anticipating too much but am I the only one feeling this way??

As an additional note, after reading Cheng's post in the pregnant klicky thread that Gaston made, it will be VERY interesting to see how that pregnant lady is put together, and much MORE interesting to see what other Fi?ures are (aesthetics-wise) compatible with her belly. :giggle: (I'm aussiming just the female figures will be technically compatible with it? I WISH...

I know she has some talented music on the radio but I have no idea what she looks like (no TV for 10 years) If I saw what looks like the Green Dressed Klicky walking on the street to me it just looks like some super fabulous trans. from San Fransisco and I have seen thousands of them. To each his own....... :hmm:

I know I want quite a few of the Green dressed  lady because she is so unique looking and I doubt the parts will get used often. I like to stock up when you can  ;)

Easy with comments like this...

Anyway, I love the new figures- much better selection than the first series, IMHO... But, yes, more asians without mustaches or pigtails(!)... these always make my Chinese-Korean sister-in-law laugh hysterically...

I sure want them all and probably a few of each. Now there are some that I want at least 20 of. I like the 1st series as they were much more simple and now 2 & 3 seems so custom they do not look klicky-ish enough. I will still get them all but they look very different from traditional playmobil

It's a bit of a wasted opportunity that they don't include a SWAT van in the new police theme.

With the new police stuff it seems to make sense.. The SWAT van could be fully loaded with gas masks, several riot shields, batons, pistols, handcufs, etc.

At inofficial italian website pmobil.it (http://www.pmobil.it) you can get a closer look on the new sets for the 1st half of 2012 (dinos, police, ponyranch, etc.). All packages can be zoomed so you are able to see some more details like the functional banking machine at the new bank (police-theme). Looks like it spit some money if you put in a small card.

The new dinos seem to get the new modern package-design like top-agents and future-planet.

And there are three unknown sets or better some redesigns, maybe italian exclusives?

redesigned submarine (http://www.pmobil.it/prodotti_dettaglio.php?id_pro=10883&cod_op=det&id_cat=88)

diver with boat (http://www.pmobil.it/prodotti_dettaglio.php?id_pro=10884&cod_op=det&id_cat=88)

new school bus (http://www.pmobil.it/prodotti_dettaglio.php?id_pro=10889&cod_op=det&id_cat=97)

Of course there'll be a lot of new sets (3-4 new or relaunched themes normally) for 2nd half of 2012 that will be official presented at the toy fair in nuremberg (february, 1st - 6th). Normally the "better informed circles" at klickywelt gave out the first pics and infos in the mid/end of january, so it shouldn't be too long from now.

:yippee:! These are some great sets, thanks for the link Zookeeper! I wouldn't mind seeing the schoolbus in yellow, though. As for the new boxes, I think that a little more blue in the background wouldn't hurt. However, parents might be more likely to buy several--if not all--of the sets in the theme if they were clearly identified as being part of a collection.

a new western-theme with a fort, goldmine, covered wagon, indian camp, etc.

a cargo-theme with rc passenger train, rc cargo train, crane, cargoplane, cargoship, etc.

a holidayhotel with hotelroom, bus, etc.

in the 2nd half of 2012. No pics so far...

Not saying the opposite, but am I the only one to find it odd? Then again, playmobil has a LOT of odd choices, soo..

They did a couple of west sets recently maybe they did well?

The train/cargo stuff is quite recent, in my book... odd to see new versions so fast.

And the hotel.. well... VERY ODD. But then again we do have plenty of "vacation" sets.. a good alternative for those who don't want to share the nights with the wildlife, right?  :P  Still.. either it will be ridiculously tiny, or ridiculously expensive... or even both. (worse part, is I might end up getting it!)

The punk clicky and the Lara Croft one are hysterical   Great to see so much different clickies. I don't really collect those, so for now I'm just rooting for the hotel.

As you are a fan and collector of playmo animals i think you are very lucky bb !!! I think playmobil has expanded a lot especially in the past 4 years the animal range and there are lots from treh past some being re issued and other improved / changed. I think playmobil animals are today's most educational playmo toy and sets as they associate with respect for animals and in extend to the enviroment, can motivate childrent to read and learn about the animal kingdom and what animals are in threat etc . All together is the most educational theme i believe and can easily be combined with the farming sets etc which also havea lot fo animals . Though not my theme and sets i collect i find the progress playmobil has made in these themes and in animals more generally truly impressive ( unlike the medieval sets which are more and more unrealistic and GI Joe / Masters of The Universe clones like ) and the best for children- oh not just for children i should say !!!  ;D ;D ;D

if they make a dragon (2012 is the year of the water dragon) but then, this is a mystical creature...no PM zoo will allow :P

Looks like part of an exploding valcano, or some kind of flying rock.

