Victorian rack
« on: October 22, 2011, 18:48:24 »
Thinking about what I wanted to see done and what was missing in the victorian theme, I noticed that there is something very common in the 1800 and 1900 that Playmobil hasn't done....yet  ;) : a rack for hats, umbrellas and kins.
But how to make one?

Here are some examples of the real thing.

Now a little story. There is candy in Argentina called Paraguitas, that means little umbrellas, that has been around since I was a kid. It is basically a lollipop but instead of caramel it is made of chocolate. It has the shape of an umbrella.

So one day walking by a drugstore I saw them and inspiration came at once. I could now make my rack.  ;D All I needed was to get some candy (got a lot!) and I already had the rest.
So this is what I used.
The rack that comes in the victorian kitchen (I had one broken) which is not tall enough, a bicycle wheel, a victorian tea cup and three Paraguitas.  (there is a grey thingy in the pic that I didn't use in the final version)

So I cut the curved ends of the Paraguitas sticks and put them in the holes that the kitchen rack already has. As seen on the pic

To add some height I used the tea cup cutting off the handle. And then I cut some of the rays of the wheel to fit the playmo umbrellas.

Then it is just paint and put together

I JUST LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
