Post by: bonniebeth on July 10, 2011, 01:12:50
Ok, here we go with another microset review. ;D First views of the front and back of the box/sleeve:

The house comes in two pieces:

And here it is put together:

A view of the magnetic playboard showing the footprint for the house, as well as a front gate (behind the house from our perspective), a swimming pool, lots of hedges and trees, and some rows of garden veggies.

And the backdrop for this set is really lovely, showing the neighbors' houses (I wish they'd make houses ike that), possibly a church (?) and a couple of hot air balloons!

There are two landscaping pieces included, a stand of trees and a hedge, though I found them rather difficut to place on the board.

Here are the three pieces that make up the...

.... patio table

There are two people in lounge chairs, and two on floating rafts for the pool, which I think is really cool.

And amongst all these lazy lounging klickys, there is one hard-working guy:

The two children with this set are very cute, though their accessories don't have much to do with the theme of the set, I'm afraid.

What I do really like, though, is that these kids have magnets in their feet, so they don't fall over on the board.

A close up of the swimming pool, with people lounging in and around it....

..... while this poor guy mows the lawn all by himself.

And finally an overview to finish up:

Another fantastic microset. I really wish they would produce more of these... a victorian house with an oldtimer car would be really awesome, and a safari set... I'd ove to see more!

Another lovely one. Are the boxes in several colors? I thought they were all blue.

I believe the first series of them, from 2005 (pirates, noah's ark, knights, and fairy tale) were all in the same blue boxes. The other four, which were released in 2007, each came in a different color box, red, green, yellow, and a different blue from the original series.

Thanks, Bonnie, for another superb review.  Again, it's a set I haven't yet opened but one I'm glad I bought having seen your review.

Thanks everybody!

Hm.... it's really hard to say. There's things I really love about all of them. I really like the swimming pool and rafts in this one. I like the carriage and the couples from the fairy tale castle. I like the overall look of the airpot one. The jousters in the knight's castle are great. I like the way the harbor crane can actually lift cargo... it's not easy to make a toy that small actually functional. And I love the backgrounds of the pirate set, plus the fortress is really cool. So it's hard to say. But I think the ones I keep going back to the most are the modern house and the airport, so it's between those two.

In the US actually they tend to be red most of the time. But of course I was referring to the only Playmo lawnmower like that 3233 - Groundskeeper (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=3233) or 4280 - Backyard (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4280) that is yellow ;)

I wondered if you were referring to that one.

In the UK, lawnmowers tend to be either green or orange, red is unusual in my experience.