I'm not liking the look of it.

Notice how the sign is attached, and the holes above the windows, and the large gaps between the roof sections...

It looks like system X (with the holes all covered) but the plastics are looking cheap..

I saw the hotel through someone's link on Playmobil's FB-page, but not the train-loc and airplane.

Just a first impression, but I think the loc and the plane look...somewhat non-Playmobil, but rather like other plastic toys  :-\

I think this is sort of a new era of Playmobil that we're entering :). I look at it this way: the first era was the 1970's and early 80's, with the simple, usually single color pieces. The next was the late 80's and 90's, where the parts became more realistic and detailed and so did the Klickies. The third-era was from 2000 to about 2009, where things were trending towards a more cartoonish look with more creative shapes and some unrealistc aspects, like Dragonland. The fourth-ear will likely be smaller pieces like this train, but with more detail. I think progression is just the sign of a healthy product line !

Anyways i see these horrid plastic tracks are here to stay and not the proper LGB tracks that Playmobil once had . anyways i hope the other new sets are more exciting , i wasnt impressed by that train and nor this hotel colours as a matter of fact ....  :hmm:

Interesting, not all that impressed by the western. Fort Brave? What happened to Bravo? The Western all seem to be redone old sets, nothing much really new looking other than the fact the horses are the most recent style. The cargo theme is interesting, new complex container system, and that plane has a nose that opens up to allow cargo from the front. Looks like new police and fire sets for 1-2-3.

The Cargo Plane intrigues me...because it is blue and white and would seem to match the uniform of the air hostess special....but why would you need an air hostess on a cargo plane ??? So perhaps it also has a potential for a seated configuration, but then it would need a passenger door, and I can't see one in the FB photo. Like I said,...intrigued  ???

the first thing i noticed about the fort is that is appears to have "sharp"er pointed log tops than the old forts... this makes it look more acceptable for say... a french and indian war or revolutionary war frontier fort... hopefully the lame "Fort Brave" sign is a sticker

If we are to believe the barrels in the pictures with 1848 stamped on them... there wont be civil war stuff... though, historically speaking, the cavalry sets pictures themselves would be post-war era... think 1870... which means historical isn't on the menu once again

Wow, this is all very interesting! I see the hotel room has clear doors leading to the bathroom! Just like in the airplane. ::)

Oh, and CHris just pointed out that's a new donkey with the goldmine set.

That "disco" will make a great stage for rock concerts, etc. Anything you can imagine, really. I like it. It isn't much of a disco, but it's a great versatile set that I would think just about anyone who collects modern theme could think of a use for!

No bats in the goldmine  :'(

I'm a little disappointed...very few new ideas in the loveless 98-percent-remake western-theme, a train that don't look like playmobil and a really poor presentation of two official pics at facebook.

But i like the hotel i think and the disco-idea isn't that bad. There's still hope for the next days...

The new western fort has some lovely features but with that strange roof and its design its far less impressive than the very first one if you ask me , that could easily be expanded etc etc . God, i still havent managed to transport back in time , back in 1978 !!!!!!

Because I wasn't collecting when western was available in the "golden days" I'm really glad to see new revamps of old sets ;). All I have of the old series is a very incomplete Fort Eagle and the goldmine. Even if they aren't as glorious as the old sets, I think they're fun and I'm just glad to see Western back  :cowboy: :indian:!

 ;D ;D

I'm liking the new sets!! The hotel looks very promising, as does the disco for all of the rock and roll figures coming out. So far, I have successfully resisted buying any western theme, but that might be changing with the new goldmine. The horses with the new sets are lovely as well.

Anybody find put-together pictures of those puzzle teaser sets from facebook? Looks like dinos and a new horse/pony ranch. I'm eager to see complete pictures of those!!

Gotta start saving my pennies  ;)

I don't know German and couldn't get the site to translate to English, but I am wondering why the Hotel would have the iPod/MP3 technology and not the children's disco?  :hmm:

As a pirates(ship)-fan, I'm glad the fort's front-wall has a brown cannon-hatch  ;D

The infantry/artillery-soldiers' lightblue caps are rather suited for confederates, not yankees. Yanks will have to be DS-equipped, though there is a darblue cap with a klicky from the goldmine. Nice the new horsers are used, I already said these would be suited for cavalry-charges.
The "swimsuit-indians", I don't know... customizing will become rather limited. I hope they don't extend it much further to other klickies, it would look silly.
Western is indeed much a make-over, but I think I'll get several of the Western-sets like the waggon, the carriage with cannon (thought the horse-leads or how these are called look stupid in blue) and the fort is also suitable for creating Spanish or colonist-settlements.

To me the Goldmine's "mule" looks the same as the new donkey from the updated Mary & Joseph Christmas-set, but I could be wrong.

"Hotel and disco" look very silly to me, but I'm not much a modern-theme fan of course.
(btw, they forgot to include a French politician with the hotel & maid)

The "Agents' Commander Vehicle" looks like a mobile SAM-system to me. (SAM = military Surface-to-Air Missile; an anti-aircraft weapon)...

I'll upload some pics here, then we don't have to go to FB or use the links every time...

Of course the disco has the mp3-support and not the hotel... ;)

But the idea isn't so bad...if you connect the sound-module to the clock in the hotel-room you could rock your hotel-guests out of bed playing some heavy metal..

Couple of thoughts, and I haven't read all the posts, so, these may be addressed.
Given that so far there only seems to be one hotel picture, I'm wondering if these can be stacked one on top of another to make a big hotel, or even side by side to make a motor hotel, ala 'motel'.  Also, while we see a maid (everyone's got to have one) how about guests and other staff?
Also, I"m thinking that with the Western sets (like probably the hotel) there will be a bunch of smaller sets to go with them.
As far as the Western sets, so far kinda neat. I particularly like the guy working the mines in the prison stripes. I thought those were a thing of the past until seeing a road crew of prisoners a year or two ago in Georgia.
Btw, did anyone notice there seems to be a door of some sort in the rock base in the fort? Is that a prison there, or does it lead to the secret escape tunner?
Lastly, I sure would love one of those big display figures.  8-)

No pics, but information and release dates for Germany/Benelux/Austria/Switzerland(?)/Norway, and a few other EU-countries belonging to Geobra's "homemarket":

I'm leaving out the Surprise Figures-series 2 & 3 of which we've seen pics before, the special-Plus seires-1 and -2 as well...

April 2012: Dinosaurs

Mai 2012: Limited Editions:
*submarine
*take-along dollhouse with 4 furnitured rooms

Mid-August 2012: WESTERN
(Fort, Goldmine, Plane-wagon, Sheriff/Marschal with horse, bandits, indians, soldiers with cannon, ...)

End of August 2012: (MODERN) HARBOR-CARGO facilities
10 sets, including a cargoship, cargo-crane, a (small) RC-cargotrain and cargo/passenger-airplane

september 2012: BIG VACATION HOTEL

End of september 2012: TOP AGENTS 2
5 new sets to complement the previous ones. The vehicles and klickies will have UV-active and reflective properties, there will be a badguy with battle-robots.

2 new ADVENT-calenders:
*horse-riding
*police

PS:
Olympic athletes around May 2012. Soccer is coming out a bit earlier on the year, we've seen some of the soccer-players already I think. I've no picture saved, but the soccer-field would be in a take-along-case.

Yes to all of the above, the hotel has a stackable component that can be a separate villa or an additional floor. A list of the sets will be coming to the forums today some time I think. Anna Ermann is releasing the info to the collectors, but I'm unclear on the level of detail that will be allowed to be posted.  Keep an eye on Klickywelt if it doesn't get posted here at some point.

i don't like the train

Awesome...many thanks to Tim and especially to Playmobil for letting us see this already.

Loving the new sets especially the Hotel theme, the Cargo theme and the new Aircraft...but can't help wondering if the missing set 5260 was meant to be the control tower pictured in the catalogue photo and if it will ever be released? ??? I'm an Air Traffic Controller, and I need a tower ;)

Thanks to everyone who has made pictures and information available to the rest of us!

I'm shocked at the size of the hotel! I don't know why it had not occurred to me that it might be school or hospital sized! It's going to be a long wait! Can't wait to see what add-ons there will be. Maybe an additional maid with a push cart to store and transport her cleaning supplies?

Was confused because the 5261 description doesn't actually mention the tower, it just says cargo and passenger plane. I'll no doubt be buying one of everything lol!

Me too. We could meet up and play. ;D But I want to be the cowboy, so you will have to be the indian  :P

I'll be an Indian if I can go barechested and we have plenty of paint. ;D

I'm trying really hard to not comment on that bare chested even though he wont show his face bit, so I wont.

Instead I will point out it looks like it's the oldest version 1 bear with closed mouth in the Indian kids set. Which is interesting.

You're right! It does have playing cards, now I don't have to try to order those for my saloon. I was too busy looking at the great rack of post cards to notice!

And Tim, you're right. I'll probably incorporate that in my gift shop!

Love the western sets-  I know I will be getting most of those- (especially if Red Dead Redemption 2 comes out in the next year or two)
The hotel is way cooler than I thought- trying to figure out how to avoid getting that for my little girl-
Very clever how the penthouse is a separate set-
I also love the Agents set with the giant robot- super-villian terrorizing Playmo-town!
Awesomeness!!!

Thanks for the catalogs!  Below are my impressions of the sets that are personally relevant to me:

I'm pleased to see the Western theme is back in the catalog and there are some things I like about it, namely the Marshal set, the bandit set, the artillery tunics, the introduction of a corporal, the new teepee, the shed next to the mine, and the new Native Americans.  Based upon the pictures, however, I must say that the fort looks rather too "Fischer Price" for my taste.  I think the Steck forts are best and the System X forts are nice too, but this new fort looks too "childish" to me.  Perhaps its the glossy logs.  A matte finish might all but eliminate the cheap impression of it that I'm getting in the pictures.  Also, what military genius decided to build a fort around rocks that enemies could climb upon to enter the fort?  Still, the rock prison looks to be useful for the Egyptian theme.  Perhaps I'm being too critical, as these are toys for children, and I will probably purchase most of these Western sets, but I don't see the fort displacing Playmobil's previous forts in my collection.

The new dogs look good and I like the new horses, although I don't like the fact that any old tack will not work with them.  I doubt I'll buy into them.  The Super Specials and Fi?ures look good too, although the addition of medals on the British soldier make his use limited in terms of "army building".  Also, I personally despise the "mystery pack" idea.

Looking at the size of some of the sets they must be going to be pretty expensive.  Does Playmobil know about the recession, or are they planning to bring the world out of recession with these new ranges?

I had a similar thought when first looking at them. Last year, the new pirates' sets for instance contained very few accessories and klickies. The pirates' ship and big island only came with 3 klickies each, probably to keep the price "low".

(they've now raised the prices of several sets, f.e.ship and fortress, between 40% and 50% in January; the pirateship was 48 euros in toyshops, now listed 70 euro on the belgian playmo-website. I bought the fortress for 35 euro, it is now listed 53 euro on the official site).

When I now see that f.e. the Western plane-wagon comes with 4 klickies, I wonder what such a "common" set will cost. The fort comes with 4 soldiers and 2 indians, which makes a total of 6 klickies... Wow, even the old Western-forts never included such a high klicky-number. The more the merrier I'd normally say, but I'm really wondering to which price-range this will go...

With some of these price hikes, they have priced me out of the market. Luckily I got most of the new pirate sets at the lower price. I was waiting to get the newer castles but with the higher prices, I'm going to sit this one out. Looks like you better get what you want at the initial release date because the prices go up the following year.

It's not a question of prices but also of marketing and what have you. Licensed Lego themes like Star Wars are very, very expensive, but people still buy them.

I have to contradict myself. I said before that there was nothing that caught my eye.
BUT I LOVE THE NEW WESTERN STUFF!!!!! Most of all the colors!!!! They areso grown up!!!! SO ME!!! Now I hope for a new release of the Victorian theme with this tendency!!!!

So I raise this questions...

1) have you noticed that "boys'" sets have very grown up, warm, dark colors, while the "girls'" sets are still too pinkysh and childish? (western, agents, cargo, police vs hotel, magic castle) Is this a trend to get kid's attention, just because boys and girls like different stuff?

2) Or do you think this new "grown up" color pallette is directed to adult collectors?
Title: Re: New Sets 2012
Post by: bonniebeth on January 29, 2012, 00:51:28
I think it's a combination of one and two. I like to think the new western theme was geared towards us adult collectors. Thus the more grown-up look.

For the hotel, it's definitely made to appeal to the current girly-girl market. There are a lot of super super super girly toys that are very popular right now. I think they are probably having trouble hooking that market lately, and are doing what they must to get girls asking for playmo. Lego has had to do it, too. I think it's probably a smart move on their part to try to corner that market. After all, we do want playmobil to stick around -- they have to do what they have to do. But at least they gave us our western theme we've been begging for!

One thing that I don't think was discussed...

All the printing is stickers because they're not the real thing yet? The "REAL" sets will come printed as usual, not with stickers, right? (ok, we could do better than the late USUAL (lack of) print quality, but..)

The body paint on the indians, the details that should be printed on the klickys are stickers...

Darn... I was hoping the sign with date (1848) on the Western-wagon's cover would be/remain a sticker, then it could be used in other themes without having to scrub off the print.
(which can damage the plastic made of the softer type, which is being more & more used, and I bet the wagon's cover will be soft plastic)

There's so many new stuff that I have to admit that I'm beginning to feel frustrated. They don't think about poor playmobil lovers at all. There are things in big sets that you'll never have unless you have a lot of money. I'm about to take some vacations, and stop looking at forums, and unlike the facebook page and get out of the groups (except the one I created, which I'll let be there, because you don't undo things like those).

Which means they'll be on PlaymoDB as soon as I can manage it - the set pages are there already, waiting for pictures. A few of the instructions are in the official repository already, isn't that weird? To be precise:
4909   Deep Sea Submarine with underwater motor
4910   Dinghy with Diver

from playmobilusa.com:
5962   Ice Cream Cart
5964   Pool
5965   Family SUV with Personal Watercraft
5967   Flamingos
5970   Carrying Case Vet Clinic
5971   Carrying Case School
5972   Carrying Case Knights
5973   Carrying Case Firemen
5979   Dragon Knights' Castle

There's no point in linking since you have to go to the repository to search anyway. They're all on the last couple of pages.

WOHOHO! I just saw the prices of these sets on the German site  :o :o :o :o

I don't understand Playmobil. Hans Beck came up with these little toys because of the oil crisis, didn't he? The smaller the toy, the cheaper and more affordable the price?

And what do they do now? Clutter the sets with useless bits of plastic. Take the sheriff for eg, an absolutely redundant cactus plant ... and 9.99 retail price!

Why not just the sheriff and the horse, and a couple of euros cheaper? What exactly is the play value of a cactus plant, for children?

By far the best street lights till now besides the lamp-post of the victorian theme of course. If i find a way to mount two of them together (one shining to the left, one to the right) on a baseplate or so, then i'll get a million too ;D

To be honest i hope that there isn't any electricity to keep the price at DS under 1 euro/piece.

I think NOT, there is no information about batteries or lighting...

I'm sure they don't , they aren't big enough to have batteries in them, and as zugpferdchen says, it would say if they lit up. But they still would look great lining the main entrance to my zoo. ;D

It looks like the new dino sets are packed in traditional blue boxes.

BTW, we all have already seen out of the box pics of new sets 2012 but dinos. Anyone has them to share?

oh great, now most sets have those horrible fancy theme names on the boxes...we're so stupid that we probably wouldn't know what theme each set is from otherwise... ::)

But they still would look great lining the main entrance to my zoo. ;D

omg what a great idea!

well if you see a dinosaur and a volcano you (or a kid) won't think that set is from a medieval theme  - those theme names are totally unnecesary to me...playmobil is starting to look like most toy brands...good bye old classic style of pm box

whatever, as BB said in another thread: beauty is in the eye's of the beholder

the first in in the "bonnie and clyde" set (the one with the skunk)

In this set, is the rope thing on the explosives box one of the ropes that hold the boar on the stick in the 3628 Hunting Party?

I also really like that detail in that set :D! I'm a little dissapointed with that series, though. Some of the sets, especially the robot, just don't look like Playmobil.
Also, in that earlier picture (http://www.owz-online.de/Media2011/3/158/146/3118674.jpg) of the truck, the colors were green and gray, instead of red and gray in the actual version (http://www.playmobil.de/on/demandware.store/Sites-DE-Site/de_DE/Product-Show?pid=5286&cgid=Agenten) :hmm:. Green not only looked better, but also lended the vehicle to the Future Planet theme and looked like it would be easier to customize into a military vehicle.
However, even though this is my least favorite, I love all of the new themes for 2012 !
